When they come out and give you an estimate they are very fair and polite. I called back the next day and he came out the next afternoon and scheduled my work to start the following Monday. They finished promptly. They were excellent.

My overall experience in dealing with Butcher AC was excellent. I was impressed with Butcher's knowledge, service, price, professionalism, and product from start to finish. No detail was too small and no detail went overlooked. The service crew called me before they left to come to my home, and they arrived on time. They completely removed my old AC system and replaced it with a new system leaving no trace of them being there. I also had them blow insulation in my attic while they were there to help with the summertime heat. They were nice and courteous, and cleaned up after themselves. Before they left, they made sure that we understood the work done and how to properly control the system. The service manager did a great job at coordinating the install and he was present periodically during day to ensure the smooth and timely transition from my old AC to the new AC. Every person that I dealt with at Butcher from the top down was exceptionally professional and service oriented. I could not be happier with the outcome of this job. I will definitley use Butcher for my future heat and AC needs.

I bought my first home in Lafayette, and the house inspector had suggested I get the AC/heating unit serviced and cleaned as it looked like neither had been done in some time. My mother recommended I call Butcher Air Conditioning to do the job, because both she and my brother use them and have "always" been "very" pleased with their service. The technician showed me pictures on his cell phone of the inside of the package unit which revealed that the unit was all rusted on the inside and the heating part of the unit had a hole in it that leaked gas when operated. None of this was disclosed by the previous owner and was not picked up by the house inspector either. Butcher AC said that I should have gotten them to inspect the unit before I bought the house, and they were puzzled as to why my realtor did not recommend I do that. Live and learn. That was first-time home buyer naivity on my part. Before I buy another house, I will definitely have Butcher check out the unit. Had I known the unit had to be replaced, I would not have bought this house ... especially since there were so many other costly things to replace/repair that were not disclosed by the seller and were not picked up on by the house inspector. I feel like I am living an episode of HGTV's "Holmes on Homes." Hey! Maybe he'll come fix all the many costly problems with my lemon of a house. Ha! Ha! Anyway, the Butcher technician told me that the heating portion of the unit had to be disconnnected because it was a danger. Luckily, I moved into this house during the summer and not the winter, because he said I could have been killed from the gas had I operated the heating unit. He said the AC could be operated a little longer but that it was just a matter of time before it broke down as well. It finally did on Monday, August 29. I called Butcher AC back, and by about Noon on Wednesday, Aug. 31, they had ordered (from New Orleans) and installed a new Trane package ac/heating unit. Additionally, the house had previously been added onto, but the ducts had not been rearranged to accommodate the extra space. As a result, the back rooms were not getting very cool. Butcher AC fixed this problem, and now the whole house is very cool. Moreover, the old unit had been leaking water due to condensation and forming a constant wet area around the ac, which Orkin said could attract termites -- especially since it was in front of the added on portion of the house. To avoid this happening with the new unit, the Butcher technicians fixed it so that the condensation water dripped into a little pipe that went into the ground rather than above ground. I can't say enough good things about Butcher Air Conditioning. From the sales reps to the technicians to the administrative staff: They are the most organized, efficient, hard-working, courteous, professional people I have ever dealt with. Also, they have all of their employees thoroughly background checked, so you feel very comfortable having them in your home. My ac/heating unit broke down at a very inopportune time for me financially. However, Butcher had two possible ways for me to finance the new ac/heating unit -- 6-months paid as cash with no interest, or 4 years with 9% interest. The latter option may seem steep, but when you don't have the cash to get something as necessary as an ac/heating unit replaced, it's nice to know that you have these options -- especially when the bank who owns your mortgage (or any other bank, for that matter) won't give you a loan until you've lived in your house for a year. Some of Butcher's prices may be a little higher than some other companies in Lafayette, but you definitely get what you pay for. My Mom and brother have been very happy clients of theirs for many years, and I suspect that I will be as well. When you are a regular customer, you get even better -- and often same day -- service from them. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a company to service their ac/heating unit. They have a great reputation in Lafayette for a reason.

AC went out on a weekend, called for an emergency repair. But Butcher repair man said the unit was shot. It was so old, they didn't have parts for it. It would have taken about two weeks to repair it and it couldn't be expected to last more than a year. So, on June 20th, a salesman from Butcher came, and we discussed options. These ranged from about $3,000 for a new unit of equivalent power (but inadequate to our needs) to a heat pump system for about $10,000. We had also made and appt. with a Sears sales person for the next day, the 21st. They failed to show up. So I called Butcher back and we made arrangements for a heat pump system, that was larger than what we'd had before, but not the biggest available. On Wednesday, they arrived in the morning and removed the old system, and installed the new one. They were done by early afternoon, and it was cleaned up and everything removed. They were fast, efficient and very courteous. They were great. Oh and the kicker? I had a severe case of food poisoning and my mother was in the next room under Hospice care. They were quiet, fast and so kind to us.

I specifically requested Butcher AC for this job despite a warning from my contractor and recommendation of a different company. The job was completed with no major problems and the AC unit works fine. During construction they changed the plans without getting permission from the design team. Their change resulted in a cost savings for them. (Which they did not tell me about). When we discussed the change, i suggested that instead of paying me the difference (which would have made the most sense), that they offer a service plan with a value equal to the difference in cost of the project. They agreed this would be fine, but NEVER honored the service plan. They never changed a filter for a year which resulted in a collapse of ceiling tile filled with water - in my new office. (and on top of my assistant's head) At that time, they denied that there was a prior agreement in place (I had not proof other than my word and my office manager's word since I simply relied on their handshake and a promise rather than a written agreement). They have still refused to honor the original agreement but rather now offer a minimal discount on a service agreement moving forward. To anyone buying a new AC unit - make sure you have everything in writing. It is my experience that they CANNOT BE TRUSTED. It is my experience that they put their needs above the customer. It is my experience that although the AC unit functions well, I have spent well over 40 hours in efforts to correct a problem that should have been fixed. Customer service on a project even valued at $100,000 gets a grade of an F. I recommend to try another company to avoid a similar mishap.
