There are usually two workers that come out. They keep everything clean. They get the job done in a timely manner and they communicate well.

Luckily we have two Mitsubishi Mr. Slim units in an addition on our house and we were able to stay comfortable by staying in the addition at night. Otherwise the experience might have been worse. My only complaint is that the first technician should have had the part with him after I had informed Mannix what the thermostat controller wes indicating.
Description of Work: Mannix installed and performs semi-annual maintenance on my home HVAC system. We have had one major problem since the system was installed when, in the middle of the summer, the blower failed. The first mechanic who responded verified what the thermostat controller had indicated, that the blower had failed, but he did not have a replacement. One was provided and installed within 24 hours, at no cost to us because luckily we stll had a warrsnty.

I am impressed with the Mannix employees who are courteous and professional and always on time. When they have seen possible trouble spots in the two units I have in the house, they make recommendations but in no way are trying to upsell any product or labor.
Description of Work: Regular furnace maintenance and occasional extra work as problems were revealed. I've used Mannix for 4or 5 years, after having dealt with trial and error with other companies. I have an annual contract with them for servicing two units twice per year in the spring and in the fall. Their prices are very reasonable compared to other companies.

Mannix installed our AC/furnace about five years ago. Every time I have the system serviced a major problem is discovered that makes me wonder why mannix is still in business. First I found out they didn't get the gas lines inspected. First inspection failed. Second one wasn't ever scheduled. Mannix had a million excuses for this. Mainly they blamed me. My fault they put my family in danger. Second, the overhead pipes weren't taped into placed, and then they fell down. Huh. Original ducts were there for 40 years. Mannix said not my fault. Then the drain from the AC was discovered to be loose, a trained installer actually glues it in place before you get two feet of water in basement. Mannix said not my fault. My insurance company collected 80,000 from someone. Then my new service company looked at the humidifier and saw that it wasn't wired correctly. It was wired backwards. It hadn't worked for over five years, and was actually just leaking backing into the system. Totally wrong. Whoever installed it was a untrained , and cetainly not quailed AC installer. Guess what Jerry Mannix said: not my fault. I get to have a new system installed. Not calling mannix.

Response from Mannix Heating & Cooling
We converted this member's home from oil heat to natural gas heat in June of 2012. This job required installing gas pipe and replacing the furnace and A/C unit. When installing new gas piping to a home, two gas pipe inspections are required; the first is a pressure test, second is the final after the equipment is installed. A WSSC permit was pulled and a first gas inspection was received. The first inspection failed due to improper grounding (Bonding) of the gas line. Alterations in the bonding of the pipe were made per the inspectors request and a subsequent first gas inspection passed. Washington Gas will not set a gas meter unless they verify the inspection result, which they did. We let the customer call in the final inspection, as it is not feasible for us to pay a technician to wait all day for the WSSC inspector. We ask homeowners schedule the final inspection on a day where they are going to be home. The final inspection on this house was not completed within the 12 month time frame. When notified by this member that the final inspection wasn't completed, we purchased (three years later) a new permit and the final inspection passed on the first inspection. I don't understand how we put this member in any danger as he stated in his review, as we didn't alter anything from the installation to the final inspection. I was asked to inspect this member's system as he said it was producing dirt in his basement. I visited the home in March of 2016 and found that all the drywall and drop ceiling of the basement had been removed due to a foundation leak that caused water infiltration. I noticed that the dirt was coming from outside of the existing duct work, as it looked as if the duct work had gotten muddy when it was installed during the home's initial construction. This was not duct work that was installed by us, so I did refuse to clean it. The member did not purchase a humidifier from us; however, we did reinstall the existing humidifier on his new system. We serviced his existing humidifier for many years after the installation and verified that it was working properly. This was a Carrier Infinity system where the furnace controls the humidifier (different than a normal system), so it is wired differently. I question the diagnosis of the "new service company" as I do not know if they are a factory authorized Carrier dealer who is properly trained in the Infinity system and how accessories are wired to it. I have no record of being contacted about this issue, as he stated in his review, that he did contact me and received a response from me. I am also not aware of a drain pipe not being glued as I could not find any record of that in our service history with this member. I am sorry this member is not happy with our services. My team strives for outstanding customer service with every customer. When an issue is brought to our attention, we immediately address it and are disappointed when we cannot live up to our customer's satisfaction. We serviced this customer for over four years, and we are sorry to see him leave us. Sincerely, Jerry Mannix

The Mannix crew showed up on time and the first thing they did was to lay down drop cloths from our door all the way into the work area to protect our floors. They replaced the pad for the AC and even brought rocks to place under and level the pad. Every aspect of the removal of the old system and installation of the new system was meticulous. They took the time to make sure everything was done properly and thoroughly tested the New system to make sure everything was working properly. They showed us how to use the new thermostat. At the end of the job, they presented us with a folder containing all of the documents for the new system. We are very pleased with the quality work, professionalism and friendliness of the entire Mannix team.

Everything seemed good and we were using them, but now, they are my company. I have somebody checkup when we turn on the heat and when we turn on the cooling. I decided to try them because Angie’s List had them on there as being a good service provider. That is how it started. I got them from Angie’s List, continued to use them, and have been happy.

I have been extremely happy with them. They came immediately on a weekend. It was a terrific service. I called them and I was not even thinking that I would get any service. They came within three hours of when I had called. I was just super happy. I love them. They were excellent, top-notch. I think the price was fair to have immediate service in the middle of a heat wave. They told me they would be there within the day and they were there within three hours. I am having them actually come this week to do heating checkup because they were so good. I am going to use them regularly for service checkup to make sure everything is running well. They seem very knowledgeable and fair priced. I trust them. They could have told me anything at that point with my air not working and being 90 degrees and I do not know anything about the cooling system. They came up with something that was quick to repair and the price was fair. The workers were very pleasant.
Description of Work: We use Mannix Heating & Cooling. They have taken care of emergencies. I have them do my routine checkups now. We had them come out the last time because our air conditioning went out.

The big HVAC contractors all put me off until fall so they could wring out every dollar of its desperate customers needing emergency services. Patrick from Mannix brought his crew out to give me an estimate on the electrical upgrade, the labor and the new hardware. He explained everything thoroughly and laid out all of my options. In two days I was up and running. I now have an electronic thermostat I can control on my phone. The only hiccup was that, while Mannix will cut, patch and spackle any drywall holes they make during AC/vent installation, they do not sand or paint. Without asking, the techs put a huge vent on the ceiling right above the entrance to the master bedroom. It looked terrible and we said so. Patrick had it moved without question to someplace more inconspicuous. They even sanded the patch but made a mess with the dust. Fortunately, it was nothing that couldn't be vacuumed. I still have Patrick's number on my cell phone and pinged him recently with a question. He always responds and stands by his work.

The technician answered my many questions and took his time to do the job right. He only charged us the usual service/trip charge minus the coupon I had which we thought was very reasonable. I've had Mannix out multiple times in the last 7 years, to include replacing our 30 yr old furnace, and we've been extremely pleased every time. I can't say enough nice about the company.
Description of Work: Our A/C was serviced. The line that carries away condensation was blocked and water had leaked behind the furnace in the basement and was coming thru under the wall to the adjacent bathroom. The Mannix technician not only unblocked the line, which had to be cut and reattached, but he also fixed another place in the line where the water was leaking because it wasn't properly sealed.

Amazing quality and service! I found Mannix through Angie's list after we were scammed by a very shady Hvac company (SERVICE DOCTORS) that incorrectly installed our hvac system and left us without ac and gas for nearly a week. We dropped the other company and had them remove their ac/ heat pump and had Mannix install. Hal the sales rep was extremely patient and professional given our situation and explained the whole process in great detail. The installers (Jeremy & Melvin) were top notch and completed the installation flawlessly. After experiencing the botched job from the other company we now understand and appreciate the importance of quality products, workmanship, and customer service. After our experience we have decided that as long as we live in our home, Mannix is the only company that will work on our hvac! Highly recommend.

Mannix is fantastic. I called for a new HVAC system, and despite it being 102 degrees outside, they had someone at my door in a matter of hours for an estimate. I had planned to get three quotes for the work, but I knew I couldn't do better, so I signed up on the spot. They didn't try to push me into higher priced systems - I just needed replacement of essentially what the house came with in 1988. The installation team came the next day - two technicians - and did an excellent job. They were polite, clean, organized and explained what I needed to do to take care of basic maintenance on my HVAC system and Water Heater. It's been a week and my new Carrier system is working perfectly - thanks Mannix!

Bruce said he'd be at the house at 10 am on Sat to measure and they'd be there by 10 am to replace the unit. He showed up on Sat 10 mins early and his crew showed up on Monday a 1/2 hour early (which was great so I could leave for work). The crew was very professional and the work was done exactly as promised. I have since given their name to 2 people. I would highly recommend.
Description of Work: Air conditioning system needed to be replaced. I talked with Bruce on Friday at 4:15 on a 95 degree day. I had had someone else out who gave me an estimate. Bruce met their price with a better unit (Carrier vs. Trane).

The heat pump system in my house was out of order and need be replaced. I got several estimates from different contractor. The one from Mannix H&C was not the cheapest, but reasonable with detailed explanation. Also I had good experience with them in past year so I hired them. They came to my house on time and finished the job within the time they promised. Original plan is to tear-off dry-wall in my basement to replace ref. tubing but they found another way to install a new line without tearing-off the wall. They cleaned the working area before they left and the new unit works well.

I must have had an out-of-the ordinary experience with this company – I see a lot of positive reviews on Angie’s List. I bought a home with a 21 year-old furnace and air conditioner, and this year, the electricity costs were about 40% above last summer. I bought the house expecting to replace the whole works. I called 2 other contractors, and got prices over about $1,500 apart. Since the lower of the 2 was dealing in Carrier, I went back to AL and looked for someone highly recommended and another factory-authorized Carrier dealer. I called Mannix, and a salesman agreed to show up on the Saturday before Labor Day (I was pleasantly surprised by this). Bruce called to confirm the appointment the night before, and showed up on time. That’s where the positive part of this experience ends. To say that Bruce came on strong would be an understatement. He went through and looked at the equipment, told me how much he knew, what I needed, and said that he wouldn’t move the wall register/boot in a bedroom. When I told him that I had gotten quotes for a couple other contractors, the first thing he did was blast all other makers of heating and air conditioning equipment (this cracked me up, knowing that Bryant is owned by United and offers a pretty much identical system as the one for which I was looking). Next, Bruce goes off about every other contractor - they can’t speak English, they aren’t factory authorized (I mentioned the other two were, and he then said that wasn’t everything), to look at reviews on Angie’s List (I mentioned that both of the other contractors I was considering were rated as highly as Mannix on AL, and he then said 70% of all ratings were A), and that companies weren’t licensed or permitting their work. So I probably should have just showed Bruce the door, but for kicks and giggles, I asked about pricing. Wow – try a list price for an identical system (without moving the register and boot) of $2,600 more. He actually had a better system (higher SEER air conditioner) packaged with the same furnace for less than his list price for the system I was looking for. And there was a discount for cash terms, and he mentioned that they could look for scratch and dent models. We probably could have gotten close on price, but I wasn’t looking to do business with this company at this point. Jerry Mannix did call the following week, and from his message, I think he knew I wasn’t pleased. It turned out to be a terrible time for me to return his call during working hours for the next couple of weeks, so I’m sorry that I didn’t pay him that courtesy. I’m still shaking my head at Bruce’s approach, however. And for moving the register – for all of his blustering about modifying the design of the ductwork causing deleterious effects on airflow, that didn’t turn out to hold water either. I got the installer to do a velometer reading before and after, and got a 14% increase after moving the boot. That could also be due to the new system, which has a variable speed fan, but the end result is that the register is a joist space closer to the exterior wall, which is supposed to be preferable anyway. I understand that theirs is a competitive business, but I’m not looking for a company that tries to build itself up by tearing everybody else down.
Description of Work: Gave estimate for replacement of air conditioner, furnace, humidifier, and the relocation of a register within a bedroom.

. We have a service contract w/ Mannix and their sales person Patrick came out to take a look at our system when we found out we were leaking Freon. Patrick did a great job of looking at what we had and explaining all of the option and SERE ratings. We decided to get a single stage 16 SERE Carrier system. On installation day the crew showed up on time and took their time to lay drop cloths all over the hallways and steps in my home to help keep things clean. Such a professional and great installation team. After install they took the time to show me what they did. 2 days later we had a leak. We called into the Mannix after hours answering service to report this and get a tech out asap. 20 mins later Jerry showed up from Mannix. Jerry is the owner of the company! after inspecting we found that a builder grade condensation line was leaking water. Jerry explained this was b/c of the cheap materials builders use and typically condensation line replacements aren't part of a new HVAC install. Jerry said, don't worry Mannix will take care of this. He went to Home Depot got some supplies. He came back and replaced the condensation line. I got out my check book and he wouldn't allow me to pay for anything. I tried to tip him $40 and he refused that as well. I think we have found our new HVAC company. Such incredible service and follow up.

Working with Mannix was one of the best experiences I have had with a service company. During the estimate their salesman Bruce was on time and very knowledgeable. He also made a very critical observation that another HVAC company had not noticed that our liquid return line was the wrong size for our current system. Fortunately, he knew Mannix could install a Rheem system on that size line with no trouble. The quote was remarkably fair, saving my wife and I $1300 over a competitor. Plus, this quote was for a Rheem (quality) versus a Goodman (basic) system. Awesome! The day of the install, the service techs showed up BEFORE their scheduled time of 7:30AM, which allowed me to get to my doctors appointment as I had discussed with Bruce. When I returned an hour later the installers were over half done. The whole installation was complete by 11:30. The only problem they encountered was our unusual and in my opinion, crappy thermostat. They replaced the thermostat with a nice new one for no extra charge. I can't say enough about how great this experience was. Also note, I was a previous Eastern Heating and Cooling customer (also a great company). I found Mannix because I called the old Eastern number and it was forwarded to Mannix, which has purchased Eastern. Fear not, you will be happy with Mannix!!

Scheduling was quick and easy over the phone. I was able to get a next day appointment. They were prompt and showed up on the earlier side of the appointment window. He talked through the work he was going to do, step-by-step, provided pricing information and estimated the amount of time it would take to do the work and asked my permission before moving forward. He was incredibly thorough and took less time than initially estimated. I was so pleased that I asked for information about their regular HVAC maintenance program and he ticked through all the things they did during regular maintenance appointments. Great customer service and professionalism. We would definitely work with them again.

Noticed standing water in the pan underneath the water heater after business hours. I contacted the company through their website at night and received a phone call before 8AM the next morning. They were able to come out that same day. They weren't able to provide me a service window due to same day service, but they did give me a call 30 min prior to the technician arriving. The technician was very professional and was able to determine the issue very quickly. He didn't have the part on his truck but was able to go out and get it to do the repair. He explained what he was doing through the repair and flushing process, which my 2.5 year old son really enjoyed and helped me understand how to better care for my water heater. He gave me the option of either him mopping up the water or I could save money and do it myself. Great experience overall

Provider was contacted through email system to inquire as to whether or not they serviced a Generac generator. They do provide that service. Email contact led to contact by telephone where owner of company, was professional and courteous -- promised follow up by further email and telephone to set up maintenance for both Generator AND HVAC system. Further email follow up only occurred after prompting by reviewer and much later than promised. Phone call by technician to set up up generator maintenance occured 3 days later than promised (and after an appointment had been scheduled with a competitor). Overall, experience in trying to set up appointments was abysmal. It should not be that hard to do business with you.

Response from Mannix Heating & Cooling
Here are the facts as I know them to be. This member called our office on Saturday, February 20, 2016, at 10:41 am. At that time, he told our customer service representative that his home was built in 1926 and that he didn’t know what type of heating & cooling system he had but wanted to get it serviced along with the home’s standby generator. He told our representative that his home has “Radiator heat that has flexible duct running through the ceiling and small holes throughout the ceiling to release air”. Since our representative didn’t understand what type of system the member had and that there was no immediate need (both heat and A/C were working), she would have me call this customer Monday morning to see if I could tell what type of system the member had and if we would be able to work on it. I called this member Monday, February 22, at 9:18 am. I left a voicemail message with my cell phone number, and the call was returned within 10 minutes. When this member called me back, he told me I woke him up by calling him so early and that the benefit from working from home was that he could sleep in. After questioning this member about the type of system he had, I was able to determine he had a Unico high velocity system and a gas boiler for heat. I then informed him of the cost of our service agreement and what was included in that cost. At that time I also described what we performed on our generator service. I requested that he take a picture of the generators model and serial number to text to me so my electrician would be able to bring the proper air filter and oil filter at the time of service. I also told him I would email him our service agreement, and if he wanted to set up a maintenance visit to just let me know. I sent an email shortly thereafter but it must not have been received because I received a text at 4:18 pm the same day stating that he never received the email. At this point I was out on an appointment; however, when I got home that evening, I re-sent the email at exactly 8:46pm on Monday, February 22. Here is a copy of the email I sent: “Hi [Member Name Removed], It was nice talking with you today. Attached is a copy of our service agreement, the annual cost is $185, that includes the two visits described on the agreement. By now, our electrician, Byron, should have called you to set up the generator service as I gave him your contact information, plus the model and serial number of your generator. Please let me know if he hasn’t contacted you and I will follow up with him. Please feel free to contact me by phone or email should you have any questions on the agreement. If you would like to move forward, just let me know and we can schedule the first visit. I can have the tech pick up the agreement when he performs the first maintenance.” I never heard from the member again, and then I see the above review. We are sorry this member felt we were difficult to do business with. We train our front line customer service people to ask questions regarding the homes HVAC equipment so we can determine quickly if we can help a customer. We have found that customers appreciate our thoroughness and improved efficiency by being prepared when we arrive at their home. Had we been told initially what type of equipment was at this home, it would have eliminated the back and forth emails and phone calls that were frustrating to this member. Jerry Mannix
