We called to schedule an appointment and Mr. Chimney arranged for Martin to come the very next day. Martin arrived right on time and was very professional and courteous. He showed us the chimney cap and how it would be installed. After installing the cap and brushing the chimney, he came back inside to vacuum and clean the fireplace. Martin was very conscientious and made sure to wipe up all dust and smears. We would definitely go back to him for any future required work.

Very professional, top-notch service; from the phone call to set-up the appointment, to the van driving away after all was done, these folks were wonderful. My service rep, Martin, was an absolute pleasure. He arrived on time, cleaned the chimney, did an inspection, explained my current situation while showing me the problem areas and made recommendations. We received an immediate quotation along with a description of what would be done and an appointment date that was immediate and not delayed. Martin showed up right on time and did an efficient and very professional job, leaving everything spotlessly clean. Martin has been cleaning chimneys for over 20 years. He is friendly, curtious, clean, and knows what he's doing. He is most professional. I look forward to having him back as the need arises.

Great service - punctual, professional, efficient. Only glitch was that his vacuum filled up and charcoal dust was then spewed throughout the living room. He was extremely apologetic, and gave us an appropriate discount, as well as helped us clean up. Mistakes happen, so I won't dock any points there, would just suggest that you not have your chimney cleaned on the day of a dinner party or when house guests are arriving :)

After buying our house, we finally got around to getting the fireplace in order. The house was built in 1929 and the fireplace had seen some use. I called Mister Chimney and made an appointment. The worker showed up early, although he called to ensure this was okay. He cleaned the chimney and found that the damper had been corroded to the point of being useless. He recommended that I get it replaced, buy informed me that this was not necessary. The gentleman then took measurements and we scheduled a time for him to come install the damper after fabrication. Once again, the worker showed up on time, was very polite and professional and installed the damper without issue. One side note: I accidentally overpaid for the service because on the invoice a 5 looked like a 9. However, they called me later in the afternoon and said they were mailing a check for the difference right away. Very honest.

Arrived on time and completed work quickly and efficiently. One suggestion: booties over shoes for inside work. Very happy overall with the service and would definately hire again.

Please see above - he was on time, done in 40 minutes and gave me tips on how to get the contractor who did the concrete work on the chimney to come back and fix it without my having to pay extra. What a wonderful experience!

I saw some mixed reviews on AngiesList for Mr Chimney, and I was apprehensive to contact them. I called for an appointment, and they scheduled Martin to come out in two days. The day of service, I got a call to reschedule an hour earlier, but Martin came out at the originally scheduled time. Martin was very professional and courteous. He swept the chimney and inspected it for safety. While the chimney is safe to use, he provided me with suggested repairs and left me with information on the repair he suggested. He recommended I call around to get a second opinion, but the price sounded reasonable and the repair seems to be warranted from what Martin was able to show me. I would absolutely do business with Mr Chimney again, and I will ask for Martin to be sure I get excellent service.

Martin and crew came on time, was very courteous, and worked quickly and efficiently. Made suggestions based on my questions and was an overall great experience.

I initially called Mister Chimney to set up a cleaning for my chimney and my upstairs neighbors. Martin arrived promptly, did an excellent job, left no mess behind and was incredibly courteous and professional. After the cleaning Martin asked if we had a smoke problem with our chimney. We did. He pointed out that our 1930s home had the damper placed quite high and that the smoke was building up below it. Additionally, he pointed out where a couple bricks had come loose (they fell behind and not into our fireplace). He clearly laid out what he felt the solution to our smoke problem was (removing the old damper and installing one right above the firebox) and provided an estimate on the spot, even inviting me to call around to compare prices. We decided to stick with Martin and have the repair done as soon as possible. We could not be happier. The fireplace no longer smokes and we are ready for winter!

Very professional when calling to set up appointment. Worker arrived on time, go to work immediately. When job was done (about 30 mins later), cleaned everything up very thoroughly. Explained what we found, what he did, and recommended future care.

Inexpensive and just fine. The man who came out really didn't speak English, but all pricing and details were discussed ahead of time with the phone person so no issues. He had some trouble explaining one problem he found with moisture. However, he was able to explain in limited English, with gesture, and by pointing at some diagrams he kept handy until I understood that we had an issue with moisture coming in to our wooden chimney. The fix is to add some flashing and waterproofing at a later date.

Hugo and Jose arrived about 15 minutes early for the chimney sweeping appointment. Jose did the work while Hugo watched. When the chimney and fireplace walls had been swept, Hugo wrote up the report/bill. The amount of the bill was $115 as quoted. However, Hugo wrote that the chimney was "not OK to use" because the "fire box back wall is cracked." To be able to use the fireplace, he quoted $350 to patch it to last only 1-2 years, and he quoted $750 to replace the back wall to last at least 10 years. I asked Hugo to show me the damage. He pointed to where he said it was cracked, but I couldn't see it. A few days later, I called another professional chimney sweep company to get a second opinion. The second company came out and inspected the fireplace for $79, and wrote a report concluding that there were no cracks and the "firebox is in satisfactory condition - Ok to use." I called Mister Chimney and related what happened to Fatima Rodriguez. I said if I had taken their word for it and asked them to perform the recommended work, rather than paying for a second opinion, it probably would have cost an extra, unnecessary $750. She seemed sympathetic and said she would speak to the owner and call me back later. She did call back and said that the owner, Martin, had decided to send me a refund for the cost of the second opinion. That refund check for $79 has been received.

Very easy process and did not take very long at all. He arrived on time, cleaned the chimney, and did not make a mess. We'll definitely call them again.

Mister Chimney handled the challenges of my older fireplace well. The first damper wasn't a good fit, so we came to an agreement for a reduced price for a better fitting damper (these are custom for each job). I didn't pay any labor for the second damper install. Through the whole process of trial-and-error, I learned a lot from reading on-line about 'draw' and discussed these topics with the installer to know what my options were in order to avoid smoke coming into my living room. Ultimately, it seemed the nature of my older 1920s fireplace would be a challenge for any chimney expert not used to working in older homes. After multiple visits over many months, I'm satisfied with the end result which allows me to burn a fire log but not wood logs. If I were to do it again, I might have researched my project a bit more before engaging anyone and possibly would have hired an experienced mason to address the core design issues with my fireplace (some mason-like work was necessary in my project). Mister Chimney was punctual, professional, competitive and great clean-up.

I had contact Mr. Chimney to see if they covered the Oakland area. The very nice lady who answered the phone said that they would come over since I had more than one chimney to clean (2 at my church and 1 at my home). She also gave me a 2-fer discount on they church cleanings. The 2-man team arrived on time at the church, explained what they were going to do and promptly went to work. They cleaned & inspected one chimney on the first floor and one on the second. They were quick and efficient and very, very neat. They discovered that the 1st floor chimney could not be used due to explained (verbally and in writing) why. They then packed up and went to my house. My 82-yr old mother was at home and they greeted her, explained what they were going to do and quickly and again very, very neatly cleaned the chimney. They even took the time to explain to my mother about the ash drop and how it worked. They discoved that my chimney had a crack in the firebox that need to be repaired before we could use it (yikes - we'd been using it!). They quoted the cost to repair (we haven't done it yet because we procrastinate!). My mother liked them very much "They were such nice young men!"

I called Mister Chimney to clean the chimney, I waited for them and no one came, during my appt. I did find a piece of paper outside, so someone tried to come bye, but when I called the company, no response not even the day after.

Excellent. They showed up on time, were courteous, professional and efficient. They pointed out some potential issues that may need to be addressed down the road, but were very credible with respect to what needed to be done in the short run vs. long run (i.e., no hard selling). Great service.

They gave great service. They told us about the cracks in the chimney that the previous company did not. We had been using it which was fire hazard. Excellent service company.

Everything was fantastic. I expected that we'd need to replace the damper (and told the sweeper that), but he didn't try to sell me that service, saying that our existing damper was in good shape. He was clean, neat, friendly, and nice to my baby daughter. He was running a little late (35 minutes), but called to let me know, which is all I really ask.

I called for an appointment and was offered a time just 3 days later. Martin Nava arrived about a half hour early. He and his helper cleaned two chimneys in each of two flats, also observed the chimney tops to ensure they were in proper shape. They cleaned up completely. Martin filled out a report form on each of the chimneys. They were friendly and courteous. They gave us a a multi-chimney discount as had been promised by phone.

This was a great experience. The representative was very friendly and knowledgeable. They were very efficient and clean. They recommended a cleaner to use for the firebox and actually ordered a bottle for me, AND dropped it off at my house the next week. This was a very positive experience and I highly recommend Mister Chimney.

I was a little concerned at first that their crew was so available in early fall to do a repair. The sales representative, Martin, communicated very clearly. He gave us a written estimate on the spot, then visited again to measure (again) the chimneys. He was on time for each and every meeting. We received a simple contract which clearly stated the cost and work to be done. The work was done in half a day, not the two days they allowed, which was great. Their crew cleaned up after themselves and were careful not to traipse through our house at random. We received an invoice afterwards, which was even divided between us and our neighbors for whom part of the work was done. In short all of our needs and expectations were met!

The cleaning and repair work was completed to our satisfaction. The damper was a different story. They missed and or were late to multiple appointments. Once the new damper was finally installed, it made the sound WORSE. We called to complain and asked them to put back the original damper only to be told was lying about the increased noise and about having a damper to start with. They finally agreed to put a second damper up by the cap and that didn't help at all. When I called to ask for my $650 refunded because the new damper didn't work, I received no return phone call. I wrote a letter only to have it returned unopened. I sent a certified letter only to have it refused. So, now I am out $650 and still have four blankets stuffed up my chimney just to keep the noise down. If you have a choice to use any other chimney repair company - do so!! These guys are dishonest, don't stand behind their work and any customer complaint will not receive a response.
