Appliancezone.com is a leading on-line retailer of appliance parts and accessories for do-it-yourself homeowners. Incorporated in 2008, it was started by CEO, Jim Allen and his wife Paula, who operated an appliance repair business for nearly fourteen years prior to starting the internet company Appliance Zone.
"This is the first online review I've ever written -- my experience with this company was that bad. Three aspects that deserve attention: 1) I placed an order and tried to cancel six minutes later. Turns out they don't accept cancellations. 2) I couldn't find a phone number, so I had to work the return/refund by email. The exchange was painful -- so unhelpful I felt like I was interacting with a bad chatbot. 3) I ended up eating shipping costs (expected) and got hit for a 50% restocking fee (unexpected) because I refused the package instead of paying to ship it back. Didn't matter that it went to the correct address, was clearly labeled, and had prior return authorization. So I ended up with a $21 refund on a $60 order, and a lesson learned about where not to buy appliance parts."

Third generation appliance repair and installation. We have 3 employee's (2 technicians/installers and 1 office manager). Installation costs vary, as well as service charges. Fully insured.
"Half way through the first load, two months after initial call and well beyond the window to return, the problem is still there! Didn't fix anything! They refuse to come back out as I withheld a $48 *rescheduled* appointment fee, BECAUSE TWO MONTHS LATER IT STILL DOESNT WORK. You got paid for the work you already completed! Verified by KitchAid! What a racket! Warranty repairs pay out for a base hourly. If it's 5 billable hours and only take you 2, you still get 5. Unprofessional, different information based on who you talk to. What a joke."

"I ordered a part from this company for my dryer. They claim: 2 Day Quick Delivery! 365 Day Return Policy! Free Tech Support! I returned the unused part in their own packaging and they refused to provide a refund! Apparently, there's some hidden small print in their return policy that if you open the box and touch the product, that item is no longer eligible for a refund. They claim that the part showed signs of installation such as scuff marks. I asked for the part to be sent back to me for inspection by other professionals, but they refused because they disposed of the part. I've never encountered with such a scam company as this one and advise all to stay away from their misleadings! Good luck trying to get a refund from them, you're not getting one."

"April 10, 2023: Chris Canfield called me at 8:30 this morning to say he would be here between 10 AM and 12noon to repair our dishwasher. I was in the shower but got out and dressed by 9:50am. I went into the kitchen and saw there was a message on landline at about 10:05 from Cheryl who said that Chris was here at 9:40 but left because no one answered. I called her back and said he was not supposed to be here until 10 AM. Long story short she said she would try to reach him and ask if he could drive back to do the job. Never came. I asked her to let me know when he’s coming back I didn’t hear from her she did call me back. She said it would be sometime after one. I called again in the afternoon and she said she would reach out and that he would call with an ETA. At 2:45. I get a call from him that’s on the landline even though I gave them all my cell phone 1 million times. At 2:56 he calls me on landline and says if he’s going to be here it would be 4:30 but if not here by then, he won’t be coming today at all. We had a “discussion” HE was VERY rude‼️ He hung up on me‼️ He said if it were a refrigerator or stove, he would get here but a dishwasher?? To him, it’s like an icemaker … not important‼️‼️ I said it’s very important to me!! I told him we’re in the middle of a holiday. It’s almost 4 weeks without this dishwasher and that I have two bad hands, he didn’t care. I asked who is his manager. HE HUNG UP ON ME‼️ 1/3/2022: I called Countywide Appliance Repair and 8:57 a.m. And I spoke with CHERYL. She said that CARL is at the DENTIST (!) and he will call me when he gets in to let me know the timeframe of his arrival for our REFRIGERATOR repair. I reiterated to her the issues we’ve had in the past, what’s been going on … and to PLEASE make sure we get service today!! 12/21/21: after Brian & Owen pulled out refrigerator, I called Whirlpool/Kitchen Aid for service. We’re scheduled for January 3, 2022. But on waitlist for possible earlier date if they get a cancellation. (NOTE: See Whirlpool/Kitchen Aid for service call."

If your refrigerator needs to be repaired, contact an appliance repair company to diagnose the issue and repair your refrigerator. It’s okay to leave it plugged in and running, but unplug it if it makes unusual noises.
Signs that your refrigerator may need repairs include:
Food items are not being held at the correct temperature (between 35 and 38 degrees Fahrenheit)
The fridge is using too much energy and seems to run all the time
Loud and/or unusual noises
Possible causes include:
A damaged door
Faulty condenser coil
Malfunctioning control board
Contacting an appliance repair professional as soon as possible can help save items in your fridge from spoiling. Common fridge repairs include the compressor, control board, thermostat, defrost motor, coils, and ice maker.
If you’re having problems with your dryer, contact an appliance repair professional as soon as possible to inspect and repair it. Having a faulty dryer can be a major inconvenience in the home.
Your dryer may need repairs if:
It isn’t turning on
It’s not releasing enough heat
The drum doesn’t spin
Common repairs include:
A damaged or worn-out belt or
Damaged or shorted electrical wiring
A control board malfunction
Dryers tend to overheat or become short-circuited over time, especially after heavy use. Other common dryer repairs include door switches, timers, and control boards.
If the unit is not under warranty, then you may want to call a reliable appliance repair technician to diagnose the issue and recommend a repair. Some of the most common washing machine issues are inadequate water supply to the unit, poor drainage due to clogging, leaks, and excessive vibration while washing. Like ovens, the cost to repair a washing machine will vary widely depending on which issue you’re experiencing.
The average cost to repair an appliance depends on the appliance, make, model, the part that needs repair, and how long it takes to replace or repair a part. The following are the average repair costs for the most common appliances:
Refrigerator: $200–$300
Freezer: $90–$500
Oven, cooktop, range: $100–$500
Microwave: $50–$400
Dishwasher: $160–$300
Garbage disposal: $70–$250
Washing machine: $50–$450
Dryer: $100–$400
Appliance repair contractors may charge $40 to $120 per hour for labor, and most also provide the replacement parts necessary at an additional cost. It’s also important to note that these prices can go up on holidays and emergency fees may apply if you need your appliance fixed immediately.
It's good to contact the manufacturer first to see if any warranties still exist, and if they have any specific repair persons they recommend. Some specialty units or smart units may require the assistance of a manufacturer-approved technician. Oven issues can be more challenging to diagnose than other appliances in the home because many of the parts are difficult to access for inspection or replacement. Some common oven repairs involve replacing damaged burners, heating coils, or electric cables. Purchasing additional parts, such as a new heating coil may also increase the total repair cost.
