My water heater flooded my house and Stavontae came out to replace it. He was extremely polite and professional. He gave me 3 options to choose from to fit my budget. He cleaned up the mess and even alerted me to an uncapped gas line in my house that was potentially dangerous and I had no idea was even there and active!

Same worker had performed exactly the same service just three months ago for an identical sink in a separate bathroom and we were charged $150 at that time. Attempted to charge us significantly more this time ($70+) for the same work. My wife had to pull out the prior invoice to show what was charged the prior time to get the bill reduced to be the same as for the prior work. She was quite unhappy with this attempted upcharge. Workmanship was fine.

I called the provider on Labor day because the drain to my kitchen sink and washing machine was broken and backing up. The work was horrible. I called the dispatch at 10:20, and she told me the tech would arrive in an hour. An hour later, she called and said their was a mix up and that the tech would be there in another hour. When the tech (Drew) arrived, he insisted first on and quot;Diagnosingand quot; the problem, which I already told him what it was. To and quot;Diagnoseand quot; the problem he had to take the hot water heater apart (Not sure why, it worked absolutely fine). He said it was their standard procedure. Upon taking it apart he had to remove the pressure relief valve for some reason as well. When putting the hot water heater back together, the pressure relief valve wouldn't close, which he indicated was caused by its advanced age and insisted that if the water heater had been properly maintained that wouldn't happen. The hot water heater was working fine before he took it apart. Finally after hitting the valve a couple of times and removing some of the water and playing with it, he got it to close. After that incident he worked on the actual reason for his visit which was the clogged sink. At which time he swore up and down that his snake would only be successful if he cleaned it with a water jet which was going to cost more money. I politely declined at which point he said his snake wasn't getting the clog and the only way it would, would be to spend the additional money. After I told him no several more times, I went upstairs to the kitchen drain and the drain was miraculously unclogged, with no water jet. I sent him away thinking that the problem was resolved. Somewhat dissatisfied at the fact that I wasn't convinced that the problem was solved. Either way, the drain was fixed. Only one problem...The water heater was broken, and with no hot water. It turns out the technician turned the thermostat all the way to its lowest setting and then forgot to reset it before leaving. So I adjusted it up to a higher setting and it was a no go. The thermostat is broken somehow, or at best not functioning. I will be calling another service provider to come fix the water heater and review their work as I am completely dissatisfied and feel ripped off at best.
Description of Work: The provider "Checked" the whole house for issues and snaked a drain that was clogged.

If I could give these people less than an F I would. I believe this is a case of taking advantage of the elderly. My mother is 93 and for parts that cost only $40 and less than an hour of time, they charged her $389, it would have been $50 more but she had a coupon. These people are either outrageously over-priced or downright taking advantage of the elderly He also wanted to replace the entire innards of the toilet and replace the main house valve, that would have been almost $1000, fortunately my mother declined. This company is the worst I have ever dealt with.

Our water heater pilot light went out on a weekend night. Since we weren't certain whether gas continues to flow without the pilot light, we were very concerned and called a 24-hour plumber. The Benjamin Franklin plumber arrived fairly quickly. He pressed a button on the water heater three times and could not restart it. The rest of his hour-long visit was spent criticizing our current water heater, explaining its deficiencies and preparing a bid for repair and replacement. The repair price was $900. A new water heater would cost us $2,000, $3,200 or $6,000 and we had to decide what to do RIGHT THEN. Our regular plumber came out during normal business hours and fixed it in approximately 15 minutes. He examined the water heater and said it's just fine. (He did not install it.) Benjamin Franklin Plumbing was an extremely high-pressure, high-price sales pitch. If you want a salesperson, call Benjamin Franklin. If you want a good plumber, look elsewhere.

Benjamin Franklin plumbing, 3rd strike, you're out. They charged $250.00 to install a $250.00 faucet. The man that came out, did not seem to know how to install faucets-he read the instructions and left some parts in the box which concerned me. A couple of months later, after calling them, they came out again to and quot;tightenand quot; the screws on the faucet. This guy indicated that the faucet is a good faucet, but Benjamin Franklin Plumbing was not responsible for their installation, so we would have to pay for another faucet and another installation. He was quite sure it must have not being the installation, though I am completely not sure at all. Like I said, the person that did the installation appeared inexperienced at best. So now we have to go back to faucets.com, and see where the warranty covers the faucet and if so, get another company to install it. The person that came out the second threatened that they could charge me a $50.00 fee just to come out and tighten screws. He said he would give me a break and not charge me this time. He also said that they only warrant installation/faucets it you buy direct from them their version which costs upwards of $600.00.

Franklin initially repaired a non-functioning toilet, but the repair didn't last. Two months later I had a non-functioning toilet again. The tech indicated at that time that the toilet needed to be replaced and quoted me a price of $450 to complete the replacement. I declined and found a more reputable plumber to complete the work. I won't hire these guys again. Poor workmanship and ridiculously overpriced repairs. Beware.....

We have had him before. They were very prompt. We had a sewer backup the morning after Christmas but hey responded fairly quickly. They identified what the problem was and came back 2 days later to the correction. They corrected it to the extent it was useable but there was more to be done so they came back and finished that up. They were very efficient and very pleasant to deal with.

It did not go! They did not arrive to provide the service. They had no record of me in their system when I called to inquire about what happened. I found this highly unprofessional and unacceptable. They did nothing to make this situation right other than offering to make another appointment later in the day. They already occupied half of my day with the original appointment and wanted me to further occupy my day by waiting additional hours to have them come out with no offer of discount or responsibility for their error. Apparently they need a new a more reliable scheduler or scheduling system as I received a call from them the day before confirming the appointment stating that they would call within a half hour of their arrival time. Very poor customer service here. There prices were higher also than others. NOT sure how they have an A rating.
Description of Work: I scheduled with this provider for an 8:00-11:00am window of time. I was told they would call within 30 minutes of arrival. I had not heard from them by 11:15 am. When I called to inquire, I was told that I was not even on their schedule or in their system.

The date was February 4, 2013. The technician was plainly a jerk to me on the telephone and to my tenants in my rental. He explained that houses like mine had this problem where the main separates from the house drain and roots grow in. He recommended a very expensive permanent solution that didn't sound right. Instead we opted for him to clear the pipe and apply RootX. (I had a similar service done in 2004 for about a third of the price.) After leaving, I researched his proposed fix with plumbers I trusted. They all unanimously said it was the absolute wrong way to fix the problem. Fast forward to September 19, 2013. The main backed up again. This time we contacted Angie's top rated plumber. They came and were very nice and knowledgeable. They allowed my tenant to see with a camera what the problem was. They found that the roots had not been cleared by Benjamin Franklin Plumbing. They recommended a different permanent solution which was in line with my plumbing consultants. They also created a comparison of getting the permanent solution versus just maintaining the current scenario with biannual clearings and showed us it was cheaper and better to do the latter in the long run. In summary, Benjamin Franklin Plumbing showed up, didn't do the work they said they did, tried to hard sell an incorrect solution, charge three times what the best rated Angie's plumber charged, and was rude / jerky. The only positive is that they came out when they said they would. I would NOT recommend them ever to anyone. They are the absolute worst.

WAY TO EXPENSIVE! MY MISSTAKE I SHOULD OF GOT SEVERAL ESTIMATES. THEY HAD TO COME BACK THREE TIMES TO FIX THE SHOWER FAUCET AND THE CHALKING AROUND THE TOILET IS SHRINKING SO MUCH YOU CAN HARDLY SEE IT. THEY CALL AND CALL AND CALL AND EVEN AFTER YOU TELL THEM NEVER TO CALL AGAIN THEY CONTINUE TO CALL. I WOULD NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM AGAIN.

They are very punctual, professional. However, their prices are way to high. We had them install a $250.00 faucet in the kitchen, which involved removing the old faucet as well. The repair guy, took out his book, and quoted me from their list of installation fees, $250.00 to install the faucet. I mentioned that this was extremely high, and he said that they have fixed prices for everything, and indeed showed me in their book the fixed price for installing a kitchen faucet. It took him less than an hour, and he had to read the manual, and I was thinking, why didn't I just do it myself. It still bothers me that I spent this much money on installing a faucet.

The price seemed very high. They also sold us a package to check furnace and AC sometime in the future for a couple hundred dollars. When your water heater is broke and leaking you really don't have the time to do research and company comparisons. They told us our water pressure was too high, but we confirmed with the water company that it's not too high and is just fine. Makes us suspicious about having them come back out to check furnace and AC. It's just hard to trust any company in this line of work. We've been misled and over-charged in the past from another company. I would say that honesty is not this company's strong point.

The plumber took care of the problem which was a backed up sewer and re-seated the toilet. He said I'd need part of the sewer line replaced or the problem would keep happening. Another person from the same company gave me an outrageous estimate to do the replacement. Had a different plumber come out to do an estimate and he confirmed that the sewer was the problem. Both of them used a camera on a flexible cable in the drain pipe to show me where the problems were. The second guy's quote was $4450 less! and he explained what needed doing and how it would be done as well as when. I also learned that some service companies, like plumbers, electricians and such go around with price books so they can tell you exactly how much the job will be. What they don't tell you is that these poor guys get paid on commission and that's why the prices seem high. They are! But they sometimes have you over a barrel if you need emergency work! I will not hire Benjamin Franklin again.

Our hot water heater was leaking on a week end and they were the only company that responded to our call. They came out quickly and stopped the water leak and came back on Monday to replace the heater. We had a problem later with the drain leaking and they came right back out and took care of the problem. The price was very high. There marketing plan calls for numerous upsells and extended warranties which really drive up the price. Kind of a hard sell type of deal. My wife dealt with them and bought it all, because she was lead to believe it was the only way to get it done right. Of course, based on the responses we got from other companies, our heater might still be leaking if it was not for Benjamin Franklin.

I wanted to replace a couple bath sink faucets and needed to replace my existing 15-year-old hot water heater before it failed. I also had a leak in my outdoor spigot. Matt did such a good job that I called back to get another appointment to replace the drain lines from my utility room and kitchen, replace my washing machine hookups from a bath-shower setup to a safe one, and a new garbage disposal. (I had been neglecting these plumbing fixes for a long time!). Andy also did an excellent job.

In each case, only one plumber responded. In our last house were used to having two plumbers come for repairs, which was often unnecessary. In the course of the faucet repair, it was discovered that our pressure regulator and expansion tank were bad, so the plumber replaced both. B. Franklin carries a good stock of materials with them on their repair trucks, so there was no need for the plumber to leave for parts and come back. The job was done efficiently. The water heater job was more of an emergency, and the response time was good. This plumber also had the materials on board to do the job without having to leave to find parts. In addition to the tank installation, he ran some required tests before leaving. We have no complaints about either job. The prices seemed a little high, but that seems to be the case anytime we call a plumber. I should add that both plumbers were careful to avoid making a mess while working our our house. They were careful in their work, and wore "booties" over their shoes to protect floors. I would recomment this company for any typical household plumbing work.
Description of Work: We used Benjamin Franklin for two jobs. One was a faucet repair (which led to other repair needs) and the other was a water heater replacement. The water heater was a stand-alone job, and consisted of the replacement of our old heater. The faucet repair led to the discovery of a bad expansion tank and pressure regulator in our system, both of which were replaced.

I promptly looked up a plumber on Angies List. They arrived quickly and gave me many options and good leads into subsequent providers (lots of specialists are required for plumbing nightmares). Our subsequent providers were Suc N Up (to drain septic) and Gerald Gardner (septic field digging) both were excellent. After this necessary analysis Benajamin Franklin returned and was able to blow out the immediate blockage between the house and the septic tank. Their attention to detail, future providers and cost were very helpful. I always felt like I had a choice and was making good decisions with their support. With this said, my only disappointment was Benjamin Franklin's lead to All Phase Restoration. Benjamin Franklin gave me a $250 coupon for their services. All Phase Restoration employees were nice and open communicaters on what they'd do and how they'd work with my insurance company, but I *wouldn't* recommend them or work with them again. Their end price was high ($1500) for what seemed like a couple hours of work. I didn't know what I was agreeing to as I thought it was the $250 inspecition that I had a coupon for. They cut out 1/2 of the carpeting (which was okay) and left their HEPA fans to dry and filter the area. I still have them in my family room - they never returned to pick them up and it's been 8 weeks. I may try to sell them to pay for their high fees! I think they're used to insurance company payments, not home owner payments which means they over charge. In our case I'd placed a high deductible on our home owners insurance so it's all out-of-pocket. I liked Benjamin Franklin and would recommend them - rest assurred -- but I would encourage them not to hand out the All Phase Restoration coupons. It doesn't work well for the home owner and could reflect negatively on them.
Description of Work: We live in the county and are on a septic system. I first noticed the carpet being wet outside our laundry room on Friday, November 2. Being a bit stubborn, I ran the washing machine anyway believing it to be unrelated. Wrong. This caused a total washing machine load of water to backfill into the house and push sewage up the adjoining toilet into our family room.
