I had received a bid from another tree company on Angie's list for over $2200. I had Carlos (American Tree Care) come out and give me a bid. His bid was for $925. We decided to go with the lower bid. He did such a good job that we gave him $1100. He and his men trimmed the hurricane damage from up in the trees and trimmed the canopy of each of the trees. We are very pleased.
Description of Work: He removed (1) tree, trimmed about 15 other trees, and removed all debris and cleaned up.

After Ike, we contacted our routine tree service company to assist us in completion of removal of a 60 ft. pine that was uproooted in our yard. We were given an estimate after specifying exactly what would be done (cutting the tree into pieces and removing the stump). This did not include removal of the debris. The workers came and in 10 minutes, cut the tree into pieces. they then came and told me they were finished. When I came outside, the stump was still there. They then stated that would be an extra $500. We were left to find someone a bit more trustworthy and it seemed everyone was getting ripped off after Ike. I looked at Angie's List and found Trees by Frank. Frank came by and looked at our trees, but he stated he did more sculpting and trimming of smaller trees and bushes. He recommended Carlos. When Carlos came for the estimatte, he presented us with a written estimate and his insurance information. What a great surprise! Everyone else we had spoken to did not offer any proof of insurance, so much so that we were questioning whether anyone really had it. Carlos was a gentleman and a professional. He had workers, but was there supervising everything, only leaving for a small period of time occasionally. The first day he came and prepared the yard, carefully covering our pool with a tarp. He also moved lawn furniture out of the way. The job was done over a 3 day period due to some personell issues and the last day Carlos and the workers worked all day in the rain. They cleaned up the debris to our satisfaction. The hole in the ground was filled with soil and covered with sod. Overall, a very pleasant experience! We will now use Carlos for all of our tree needs-he did not take advantage of a bad situation as did many others in his business. We are also planning on using Frank to trim our Crepe Myrtles this year. I would recommend this very honest and reasonable man to anyone needing services.
Description of Work: Removal of two 60-80 ft. tall pines (one very close to a power line), a 60 ft. fir and an approximately 6 ft. diameter stump of a 60 ft. pine, which left a large hole. Also removal of all of the debris associated with the removal.

When Luis Mendoza, the tree-man, climbed the oak, he showed me where it was diseased (it was hollow); he advised I cut it down completely. Quoted an additional $350 for that service. Mr. Chris Pruett (owner of company) advised me that he could haul the debris for an additional $350 or I could have the City of Houston pick it up on heavy trash pickup day. Since I thought the City would pick it up (and I wouldn't incur an additional $350 fee), I elected to have the tree cut down. As I found out the next day, the City of Houston does not offer trash removal in Kingwood. Kingwood is serviced by a private company that does not include removal of intentionally cut down trees. I tried to contact Mike Davis (the employee who gave me his business card)on multiple occasions. My husband has left many messages, as well. I have had no return call to date. It has been at least three weeks since the tree was cut down. I had to call another company to grind/haul the tree debris.
Description of Work: Requested quote for removal of all shrubs around perimeter of house (cut below the ground, stumps injected to kill them off); delimb areas over driveway and garage, raise canopy of remaining trees in front yard, removal of two limbs of large oak that was rubbing against a pine. Given a quote of $550. Price was fair. The Players: Chris Pruett, Mike Davis, Luis Mendoza.

American Tree Service provides good service. They have done work for me in the past. They even topped a tree for free that was threatening our drive way. I trusted them enough with their experience with tree removal to do this job too. They have an experienced work crew who are insured against damage, if it should happen.
Description of Work: They cut down two trees and hauled them away.
