A J Flooring

Description of Work: Removed and disposed of old hardwood flooring throughout our newly purchased but 40-year-old condo. Applied glued-down cork underlayment to meet condo association rules. Installed high-end flooring flooring throughout the condo in three stages. The kitchen floor was installed first so that cabinets could be installed over floor, after most of the major work was done on the rest of the condo the floor in the living room, family room, gallery, study and hallway as we originally planned. This was not an easy project as the kitchen has two doorways so to start at one side of the kitchen and come through the family room, gallery and hallway and meet on the other side of the kitchen with the flooring exactly matching (lining up perfectly parallel on both sides of the kitchen) displayed remarkable craftsmanship. Once we saw how beautiful the floor looked, we decided to have them install floor throughout the master bedroom including the large closet area as well. They also installed baseboard and shoe molding throughout the condo, including the bathrooms for consistency (about 300 linear feet). The overall cost was fairly high because we chose a high-end product, almost three-fourths was the cost of the floor itself--i.e., this did not include the cost of the cork, the baseboards, the shoe molding,the disposal, the glue or other materials nor of course labor and delivery.

Description of Work: A.J. Flooring completed 2 jobs for us. The first job was $8,000 and involved installing new hardwood floors on two levels of our house as part of a new addition. This was a difficult job since they had to match the existing hardwood floors on the 2nd floor and patch them together in the hallway in a natural red oak finish. They used a polyurethane finish to match existing. The first floor had new 3" floors added in a dark walnut stain. They used a water based sealer on this level and it turned out beautifully. The $800 job was an add on. We decided to have the remaining original oak in the front part of our house sanded and stained to match the new addition. They also replaced a section of the floor which had been repaired badly in the past. Again, it looks original and matches perfectly.
