Mr Chimney LLC

I was shocked at the problems that we had and the lack of response from this company. I had hired this company 2 years ago to clean my chimney and found them good to work with. But I am suspecting there has been a change of ownership because my renter reported that little time was spent on the job and then the insert was malfunctioning after the service. I contacted them over a week ago. I was able to speak to a woman who assured me a technician would get back to me soon. I have called multiple times since with no response.

After getting cheated by another company who stopped going on our roof for the past three years to clean and inspect our 2-story chimney as they should then lied about it to me, leaving us vulnerable to chimney fires, I contacted another company to clean our chimney in November. I was correct; the original company had not been properly cleaning our chimney, nor did they alert us to the deteriorating condition of our chimney, which we use a lot with our wood-burning insert. The second company gave me a quote of $4500 to fix the chimney, saying the bricks up top all needed to be replaced and we needed a new cap, even though ours was not that old. I obviously wanted more information before I spent that kind of money, but the company would never return my calls, no matter how many messages I left. And I wanted other estimates, anyway, but getting chimney companies to contact you is not always easy (I give companies two tries, then they're out). Mr. Chimney, however, was different from the start. I contacted them by email through their website, and within 10-20 minutes, they called me. I was shocked! The office manager was polite and knowledgeable (I questioned her), and had been with the company for several years (high company turnover can be a red flag). We scheduled my free estimate for the next week (spring is the slow season for chimney cleaning, so FYI, this is a good time to do it). Troy, the owner, was right on time. I questioned him, too, showing off all my knowledge from a few minutes of research on The Google. But he didn't mind, and was obviously well-versed in his profession, as he should be, since he started helping his dad when he was 8! He not only inspected our main chimney but asked about our second chimney, which no one in 10 years has ever noticed or mentioned. The bricks were deteriorating on it and he explained why; the previous owner had unfortunately taken out that fireplace and closed up the chimney, but it was not done correctly. He explained in simple terms (my Google Chimney Education only went so far) what needed to be done to both chimneys and that we did not need to replace the bricks or the cap on the main one, but needed new and better crowns on both (they didn't slope but should, for water run-off), some clean-up, and a cleaning. Plus, he would spray them both with a protectant, all for only $1400! Since I had already read his reviews everywhere I could, including nextdoor.com, I knew he had a sterling reputation and I could trust him. So he did the work this week and it's awesome! He's a great guy and knows his stuff. He was very patient and explained what he was doing and why, and I feel confident I made the right choice. I've already recommended him to some friends, and am happy I now have a chimney company I can really and truly trust!

Outstanding. Mr. Chimney did all of these services at a great price. The work was excellent, he cleaned up the interior of our home with no mess left behind and he was a great guy. The value and customer service were as great as the work he did... highly recommended.

Outstanding as always. We've used Troy for years and cannot say enough good things about him.

Troy is prompt and responsive. I make an appointment, he shows up on time, cleans our chimneys, and cleans up so I can't tell he's been here. A few years ago, we had Troy install a great insert in one of our fireplaces. We are completely satisfied with the product and the installation. I can't recommend him highly enough.

He was very cheap but still did quality work. My experience with him was excellent overall. He kept his appointment and stuck with the schedule. He was always very punctual.

Quick & efficient work.

They have cleaned our present house and a previous house multiple times. They are always very nice, efficient workers. Very good at making sure that the surrounding areas stay clean (especially nice since we have white carpets). Great family-owned company. Prompt response. I will always call them first. They charge $75/chimney.

They arrived two minutes early and did work quickly. They cleaned up all the mess. They were very polite, and for two people working for about 90 minutes on roof and in house, it was a reasonable price.

THE MAN WAS VERY THOROUGH AND TIDY. HE EVEN ARRIVED A LITTLE EARLY FOR THE JOB AND GOT RIGHT TO WORK. HE DID NOT MENTION THE NEED TO REPLACE THE MORTAR AT THE TOP OF THE CHIMNEY AS HAD BEEN MENTIONED 2 YEARS AGO WHEN THE WOODSTOVE INSERT WAS INSTALLED.

WE HAVE USED MR. CHIMNEY SINCE WE MOVED HERE 20 YEARS AGO. THEY ARE RELIABLE AND EFFICIENT. THEY SWEEP THE CHIMNEY AND THEN CLEAN OUT THE WOODSTOVE AND SURROUNDING AREA. IF REPAIRS ARE NEEDED, SUCH AS A NEW CAP, THEY ARE USUALLY ABLE TO DO IT RIGHT THEN. IF IT ENTAILS A RETURN TRIP, THAT IS USUALLY ACCOMPLISHED BY THE NEXT DAY.

WHEN WE PURCHASED OUR HOUSE LAST YEAR, WE WANTED TO MAKE SURE THAT THE CHIMNEY WAS CLEAN BEFORE BUILDING FIRES IN THE WOOD STOVE. MR CHIMNEY DID A GOOD SWEEPING JOB AND ALSO RECOMMENDED THAT WE REPLACE THE CAP ON THE CHIMNEY BECAUSE WE KEPT GETTING BIRDS IN OUR STOVE

I REALLY LIKED HIM, THE KID THAT DID IT. HE IS EXTREMELY CONSCIENTIOUS, BUT I THINK HE IS OVERWHELMED WITH WORK AND ISN'T VERY EFFICIENT. ONCE HE WAS DONE, HE DIDN'T COME BACK TO CHECK ON THINGS THAT I WANTED TO HAVE CHECKED ON.
