Acclaim Services was founded in 1999 by Mark & Teresa Harris, after many years of working for others in the industry. Teresa worked with a local gardening company for several years, maintaining gardens in Farmington, Keswick and Albemarle county. Mark began doing lawn care in his teens, worked with mixing & applying fertilizers and nutrients at a farm store, spent several years as the sells & service manager for a Lawn Doctor of Chesterfield and worked for Lawn Doctor of Charlottesville. Mark & Teresa have taken classes through The Virginia Tech. Extension Service and local nurseries. Mark has taken classes and been certified through Virginia Tech and their Master Gardener programs, Virginia Turfgrass Council, Lawn Doctor University, Toro University, Rainbird Irrigation, Techo Block wall systems, Belgard Stone, Easyturf artificial turf and Cast low voltage lighting. We have been designing, installing and maintaining landscapes, lawns, Hardscapes, landscape lighting, water features and irrigation systems since 1999. We have been the landscape contractor for The Colonnades Senior Living Community, in Charlottesville, since 1999. Call us today for a free estimate.

"After another patch of poor weather and another visit by Miss Utility, the project got started in late October with Mark supervising all the work. After locating the irrigation lines, the excavator got started right away. This person was a highly qualified professional and his work with the machinery was outstanding. About halfway down the driveway they identified the power and cable lines and expertly navigated around them. The two other crew members worked along the excavator pulling up rocks, cutting roots, and removing other debris. The excavating was done in the morning and in the afternoon the crew lined the ditch with fabric. Next, they began to carefully place the larger rocks into the ditch on top of the fabric. Each large rock was meticulously placed by hand in the ditch, very similar to putting a jigsaw puzzle together. This took a couple of days to complete. Once this was done another layer of smaller stones were distributed between the spaces between the large rocks. When this was done, the area was completely cleaned up. A pile of large rocks were left for us to use around the rest of the yard. It was an amazing job and we are very pleased by how attractive it is. All the employees were courteous and hard working. It was a very professionally done job by everyone involved and they answered all our questions along the way. We had requested quotes from two other local companies that we never heard from again after leaving numerous messages with their answering services. We were very impressed with the prompt and courteous approach from Mark and his company down to his work crews. We would highly recommend Acclaim Services for your landscaping needs."

Fountain services FAQs

Installing an outdoor water fountain costs $2,700 on average, not including the cost of the unit. Prices range from $150 to $10,650, depending on your location, the type of fountain, size, and accessibility to the site. Self-contained fountains and water features recirculate the water within the unit. Depending on size and features like multi-tiered cascading bowls, they typically cost from $50 to $5,000. More elaborate fountains with waterfalls and ponds can cost from $450 to $10,000 or more.

Every one to three months, you should perform regular fountain maintenance, including draining, cleaning, and rinsing the components of your fountain basin and the pump and tubing to prevent algae and other buildup. Fountain maintenance also includes keeping the appropriate water level and removing debris like leaves, insects, and twigs from the water to avoid clogging the pump. You can also hire a professional landscaper to clean your fountain for around $50 to $150 per month on average.

Most water features do not use a lot of electricity, averaging between 100 and 250 watts per day. The size of the motor can impact electricity usage. To reduce electricity usage, consider using a timer to turn the fountain off at night and when you’re away from your home. Solar power is another way to defray electricity costs after you recoup the cost of installing the solar components.

You can choose several types of fountains to add to your backyard, ranging in size, number of basins, and special water features.

Check out the price ranges of common fountain types:

  • Birdbath fountains: $40 to $1,100

  • Cascading fountains: $40 to $2,000

  • Tiered fountains: $100 to $6,000

  • Kugel fountains: $150 to $5,000

  • Glass wall fountains: $100 to $3,000

Consider the pros and cons of installing a water fountain in your backyard:

Pros

  • Fountains can add beauty to your backyard.

  • Creates a relaxing space to enjoy in your yard.

  • Water features can add more value to your home.

Cons

  • Regular maintenance is necessary.

  • Upfront and maintenance costs can escalate quickly.

  • Space may not permit you to install the fountain you want.
