"Avoid working with DVAC at all costs. When I initially requested a quote for the installation, I specifically asked for a 3-ton high-efficiency heat pump. Unfortunately, the experience with DVAC has been nothing short of frustrating. They began by stating that extensive work needed to be done, charging for it all upfront. However, when it came time to install, they drastically lowered the quality of the equipment, gaslighted me, and lied about what was being provided. Hidden charges surfaced right after my existing system was removed. The issues I discovered included but not limited to: 1.The installed heat pump is only 2-ton heat pump instead of the required 3-ton heat pump stated in the estimate. 2.The furnace provided is of lower quality than what was agreed upon. 3.The ducts installed are too small for the system. 4.The electrical cable used may be undersized for 3-ton heat pump. 5. All works were unpermitted. Throughout the project, I repeatedly verified the permit status with DVAC, including on the installation day (8/15). They assured me everything was in order. However, on 8/20, I confirmed with the City of Kirkland that none of the work had been permitted—a clear violation of both city regulations and our contract. Given these serious issues, I requested a full refund and the removal of all unpermitted work. DVAC refused to comply with the contract and denied the refund. If there were a zero-star option, I wouldn't even give them a single star."

We are a family owned and operated business, and our employees currently consist of 3 family members. Our Master Mechanic and owner is Marlon, he previously worked at BMW and before that Nissan. We currently offer 10% for any new customers! This summer we are offering a Summer Tune Up special for $119 (includes replacement of in-cabin air filter, A/C check, cooling system inspection, & multi point inspection)

"Marlon (NW Autowork) is top notch! I have a e90 m3 and had him and his tech Spencer install solid rear subframe bushings for me. They did a fantastic job! A+. If you have a bmw I highly suggest this shop especially if you’re in the Tacoma area. I’d say they are the best and I wouldn’t even bother with any other shops if you have a bmw and live in the south end. They are really the best and pricing is fair. You’ve earned my trust Marlon and Spencer is awesome. I’ll be back again for future mods A++++ Thank you again guys!"

We are a full service Electrical Contractor

"A&M bid on the job with a stripped down scope of work but for the same price as the original contractor. After we signed the contract, they missed 40% of their scheduled appointments. They sent a different guy out each time. They were not prepared with the parts and supplies specified in the electrical design and had to leave multiple times for parts, or order parts and come back. They did not complete the work specified in the contract. Bare wires shorted out in the main light switch box and required us to hire another electrician to repair because A&M refused to. Darin violently and legally threatened us and our general contractor when it was requested that the work be completed per agreement. Unethical. Unprofessional."

Your Gas Fireplace Specialists! Any gas fireplace repair or cleaning we can help you with. Check us out on Yelp or on our website! Please call for any questions.

"Renting a unit, landlord had turned off the fireplace 10 years prior and it wouldn't come back on. Chase came out, diagnosed and fixed everything, cleaned it all up, and showed me how to keep it going even if we turn it off every summer. I've since been able to help several other folks in our complex sort out minor issues with theirs, but when it's not dead simple I refer them to Chase. 10/10, would use again, have recommended to others. Total was 723.36$, I believe that broke down as 159$ base fee, 499$ for all the work, plus tax. I don't remember the distribution in the work/cleaning/etc."

Heating and air conditioning services FAQs

Knowing how long your existing HVAC units can last is essential to determine if you need a repair or replacement. Typically, most modern air conditioning units can last between 15 to 20 years, and most furnaces can work properly for 15 to 30 years. If your HVAC system is on the older side and you decide to replace one unit, it might make sense to replace both simultaneously to save on costs and future hassle.

While different HVAC contractors might offer higher or lower prices than competitors, the best time to replace your HVAC system is when customer demand is low. The beginning of summer and the beginning of winter bring the most demand for HVAC systems, so if you can, consider replacing your HVAC units in the early spring or fall. Many HVAC companies offer special off-season coupons that help lower the overall cost.

The average cost to hire an HVAC contractor is between $50 and $150 per hour if charging hourly. However, some HVAC contractors will charge a flat fee by the type of service they are performing—for example, an inspection can cost between $150 to $500. Keep in mind that emergency repairs—which are made after business hours or around major holidays—generally cost more than scheduled repairs.

Yes, most states require HVAC technicians to be certified, and for good reason. Hiring an unlicensed HVAC technician could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations.

As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:

  • The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check

  • Required to have applicable state and local licenses

  • Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review

  • Paying to advertise their services

  • Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi

Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.

The average cost of HVAC repairs is around $350. However, that price can be as low as $100 or as high as $2,000 or more, depending on the repair. For example, replacing a capacitor is a relatively inexpensive repair, ranging from $100 to $500. However, a compressor repair is a more expensive repair, ranging from $750 to $2,000.
