"Paul came and tested some things on our furnace because our ecobee thermostat kept restarting/cycling on cold mornings so it was taking a long time to get up to the temp it normally is for daytime. My husband suspected it was a sensor but turned out the censor was doing its job but turning things off because otherwise it would be overheating. We could have either replaced a part but likely have to do it again and the furnace was about 12 years old or just get a new furnace for less than twice the cost of the replacement part. We decided to just get a new, more efficient furnace. He came out on Wednesday to test, dropped off the furnace Wednesday evening and then installed Thursday afternoon. He even cleaned up some of the utility room and put in a new hose for our dehumidifier. Super good at communicating and really gave us a great price for a Lennox top of the line furnace! Would recommend!"

"The situation occurred on October 14, 2024, when we scheduled a plumber to assess an issue with our water softener at our home. The plumber spent approximately 45 minutes on-site and primarily worked to clear a blockage from our sump pump. We were charged $1,000 per hour for labor, with the total charge reflecting this rate. When we questioned the cost, we were informed that this is the company's flat rate and that it is non-negotiable. Given the brevity of the visit and the nature of the work performed, this fee seems exorbitant, and I am concerned that it may constitute price gouging. I understand that while businesses have the right to set their rates, the practice of charging excessive and unreasonable rates, especially without transparency or justification, raises ethical and legal concerns."

I brought them in to work on furnace/AC unit/split AC unit servicing garage (based on a promotional price for the first two). It was found my split unit needed a recharge for coolant and I was told that it'd only be 5 lbs of coolant and that this would be priced by the pound (which was reasonable). The bill came and they tacked on a flat charge of $219 for the coolant (this is in addition to the $129 charge to look over the split unit). I felt baited-and-switched. I also contacted them about this, and the answer came down to "This is additional profit for us added onto your bill." Not pleased. At all. Particularly since the coolant in question costs approximately $6 per pound and they only used 5 lbs (one would assume that the $129 charge built in enough profit for labor/licenses/equipment due to the limited time spent working on the split unit. Apparently not). Comfort By Design does excellent work, and they do stand by their work, but just be VERY CAREFUL in finding out what they're going to charge you, particularly if something extra comes up when they're doing a job."
