In the first few years Andy Sr. was a one man operation. Over the next 10 years Andy with his wife Nancy moved the business to Government way and built a retail location. Their son And Jr. started working full time in 1995. He has taken over operations and manages the operation. Senior retired in 2008 but still shows up for coffee and around lunch time almost daily. 40 Years later Andy's Heating and Cooling is still doing business the old fashion way with a handshake. Servicing and installing furnaces, heat pumps and air conditioners. Come and visit Andy's showroom which features all of the latest wood fired stoves, pellet stoves, and gas stoves from Quadra-fire, Heatilator and Heat-N-Glo. Andy's also carries the Big Green Egg smokers -grills. Carrier award winning dealer in service and sales.

"Chad Jensen, the service technician with Andy's Heating & Cooling, arrived promptly this morning. He was very thorough checking and cleaning the fireplace. He explained a few things about the fireplace that we were not aware of. He was very pleasant and worked efficiently. We would definitely call on Andy's in the future."

The Stove Guy specializes in the quality installation and repair of fireplaces and stoves. I have over 22 years experience and can work on most makes and models of pellet, gas and wood burning stoves and fireplaces. I also sell new appliances and can replace your old fireplace or stove.

"I’d love to leave a review on the craftsmanship of the “Stove Guy” but I cannot because I am not worthy of their time. Their customer service is abysmal and I would be embarrassed if I was the business owner. Any time you call the woman answering the phone complains at length about how many calls she’s had to answer “40 calls this morning, it’s a Monday, so I didn’t have time to really listen to your message but I got the gist”. She makes it very clear that my business isn’t needed but they’ll do me a favor by running their business. After trying three times to make an appointment for a quote and not getting a call back I eventually got a hold of them and scheduled something out several months. I made an appointment for 10am. The receptionist calls at 8:24 to confirm my appointment between 9:30-10 I told her my appointment was for 10 and I had a phone meeting at 9:00. She tells me that it’s my fault and I should have known that 10 was just an approximation. She calls back at 8:45 and tells me “actually he’s already on his way out there. I told him you had a meeting at 9 and he said he would be there already”. So my meeting is cancelled and I head over to the property by 9. I wait 2 hours and he never shows up. I call the office multiple times and eventually the receptionist calls back and tells me I’m not allowed to be upset. The guy will get there when he gets there and that she’s “not going to deal with” me because I’m lucky I got an appointment with them because they are so busy. I asked her to have him call me when he gets to the property and I will meet him there. News flash. He didn’t show."

Gas log services FAQs

A gas log fireplace should be inspected and serviced as needed once a year. Preventative maintenance can help keep your fireplace in working condition and save money in the long run by avoiding more costly repairs on parts that could have been fixed sooner with a regular inspection.

The cost difference between a gas fireplace and a wood-burning fireplace depends on the type of wood-burning fireplace installed. The cost to install a gas fireplace tends to be cheaper than the cost to install a brick wood-burning fireplace. Installing a gas fireplace costs about $3,600 on average, whereas the cost to build a masonry wood-burning fireplace can go up to $30,000. The cost to install a wood-burning fireplace insert or stove can cost from $700 to $6,500, about the same as a gas fireplace on average.

The cost to repair a fireplace depends on the type, extent of repairs needed, and your location. The average cost to repair a fireplace varies depending on the part of the fireplace that needs work:

  • Firebox: $160–$2,500

  • Refractory panel: $200–$300

  • Hearth: $150–$800

  • Mantel: $500–$1,200

  • Pilot light: $100–$350

  • Igniter: $100–$150

  • Gas valve: $150–$300

  • Thermocouple: $75–$350

  • Thermopile: $75–$350

Yes, it can be worth installing a gas fireplace, depending on your home heating needs. The cost to install a gas fireplace can be much lower than the cost to install a comparable wood-burning fireplace. The convenience of starting a fire with the flip of a switch and turning it off just as quickly makes a gas fireplace a big time saver over starting and maintaining a wood-fueled fire. A gas fireplace also does not require ash cleanup or frequent chimney cleaning to remove creosote and other buildup that can lead to chimney fires. Gas fireplaces burn and heat much more cleanly than wood fireplaces.

A gas fireplace insert costs about $3,600 to install, on average. The cost to install a gas log insert ranges from about $700 to $6,500, depending on the size, type of insert, how it works, and heating needs. Gas fireplaces need electrical and gas lines installed properly, so hiring a pro is recommended rather than trying to DIY installation.
