"We had Energy Home Pros come out to quote us for a total home window replacement at my mom's house. They quoted her around $30K and the guy even "haggled" with his manager over the phone to get a couple thousand discounted off of this. They said they would email the quote over. I followed up a few times to get this emailed quote to see for myself what they were trying to sell my mom for that much money. After many messages to them for the quote to be sent over, they have not responded at all. I am guessing the sales person realized that the quote would go to someone else for scrutiny and he could not trick my mother into this sale easily. Major predatory behavior. Watch out, folks. BTW, two other extremely well rated companies quoted us around $11K for total home window replacement."

"Their service (double door replacement) was performed on schedule. BUT... 1) new door was set up for electric door opener; i.e., no grab-handles inside or out. And Tech had no handles on the truck 2) Estimate included requirement for 3-foot workspace inside door and under rails ("C" shaped clear space). The installer demanded 4-foot space at door and would not proceed without $175 added fee. He AND I then cleared the space in under 5-minutes. -- That's over $2100 an hour for his effort. A bit extreme. Estimator should be better informed."

If you have a problem with your window, such as broken glass, minor leaks, or a problem with your window being stuck, repairing the broken part might be a cheaper option than replacing the entire window. It’s possible to install a door yourself if the wall opening already exists, but the work is rather complicated, and a professional installation is usually well worth the investment. For your door to work and close properly, you’ll need to shim and level the door frame in your wall perfectly, which can be difficult. Additionally, we recommend you always hire a professional door installer to place an exterior door, as mistakes during the installation process can lead to poor security for your home.
