The consultation was really nice. They came out promptly and walked us through the process of measuring and laying out a new kitchen remodel. The consultant asked us a zillion questions about what we like and shared tons of options The design generated was professional and helpful. I think my wife was a bit overwhelmed and I probably didn't communicate the process well enough. She was looking forward to someone having a firm design concept to recommend rather than her designing the kitchen herself. Overall, very happy with the consultation and if you're looking to be very hands on in the design process this is for you.

John Aniol was great to work with, very reliable and knowledgeable which was very helpful. We had left our house for two weeks while he was remodelling, and we didn't have any problems at all. He kept the dust/dirt confined and so made our job of cleanup a lot easier. Would recommend to anyone.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. The 3D rendering was not done according to the instructions that I gave. Somebody had just thrown my measurements in a pre-existing template. Some of the measurements were off. It took two months to get it. I think they got too many customers from the Big Deal and couldn't deal with all of them. I was really disappointed with the company. Their drawing wasn't really helpful. I had another company do the same thing and it looks so much better. The guy was friendly and nice but I don't know if he was a designer or what. He obviously didn't transfer enough of my information to the designer doing the work. They may be really good about what they do and they may have been overwhelmed with this promotion.

They came out after I purchased the "Big Deal" and the service was okay but not the best. They came out and gave me a rendering but I made a lot of expectations and I thought their would be a second iteration and I didn't get anything. So, the service was fine but I did expect much that they would provided me.

I have seen multiple complaints about how these folks have handled their "Big Deal" so I know I'm not alone. I am hoping to get a refund on this and I'm upset that I've wasted my time. Bought the big deal on June 23rd. I heard nothing from them until I contacted them after a few weeks. I got a voice mail exactly one month to the date I purchased the deal, so I finally made contact and made an appoinment. Natalia the designer came to my house within the specified window and took measurements (this is why I gave them a B for puncuality). The process was friendly and relaxed but I had a hard time getting her to understand very simple and basic things...and had to repeat myself many times on many things. I had my doubts as to what the design would bring. She said she was leaving town for a week but would try her hardest to get me the 3D design the next day. At least a couple weeks go by and nothing comes. I contact the company and get owner John on the phone to lodge my complaint. He said that "she has messed up some other clients too, to be honest" and that he would contact her to straighten things out. Days after that, I get an email from the designer...barely apologetic and that she sent the design as promised. She also said to "double check my spam folder". I told her there is nothing, but she still asserts that she sent it and that it was "out of her control" and that she could sent the designs again or give a refund. John/Natalia can't even get their stories on the same page. The choice was easy. I wanedt the refund. This whole experience was a joke. What's funny: is that during the visit, we had a conversation about contractors who are flakey and how they can leave a bad impression when they mess up something simple in their first experience with a customer. Nuff said.
Description of Work: Finally took measurements of my bathroom and made weak excuses afterwards.

John assisted us with the redesign of our dated master bathroom. He and his team took the bathroom down to the studs, replaced the aging floor boards, and rebuilt a new bathroom that included a custom tiled shower, new vanity, medicine cabinet, exterior window, toilet, and door. John wasn't the most expensive quote we received, nor was he the cheapest, however we were sold on his team once we had a chance to see some of the work they had done rehabbing an old house. As is always the case with contractors, the job took longer than we were originally quoted (no knock against John, just the reality of home renovation). The craftsmen that John hired to do the tiling, painting, plumbing and electrical were absolutely great. It was their attention to detail that caused the job to run longer than quoted, so we were happy to trade time for quality. The only negative I have is that the carpenter that John hired to do the final installation was not as prompt, nor did he pay as much attention to detail as his counterparts. Having seen the other work that John's company does, I believe this to be out of the ordinary, and John is working with us to make sure we are happy (so I can't really complain too much).

to be honest, I'm sure he's a great remodeler and I'm sure he's honest and stands behind his work. The challenge I had with him is he spent well over an hour telling me how good he is at what he does, how customer centric he is and willing to do what the customer wants even if he disagrees with the choices or style chosen. I told him up front that I ordered this big deal solely to get exact measurements for my kitchen and master bathroom as I already had a contractor lined up. I also said up front that I was looking for ideas / layouts. What I got back a week after the visit was a very un-inspired, low quality resolution series of pics and measurements that were not easily read, and not sent as individual attachments that could easily print, save or enlarge. I would recommend you consider him as a contractor if you have $60-80K to invest in a new kitchen or $20-30K to redo your master bath but if you want someone to measure an area you want to someday remodel and you want ideas --- look elsewhere you will be disappointed.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It was fine. He measured everything very nicely. It's not what we thought it was gonna be so we weren't very thrilled but I don't think the fault was him. It was our misunderstanding of what he was going to do. We thought he was going to come out and give us some design help, like what things might look like and what materials he would suggest. He created a 3D rendering so if we wanted to proceed, we know exactly like how long the counter needs to be and how large the shower stall is. But we didn't really get any information or suggestions about what we should do or how it might look. We thought he might bring samples. It was just really measuring and creating a 3D rendering. He was very nice and friendly.

The service provided to me by Construction People Corp was fine. She sent me some very nice drawings. No measurements. I could have done with the measurements. It was a workable layout, anyway. I didn't get the design from her right away or anything. She had some studies to do. It was probably a week or so. I wasn't rushed, so that was okay. They measured some stuff and I can kind of imagine the measurements and dimensions from her drawings.

It was OK. They basically just did a normal quote. I think I kind of paid just to get a quote. They gave me a 3-D design. It was fine. He measured everything. It wasn't a very expensive design, but it's a fairly small kitchen.

My experience with Construction People Corporation was terrible. I was supposed to get nice, 3-D illustrations of how they would suggest I do the kitchen. Instead, I listened to a two hour pitch from the owner and I got some stock stuff that his daughter sent me off the internet, or they might have generated them in house. I was very unhappy. I paid $75.00 for this guy to come over here and pitch. I did not appreciate that. The guy came out and he just wasn't leaving. He kept telling what me what a great job he was going to do for me, what a great job he was going to do for me, when he came and remodeled. He was going to do this and he was going to do that. It just wasn't what I expected. I also expected to come away with something specific to my property and it was not. He showed up on time and I honestly believe he could do a good job for me, but he probably would have driven me nuts. The 3-D picture wasn't based on my kitchen at all. It wasn't based on my measurements. It was just a 3-D illustration that I could not relate to anything I have - my doorways, my windows, nothing. It did not relate.
Description of Work: I purchased an Angie's Big Deal to get and 3-D design of remodeling my kitchen. They came out soon after I purchased the Big Deal. There was no problem with promptness. There were no extra charges, I just paid the price of the Big Deal.

I purchased a Big Deal coupon for Construction People. It didn't really work out for us and we were kind of disappointed with them. We were hoping to get a drawing for a kitchen remodel. My husband took time off from work and we explained what we wanted and what we were interested in doing. The owner talked about a lot of other stuff but didn't really get down to finding out what we wanted or how we wanted our kitchen done or making any suggestions. It was hard to keep him on what we wanted. We are moving our kitchen into another room, opening up the house and remodeling some bathrooms. He doesn't even do the drawings; he has someone else do them for him. The drawing was not what we wanted, unfortunately. We expected one thing and it didn't work out for either one of us. I got almost the exact same drawing for free at one of the big box stores. He was pretty responsive and he set up an appointment right away when we called him. It took so long to get to the point of asking for the drawing for the kitchen.

Shortly after purchasing the special offer, I received a call from Construction People to schedule a visit. John was knowledgeable on bath design and provided the drawings very quickly. I missed the email with the drawings and sent an email asking what was up and got a phone call within hours. As I was talking with the designer, I found the original email, which was sent out a few hours after John visited. Construction People delivered what they promised, very quickly, and at a very reasonable price.

The demolition was a huge job, because of the cement underlayment, from original construction 35 years ago. They installed dust curtains that contained much of the dust. They completed the demolition much faster than expected. They built up the underlayment to ensure all thresholds matched, and laid down hardwood. Everything was beautiful, especially the trim details and stairs. The stain/varnish was outstanding. The slate and ceramic tile looks gorgeous. I real professional job.
Description of Work: John's team removed old flooring, including ceramic tile with cement underlayment, and old carpeting. Replaced with new slate and hardwood floors, including stairs. Also tore out old toilet and shower and installed new ceramic shower and new toilet.

This was an Angie's List Big Deal offer for $500 of kitchen remodel design work for $75. Unfortunately, I'm afraid that although the 3D design drawings themselves were very well done, the new kitchen layout they proposed didn't incorporate the primary changes I was looking to make to my kitchen and actually made worse use of the available space than the layout that is already there. Part of the problem is that I wasn't able to speak or work directly with the designer. Instead, their construction manager, John, came out for my "design meeting" so the person who actually drew up the design never spoke with me and probably had no idea what I was trying to accomplish. John arrived right on time and spoke very knowledgeably about potential material and construction issues that could impact a kitchen remodel but he took no notes on any of the things we discussed or my explanation of my goals for the remodel. Beyond taking the three basic measurements of the room, he took down no other design details. So, as you might expect given only the general room dimensions, the design drawings I got back were for a generic kitchen that wouldn't actually work in my home since it lacked any connection with the rest of the building's structures. It would have worked for an example kitchen layout in the middle of a large showroom floor at Ikea, but it wasn't going to work surrounded by the other rooms in my home. I am very glad I didn't pay $500 for the service, although, since I didn't get anything close to what I wanted, even $75 was too much to pay. I am now reading up on DIY kitchen design and will prepare my own drawings.
Description of Work: They prepared initial design drawings for a kitchen remodel. In total, five 3D renderings of the proposed kitchen layout where delivered.

They were a mediocre service. Tried to sell me the service, didn't really give me any good design. I had to follow up with the provider to get me the 3D rendering. Design ideas were not very well and they did not offer anything, basically just tried to sell me on the company. He did provide the 3D design but it was not anything special. No fresh ideas.

What stood out with this company was John, the owner, helped guide us in picking out products (flooring, counter tops, back splash, hardware) and referred us to companies for the cabinets, counter tops, and tile that offered quality products at a discounted price. He suggested different colors and products when I was at a loss of what to choose; however, if there was something that I didn’t like he has respectful and installed whatever we chose. Before The Construction People started this project I had multiple estimates from different contractors and none of the other contractors we any help in guiding us with these multiple choices. Throughout the project John, a perfectionist, pointed different things out to the carpenters and they were fixed immediately. When the project was completed John did a “walk through” and had the carpenters, electricians or painters correct anything we (or John) weren’t 100% happy with. We were thoroughly happy with the entire remodeling project; in fact, we are currently trying to budget for additional remodeling in our bathroom.
Description of Work: We had our entire kitchen gutted and remodeled. Structurally, we had a wall knocked down, the back door boarded up, new brick laid and a new step was constructed out of brick. We had a window replaced, new windowsills constructed, a bay window was replaced with an eight-foot patio door, a new front door and storm door installed, and new closet doors were hung. In addition, we had new electrical outlets added; and the heating ducts, cable, and telephone lines were all moved. The Construction People installed new cabinets, counter tops, back splash, new appliances, travertine flooring, constructed multiple new outlets to install new can lighting, and installed new fixtures. Painting and crown molding was also done in the living & dining room and our wood floors were sanded and re-stained. This was all done in five and a half weeks and the dust was kept to a minimal. Once the project was started; Monday thru Friday there was anywhere from one to three workers that worked at least eight hours. They were punctual and always started working promptly.

It took me a while to find the right contractor to work on my remodeling kitchen project and I'm glad that I found John. When I met him, I knew that he was the contractor that I could trust and rely on. John made the hands-on daily remodeling process not painful, He actually made the whole remodeling process very easy. He has so much knowledge and experience in the field. One thing I like about John is that he is a perfectionist and pays a lot of attention to detail and quality. Everything was done professionally and in high grade from start to finish. John met each challenge that came up in a professional and high quality way. He is very flexible in his contracting projects and I didn't have to worry about anything. He took all of my stress away and it was a Wonderful experience. I would recommend John if you have a big or small project and don't want to manage the details.

My husband saw work being done in another house with a sign up front with Johns number from Construction People. My husband walked in out of curiosity to see the quality of the work being done in the home because we wanted some work done. My husband loved the work so He called John from CPC and had him come over and do an estimate at our home. He was very friendly and trustworthy so we decided to go with him. We felt he was very honest and knew he was the right person to work with. He was very helpful cooperating with me and my husband with the ideas we had on the kitchen and everything else being done. His workers were beyond helpful and caring about how I wanted everything. They were very polite and kept everything very neat, and cleaned up after themselves. We were very satisfied with the work that was done, so five years later we called John to re roof out valley in our roof and an excellent job was done. He came over right away and also helped with other work done in two other buildings we own in Chicago.
Description of Work: They knocked down two half walls, ripped out the old kitchen, ripped out all wood flooring in the family room, extended family room, - demolition. Replaced the floor In the family room with hardwood floors, and replaced the floor in the kitchen with ceramic tile. Bathroom floors came out, put in new drywall in the wall, and took out old vanity and sink in there. The whole kitchen was remodeled and put in new vanity in bathroom.

We met John through one of our neighbors. He was very cordial and sat down with us to determine what we wanted to do. He came back with a quote and we asked if he could lower a bit and came back with a little lower. We signed up with him and he showed up with the crew the first day and was back a number of times while the job was going on. We made a number of visits to the cabinet place and got very nice people to work with. When we went to the granite place we were shown everything about what they could do. The were very clean while they were doing the job. If we had questions about something they were addressed promptly and as were undecided about what we wanted to do with the back splash we finally decided we wanted to go with granite. He told us that that was not in the quote and would be added expense, he talked with his granite guy and told us the price and said go ahead and are we glad we did. The finished project looks fabulous. We highly recommend this contractor as he is very professional, likeable person and treats you like a real friend.
Description of Work: The Kitchen and dining room were remodeled, the living room was painted and updated. The kitchen was taken down to the studs which also removed the soffits, existing electrical and plumbing. New electrical was installed to used for under the upper cabinet lighting, over the peninsula to lights were hung, new light over the sink and can lighting in the ceiling. The wall between the kitchen and dining room was removed which involved moving electrical, thermostat and heating vents. New drywall was installed and painted. Existing window was framed out to create ledge in front of the sink. Floor to match the existing floor was installed. Then the refrigerator was moved to other side of them room with floor to ceiling cabinets on both sides and over the top of the refrigerator. New cabinets were installed to have a peninsula and 42 in cabinets with trim extending them to the ceiling. The granite countertop was installed along with a granite back splash. Electrical was extended so the outlets looked flush with the granite. Trim was installed on all the doorways, baseboards and crown molding.

I recently purchased a condominium and there was an older previous owner living there. I was interested to replace the kitchen and and bathroom. I was referred to CPC by my father who used John to work on his home in the past. I have shopped around and when I meet John, I knew he was the guy to hire. Him and his crew are very professional. John has invested his time to ensure I was satisfied with the selection and service. While John was operating in my condo, I felt like he was a friend versus someone coming to pick up a pay check. I am very satisfied and will recommend John to anyone that is seeking professionalism at unbeatable prices. Thank you John and CPC for your awesome work!!
