Emily Benda Gaylord

Contributing Writer

Emily is a freelance writer who covers real estate, home improvement, and interior design. She also partners with real estate professionals to help them grow their business and reach more homeowners.

Emily’s passion for real estate and home improvement began at a young age surrounded by her family’s real estate business. She also developed a love for interior design by decorating her first college apartment and completing an apprenticeship with Traditional Home Magazine (now part of Better Homes & Gardens), where she styled photo shoots and interviewed designers across the country.

Now as a writer, Emily uses her background and knowledge to help others understand the complexities of real estate and the potential of interior design. She’s covered multifamily market trends for publications like The Crittenden Report and investigated city development for Ann Arbor Concentrate. Emily has also contributed to Bob Vila, The Spruce, and BiggerPockets.

In her free time, Emily can be found reading a good book on her patio, researching her next home project, or hunting on Facebook Marketplace for a new addition to her home.
