Five Star Heating and Air Conditioning, has been in business since 1997. We take great pride in our quality of work and excellent customer service. Call today for all your heating and air conditioning work.

"Whenever you have a need for an HVAC company, 5 star is the company to call. They are professional, courteous, and knowledgeable of their work and the equipment in question. When I had a new furnace and central air system installed they advised me on what was best for my home the size of the space being heated and or cooled. Not what they could sell me that was larger than I needed. This company is reputable and honest. Call them the next time you need any and all HVAC service. You won't be disappointed."

Haven Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc., is family owned in South Haven, MI. We have over 25 years experience in the residential and commercial industry and strive to give 100% customer satisfaction

"Communication with this company is like pulling teeth. Our installation team was friendly and had exceptional HVAC knowledge. However, i do not feel like we got quality work for the price tag. After our initial installation, the furnace was left functional but incomplete with no follow up appointment arranged. I had to call multiple times a day( as well as my wife) to get a follow up appointment and get the work finished...ish. When i did FINALLY get a hold of someone via email or telephone, there was always some sort of excuse. After 3 times out to our home, the furnace is in and the issues are fixed...for the most part(not including the hole in my linoleum and a soaked garage). Do yourself a favor and find somebody else."

"There service Technician came out to diagnose my malfunctioning furnace and said he would have to red tag my furnace because the heat exchanger was cracked, I could no longer use it. after the furnace was removed so they could install the new one I took it apart to check for cracks I found none. however, in the process I found a dead bird in the combustion air pipe that was causing the malfunction a simple fix remove bird, and it would have been fine. instead, it cost me $6500 for a furnace I really did not need. I Contacted the service manager who gave me nothing but grief. I will not do any new business with them."

Home Warranty prides itself on providing the best value in the home warranty industry, making our Home Protection Plan the home warranty of choice wherever we do business.

"PSA: DO NOT PURCHASE ANY HOME WARRANTYS! If you are purchasing a home and the seller is offering a covered home warranty, DO NOT TAKE IT! Instead, request for the seller to pay you the cash value of the home warranty(the seller is already going to purchase it as apart of the sale). Home Warranty's do not cover the parts/systems that commonly fail in appliances, so you're paying someone to diagnose an issue to find out that it is not covered. Take the cash for the price of any Home Warranty that is offered during the purchase of a home, and in general, don't purchase home warranty's, you do not benefit from them, only the company does."

In over two and a half decades about 85% of the 1,300 installation are open loop and the rest closed loop systems. It is our goal to provide technical information, design assistance, installation, and service for those desiring to take advantage of the efficiency and reliability of geothermal energy systems. While much information can be distilled into a few pages on this site, we welcome your inquiries to us directly by using the contact information supplied. We want to be of service to you, whether you are a home owner, architect or contractor, Geothermal Specialist Inc. is here to help you make use of this dynamic technology.

"If a zero star was possible, this would be a zero. Geothermal Specialists contacted us in January 2018 to schedule an appointment for a Comfort Care Maintenance service that they recommended to us. Since we had previously used this company to provide repair service on our Geothermal Unit, we agreed to schedule the appointment. A technician was sent to our home on 3/6/18 and completed the $195 service . Minutes after the tech left, my husband noticed that the Geothermal unit was now leaking. He called the tech back to our house and after examining the leak, the tech explained that a chemical he flushed through the unit as a part of the maintenance process created the leak as the unit was very old and the chemicals were too harsh. He then recommended that we purchase a new unit ($11,000) to replace the old one, but if we were unable to do that, they could repair the leak for approx. $700 but it would be a week before someone could return to do it. We asked to speak with the owned since this seemed unfair as their company encouraged and mislead us into receiving the service, and now the service had caused a leak that they were now asking us to pay an additional $700 to repair. On 3/6/18 we spent the night without heat, on 3/7/18 we called another company to repair the unit. The company that repaired the unit on 3/7/18 only charged us $250, compared to the $700 Geothermal Services wanted to charge to fix a leak they caused. The reader can do the math on that. After contacting the main office to request a refund for the $195 comfort care maintenance service, Steve, the owner of Geothermal Specialists called me at 5 pm on 3/7/18 and would not take any accountability for the fact that theirmaintenance service initiated the leak on our unit. He then said he would issue a $195 refund, ONLY IF we agreed to sever ties with their company, call someone else to repair the leak they caused, and not share any negative feedback about their company online/ or otherwise. We of course didn't agree to that for a number of reasons, which should be obvious to most people. He then said he would no longer issue a refund since we could not agree to the terms he outlined. I filed a complaint with the Indiana Attorney General's consumer protection office and the Better Business Bureau, both complaints are currently being investigated. I was not at all surprised to discover that this was not the first complaint filed with the Better Business Bureau on Geothermal Specialists. We have never had to leave negative feedback on any company we have ever done business with, but this was the worst experience we've ever had with any company. After using this company's repair services for over I yeah paying in full for each service, even if we felt the prices were inflated, we were very disappointed by the carelessness of the service provided and the failed attempt by the owner Steve to intimidate us as if we have done something wrong. Which is why we made it a priority to share the long details of this experience, so the public can be informed."

Heating and air conditioning services FAQs

Knowing how long your existing HVAC units can last is essential to determine if you need a repair or replacement. Typically, most modern air conditioning units can last between 15 to 20 years, and most furnaces can work properly for 15 to 30 years. If your HVAC system is on the older side and you decide to replace one unit, it might make sense to replace both simultaneously to save on costs and future hassle.

While different HVAC contractors might offer higher or lower prices than competitors, the best time to replace your HVAC system is when customer demand is low. The beginning of summer and the beginning of winter bring the most demand for HVAC systems, so if you can, consider replacing your HVAC units in the early spring or fall. Many HVAC companies offer special off-season coupons that help lower the overall cost.

The average cost to hire an HVAC contractor is between $50 and $150 per hour if charging hourly. However, some HVAC contractors will charge a flat fee by the type of service they are performing—for example, an inspection can cost between $150 to $500. Keep in mind that emergency repairs—which are made after business hours or around major holidays—generally cost more than scheduled repairs.

Yes, most states require HVAC technicians to be certified, and for good reason. Hiring an unlicensed HVAC technician could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations.

As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:

  • The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check

  • Required to have applicable state and local licenses

  • Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review

  • Paying to advertise their services

  • Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi

Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.

The average cost of HVAC repairs is around $350. However, that price can be as low as $100 or as high as $2,000 or more, depending on the repair. For example, replacing a capacitor is a relatively inexpensive repair, ranging from $100 to $500. However, a compressor repair is a more expensive repair, ranging from $750 to $2,000.
