Mr. Felix Floor Inc

Overall, we have great flooring for the price paid. It is easy to care for even with our active labradoodle. Mr. Felix is very personable and quick to answer questions or concerns.

We looked at a couple of other ones and we liked Mr. Felix. He knew what he was doing. His estimate was actually higher than some of the others but we felt that he would do a good job. We saw some of his work. They finished on time. It was a 2500 square foot house. We enjoyed working with them.

I called for an estimate, they came out promptly. The estimate was well below the other two I received. I had them put hardwood into my family room that was carpeted at the time. The finished product matched my adjoining rooms very well. The transition was seamless. The wood was installed in a day and a half. Then they came back for two days following the installation to put on the varnish. They were very neat and accommodating.

The tile and woodworking they did turn out wonderful. My only complaints were the wallpaper in the corners were damaged and the carpet had to be cleaned

I called Mr Felix in a panic - I had used a friend to install hardwood floors and two weeks before moving into my new home, I had mismatched hardwood floors and no base molding installed. Mr Felix called me back immediately, was very flexible to come over and provide an estimate and completed the job ontime. I had three estimates and all were within 10% of each other. Mr Felix was the consummate professional and was very reassuring that the floors would be done in time to move-in and he did not disappoint.

Our experience with Felix was dreadful; as soon as he came in and he saw the floor he said that it was so old that it needed to be replaced entirely for $2700. He also claimed that the floor was red oak which it was not and did not believe that the floor could be refinished at all and needed to be replaced. He also provided a quote of $1300 to refinish the floor and replace the section that differed from the rest of the floor but he indicated that we would not be happy and that there was no way to match with the other floors in the house. We ended up working with L&L Hardwood Floors because when we first met them they came in and spent a lot of time inspecting the floors and explaining to us that the floors were in beautiful condition from a strength perspective and what we were seeing on top was just dulling with age. They told us that they floors were essentially new and just need a light refinishing which they did for a final price of $821. For someone as highly rated as Felix, we were expecting much more frankly. I am sure that its easier to just rip and replace, but really, do we have to be so wasteful when the floors had their entire thickness to work with and no deep stains to speak of???

Mr. Felix was prompt and on-time for estimate appointment and seemed very knowedgeable. He did not come to the house with his crew to do the work which I did not know in advance and would probably have effected my decision because what was happening was frequently different than what I'd understood from Mr. Felix about the process in the initial meeting. Most of the crew speaks zero English and the one person who did speak some English was not always present during the work. At the estimate, Mr. Felix had said a book case would be unbolted and removed for the work so that the floor underneath would match if ever removed. The crew did not do this and I called Mr. Felix several times before it was removed. They did sand and stain under the bookcase but they reinstalled it before putting the poly-eurothane coat so if it is ever removed it still won't match the floor. They did a nice job fixing the rotted spot but a second spot with dark pet stains from a prior owner, which Mr. Felix said would not show after the refinishing, still shows the stains and I really would have preferred the option to pay a few extra dollars and have it repaired like the rotted wood but since no one spoke English at the time, I couldn't even question the problem. The English speaking crew member did ask me about color because he said what was listed on his work-order was a totally different color and did I really want that? I didn't, it was supposed to stay the same color, so I was very glad he asked that before proceeding. The crew was in-and-out doing bits and pieces of different jobs and on one day not showing up until after 4:00 P.M. and because of this they lengthened the completion date from what Mr. Felix had said. I'd been told by Mr. Felix it would need to dry for 48 hours before furniture was put back and then a totally different crew, with no one speaking English, came to put the furniture back only 18 hours after the final coat of poly. My biggest complaint is that they only put 2 coats of poly and I feel it really does need another coat. They put one coat and said they were done and the floor was still very rough like an emery board so I called and complained and they put a second coat - but it still has spots that are not well covered and it is already showing small scratches. Also, the job included installing a piece of molding around the baseboards. They stained the molding but they did not put any poly on it and it is rough and the nail holes are not filled so the metal shows.

We were very pleased with the overall experience. Felix was on time and gave us an estimate to complete the hardwood flooring in our living room, dining room, entry, and guest bedroom. During the estimate, we found out that he installed the original hardwood flooring in the kitchen a few years back for the previous owner. He assured us that the other rooms would match the kitchen. Since the hardwood floor installation was the majority of our downstairs, Felix suggested that we leave our home for the installation and staining process. This was absolutely the best idea. We went on vacation for the week and absolutely trusted his staff to complete the job the week we were gone. We returned to beautiful hardwood floors. All of the furniture had felt pads on the bottom and it was placed back in the original rooms. We would absolutely recommend Mr. Felix and we will certainly call him when we are ready to replace the upstairs rooms with hardwood.

The price was comparable, but still competitive.I went with the company mostly due to his promise that he'd finish it on a very tight schedule of mine, and he's oddly trustworthy in person. 5-6 men crew worked. I did not have a chance to interact with them much as I hardly went into the job site, and they did not seem like they were there to socialize( busy working). I only talked to Felix. The site was very clean after they left. Regarding the acclamation: Felix's method is storing wood in a humidity controlled-warehouse of his and then setting the house as humidity-controlled as possible with a dehumidifier and a humidifier, as opposed to leaving wood acclimated to a house where he cannot control humidity and openings of doors and windows. This may or may not make sense depending on one's take on the matter, but it made sense to me and I went with it. Overall good experience. Glad that he suggested I consider changing fireplace tiles. I replaced existing dark brown ceramic tiles with cream marble tiles that contrast beautifully with the dark floor. Most importantly, the floor's beautiful. I hope the floor would stay this beautiful for long time. Update: the floor looks really good. I am glad with all the sugguestions Felix made.

Called to setup an appointment for an estimate. A few days later I got a response and we established the time to look at the job. The time came and went, and no one showed up at the site. I never got a call to cancel or reschedule. I won't waste my time with another appointment.

I experienced that the quality was fantastic. It was just sometimes hard communicating with them. We were very very happy with the end result.

My wife and I found Mr. Felix Floor, Inc. on Angie's list. After getting 3 estimates and researching Angie's List we went with Mr. Felix Floors. I emailed Mr. Felix on 3-14-11 and asked when would he be able to start the job, how soon could we walk on floors after they were finished, and when would he be dropping off the wood flooring so it could get acclimated. He emailed me back with the answers to my questions. The one answer that stood out was the flooring is already acclimated. I asked him how can the flooring could already be acclimated without being here before the installation. He assured me this would not be a problem.The installation was scheduled for March 31 st, Mr. Felix called and had to reschedule till following week. Stating his Fork lift broke and couldn't get to flooring. My wife and I were doing a total kitchen remodel. We had removed all the wall, base cabinets, sink, and appliances, the kitchen was bare! The following week Mr. Felix and crew show up and my wife gives Mr. Felix a check for $5000.00 and the balance we will mail when job is complete. The installation went well. I came home from work inspected the work the day it was completed and everything seemed fine and mailed the check for the remaining balance the following day. About a week and a half later I receive a call from Mr. Felix. He asked is there a problem? I responded no why, he then accuses me of not paying the remaining balance. I said I don't know what your talking about the check has already cleared. He said sorry. Now it's the end of June beginning of July the new cabinets, appliances and granite counter tops are in. Beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Then we start seeing the floor start to cup and buckle in a few places. Also, there is no longer an expansion gap around the floor. We could see this because I didn't install base board yet. I contact Mr. Felix and tell him what is happening to the floor, I stated I think it is do to the flooring not being acclimated. Again he assures me, telling me this is do to high humidity and this will happen as levels in your house change. So fall comes and still no change and I contact Mr. Felix again he tells me the humidity level needs to be 45% and let me know the condition of the floor. I said okay, I will wait till winter when the furnace is on and humidity levels should be lower. Now it's December and still know no change, I call Mr. Felix and he said humidity level still to high. I said the humidity level is 45% like you stated. He responds no it needs to be 40%. That's when I had enough and sent him pictures of the flooring. After all this he finally agrees to inspect the floors for the first time. Mr. Felix showed up at 9:00 AM on 12-10-11 as promised, I was at work at the time. After inspecting the floor, basement, new furnace and checking the humidity with his meter (reading at 25%) that he advertises on his website. He finally agreed and told my wife that there is a problem with floor. After hearing this I call Mr.Felix and get a totally different story. He said the basement was to cold and whoever installed the furnace needs to install duct work in basement. I couldn't believe what I was hearing, there are five over head registers in our basement that were installed when the house was built! The basement is unfinished, all you have to do is look up to see them. I suggested for him to come back and cut an expansion gap around the perimeter of the floor to see if this would help. My wife and I are desperate at this point, 8 months and still the floor is a mess. He agrees and I ask if this doesn't work what next? He states wait a couple a weeks and we will go from there. Workers come out while I was out of town and as they were cutting the expansion gap they stated to my wife that this is not going to do anything, need to wait a year and that the wood was acclimated it was in our office. This did not solve the problem, so I told Mr. Felix we would wait till early summer to sand and refinish the floor. In the meantime I contact the Nation Wood Flooring Association and schedule an inspection for 5-26-12. I received the results and as I figured the cupping obsevered is referred to as "acclimation cupping". Acclimation cupping is caused when the flooring is delivered to the job site and installed without the flooring being acclimated to the environmental conditions of area where it is installed. The report stated the installers failed to follow the National Wood Flooring Association basic installation guidelines. I emailed Mr. Felix the results along with pictures taken by the Inspector. He replied that the inspector was not certified by the NWFA and that if I get a NWFA inspector to inspect the floor he would do what the NWFA inspector suggested. So I contacted the NWFA, told them the situation and they verified the inspectors credentials. I then forwarded the email to Mr. Felix on 6-12-12 and have not heard from him yet.

My experience with Mr. Felix was “top notch” from the day he gave me the estimate through the completion of the project. When he came to our house to look at what we wanted him to do, we was able to give me an estimate before he left. At the time, I didn’t think anything of it; but considering that I requested estimates from 2 other companies and neither of them bothered to actually give me an estimate, I now have a greater appreciation for Mr. Felix’s quick response. He also worked with us in scheduling the job. Because we have small children and because we wouldn’t be able to use our stairs for a couple of days, we wanted to schedule the work close to a weekend so we could be out of the house. Mr. Felix was able to accommodate our needs. His crew even worked on the weekend so everything was dry by the time we got home on Sunday. His crew was very professional and did a very good job. I would definitely hire Mr. Felix again.

We had already gotten an estimate from another company, however, as I was telling the owner of Prim Painting who was doing our painting at the time, about getting someone to refinish our floors. Although he did not personally know Felix, he recommended him for the job based on Felix's work he had seen in other homes. I contacted Felix and he came out the next morning, on a Saturday to give us an estimate. His guys came out to our home a week later. We were staying in a hotel but monitored the job dailey. These guys wasted no time in removing the carpet and sanding the floors. When it came to choosing a stain, one of the guys would apply the stain on the flooring for me to see. As it turned out, what I wanted was a combination of 2 stains. He seemed to know exactly what I wanted. The final coating had to be applied twice due to the age of the wood floors so this put us in the hotel an extra 2 nights. My floors are absolutely beautiful and I am so pleased with Felix. There was no mess left behind. The dust in the home was very little. I highly recommend this company for refinishing wood flooring.

Everything went well and if we do decide to go through with the project we will seriously consider using them. He was very prompt and professional when he came to do the estimate.

We would like to shine up our wood floors. They are two years old and we originally used orange glow which leaves a hazy residue on them (DON'T USE THAT STUFF). We were looking at someone to clean them to their original state. I emailed and called the top 10 flooring people on Angie's List. Not a single one had a live person answer and only Felix returned my call. We set up a time to come out, I canceled some plans to be here. He never showed. No call, nothing. Sadly enough, out of the top super service people an Angie's list for wood flooring a no show is the most responsive we have had. So in comparison he's the best I guess. I have been working my way down the list and still have not found another person to do the job.

Everything went smoothly and I am very happy with the finished rooms. It took two days and the workers were very professional and clean. I will definitely use Mr. Felix again and would highly recommend him to anybody thinking of getting hardwood installed. I love my floors and the job that Mr. felix and his workers performed. I also had several estimates and his was very reasonable for the work completed.

Service estimate was provided in August and we delayed getting the floors done until November due to renovations. Estimate was honored and the service was great. Floors look wonderful and the repairs are not noticeable. We will hire Mr. Felix again for floor maintenance or issues.

He knows what he is doing. They were so professional. They were in and out as well as did exactly what they said they were going to do. The price was exactly what he quoted us. They did the job in a timely fashion and finished it in the time they said they were going to complete it. The job we needed done had to have somebody who really knew what they were doing. This project could have lasted for a couple of weeks. His people were timely and he had a crew of very knowledgeable people. They were very professional. It was just an excellent experience. They had very high ratings and reviews on Angie's List. They were very punctual and knowledgeable and knew what they was doing. He was easy to work him. He offered a discount because we got him through Angie's List.

Felix and his team removed all carpet/padding from second floor of home plus 1st floor family room, prepared the surface, laid and installed hard wood strip floors and then finished them in place exactly like the ones that he originally installed in our home 12 years ago. The team worked efficiently and were very clean. They removed all dust and debree. Tjhen they helped us return the furniture to the rooms. Excellent craftsman - Honest and fair price

Found Felix on Angie's List and he was all he was advertised to be. Did exactly what he said he'd do, finished the job when he said he finish and provided a few referrals for other jobs we needed done. IF you are having wood flooring done, go now where else.

Our hardwood floor looked pretty bad after fifteen years of wear and tear. I called Mr. Felix Floor, Inc. in May, 2011, after reading such good reviews on Angie's list. Mr. Felix returned my call very quickly, he stopped by my house the same day and gave me an estimate. I scheduled the work to be done in August to fit in with my schedule. I received a call from Mr. Felix on Sunday, the day before the work was to be started to confirm the scheduled job. Monday morning Mr. Felix and his crew showed up on time, he explained to his crew what needed done (including moving our washer and dryer). By Wednesday our floor was done with minimal dust and it looks wonderful, like a new floor! Mr Felix was very pleasant to work with. I would recommend his company.

They were on Angie’s List. It was good and they did a great job. The price was okay.
