We will stop construction and re-calculate the estimate, agree in writing on the solution, and continue. If other sub-contractors are needed (major plumbing, major electrical, etc.) I will contact, contract, supervise and be personally responsible for their work on your project. My normal billing procedure is to ask for 1/2 down with any major credit card, check or cash with progress payments until the end of the project. The 1/2 down is to cover materials specifically required for your project and to secure a firm commitment in blocking out the time on my schedule required to get the job done. A majority of my projects involve owners or property management who can not readily visit the property being worked on. To keep people informed and involved. I use the internet to send send proposals, invoices, receive payments, upload CAD drawings and upload progress pictures via email or to a secure website. If there are any questions, concerns or comments about any phase of the project, I try to make it easy to communicate and document my customer's needs. All uploaded photos can have comments on them, and online conversation threads can be created to document everything that is discussed about the project. All of these online interactions are secure and only available to me, my design/quality control staff and you. These interactions can be easily shared by my customer to anyone they wish, anywhere in the world to help guide them through the home improvement process or even boast to the world of the work they are doing to their home.
