"I got in contact with Electric Doctor through Home Advisor. The only issue I wanted them to address was that my lights "pulsed" or flickered. They were prompt in addressing my inquiry and had a tech out to diagnose. I scheduled the work to be done on March 21. FYI: Cost to come out for an estimate is $49. I knew that going in. I opted to have some additional work done; have my furnace put on it's own circuit, have an outlet created for my refrigerator and have the main wires that come in from the meter to the breaker replaced. At the time, they recommended a grounding system be installed, but I said I did not want that done (it was $550). The day the work was done, the electrician (Rod) called me and said they *had* to install the grounding system, as the inspector from the City of Bettendorf said it was necessary. He did give me a discount of $100, making the total for the whole house grounding system $450. My total bill was $1575 after all was said and done. I was floored. I was also overcharged by $181. I called that same day and the $181 refund is pending (it cleared). I have no idea where that extra amount came from. There was debris left behind; wood shavings in several places, three unused circuits left inside the breaker box along with plastic pieces, some small pieces of copper wire on the floor and one piece of insulation that was not put back. I had about 1 hour of cleanup after the electrician left my home. The original issue I called about? Still happening. Several of my light fixtures are still pulsing. I attempted to correspond with the owner, Jeff Lanum, about the following issues/questions via email: 1) My issue is not resolved. I still have lights that pulse/flicker. What are my options? 2) Can you supply documentation that shows that I HAD to have the grounding system installed? (edit: I did end up calling the city about this and the city electrical inspector did indeed say this was LAW that this had to be put in. Kinda surprised the Electric Doctor didn't know that. I would have never agreed to any of the work done knowing I HAD to have a $500 system installed - it wasn't in the budget) 3) I have a giant copper wire that runs from my heater to ??? What is this? 4) A mess was left behind. There were wood shavings in several places; top of plastic yarn bins, in some of the yarn, on top of the water heater, behind the plastic bins, near the breaker panel. There were also three disconnected circuits left in the breaker panel along with a lot of debris. 5) What circuit was the HVAC system put on? I got one response from Jeff, and then he stopped writing me back. I never did get him to come back out to answer my questions nor tell me when it would be a good time to call. I don't have the time to chase someone down, but I can say with certainty that I will NOT recommend the Electric Doctor to anyone who needs work done."

We are a general contractor that serves Iowa and Illinois. If you can think it, we will figure out a way to create it for you at an honest price and great customer service. We have several financing options available for almost every type of credit risk. We offer several promotions throughout the year for both product and financing.
"Failed to show up on agreed upon work date due to overbooking. Bid vinyl for an aluminum replacement, then was unresponsive about bidding aluminum. When we decided to go elsewhere, six months later they sent us an invoice for an additional, arbitrary $3k for work not performed. We disputed the invoice and never heard back until we got another invoice another seven months later seeking double the original amount including monthly interest and an ‘overhead & profit’ fee."

Installing a whole-house generator costs about $5,000 on average. Prices range from $1,550 to $8,500, depending on size, brand, fuel type, and assembly. The size of your whole-house generator is the most significant cost factor, with large homes with high energy demands costing the most to power. Types of whole-home generators include:
Portable generators with 1kW–7.5kW capacity: $500–$2,000
Partial generators with 9kW–20kW capacity: $2,000–$6,300
Whole-house generators with 22kW–48kW: $5,000–$18,000
When maintained properly, a whole-house generator can last up to 20 years. Costs to maintain and repair generators vary by location and type of generator, but you can expect to pay about $150 to $300 per year for annual generator maintenance checks. An experienced generator service technician will inspect your generator’s engine filter, starting mechanism, fuel, lubrication, and coolant levels to keep your generator in good working condition for as long as possible.
When choosing the right size generator for your needs, consider a few items to help calculate the wattage you’ll need. Start by determining which household items and appliances you want to power, and then add the wattages together. Check out the wattage of these essential appliances:
Refrigerator: 600 watts
Large dehumidifier: 700 watts
Large window air conditioner: 1,400 watts
Water heater: 3,000 watts
Running home appliances like these requires a partial or whole-house generator. A portable generator may be enough to power your home if you only plan to keep a refrigerator and freezer running.
Here’s what you can run with different wattages and types of generators:
Portable generator:
2,000 watts can handle a large appliance like a freezer or refrigerator, plus a few smaller items like phones or computer chargers.
4,000 watts will keep two large appliances operating and a few smaller devices.
8,000 watts should power most essential appliances and other devices, including a sump pump, well pump, or your dishwasher.
Partial to whole-house generator:
20,000 watts and above will make it seem like your home’s power is still on.
The value of installing a whole-house generator is that your home has guaranteed power, even if the power grid in your area is down. Whether a whole-house generator is worth installing in your home depends on how often you use it, your home’s location, and your lifestyle. For example, installing a whole-house generator is likely worth it if you:
Experience frequent or prolonged power outages
Work from home
Store a lot of cold food
Have a sump pump
Have a pump for well water
Use electronic medical devices
Live in a climate requiring heating or cooling
