But once the building parts were delivered he stopped working They dug the perimeter to the building. The dumpster was repossessed late at night. Two weeks later they came and picked up all their machinery. Trey said he was waiting for 3 days of dry weather to lay concrete. We had 10 days in April. We were already passed first promise due date of April 1st. But now he says he is waiting on inspections. 1st inspection failed due to uneven foundation sand and deer prints, Permits were not collected in February as was told in February that he was getting them with signed documents from me giving him permission to get them. All payments made prior to March to keep workers on the job. They did not fulfill their end of agreement to be paid in advance, Flood vents were suppose to be ordered in January with rest of garage -- done by call to Spry Steel via conference call by Tres, me and Samantha of Spry Steel. Somehow they were overlooked and had to be reordered in May, after second completion date of May 1st. Tres has made no attempt to get anything done since perimeter dug. Last I heard he was having trouble getting inspection of dugout perimeter to get concrete. But I have been told by other contractors that they area is not dug properly and the plastic and rebar need to be spread in the area where building is to be built. The rebar and plastic are sitting in puddles of mud where it has rained over the months and Trey has not bothered to move. Rebar has grass and weeds growing over it. Plastic is becoming useless as it deteriorates in the sun and mud."

"Project went very well and the team worked quickly. Everything that I wanted was accomplished. The only issue is a crack that has developed on the back patio. This is due to the existing patio being poured over and not cut out due to being monolithic with the house foundation. The difference is how the concrete was married together is the reason for the crack and not the fault of work. Reason for 4 star is some property was damaged by operator of a skid steer. Parts were paid for by contractor but operator could have been more careful to avoid the issue altogether. Highly recommend."

This was true from the pre-work site visit which was done with honesty and integrity. Patching a few areas would have cost less and wouldn’t have lasted but a few years. Joseph put the customer (HOA) best interests first. Our main road was rotting and wouldn’t last which meant repair would be a waste of HOA funds. Joseph was the only person out of 4 firms quoting who pointed out the entrance from North Territorial road also needed seal coating. The competence demonstrated from a 30 minute walk through of the road and driveways set HTP apart from 3 other bidders. Joseph provided written estimate and modified it with extra detail that I requested. It’s difficult to find competent firms and people with integrity. Hard stop Paving completed work within 3 weeks of signed contract and our roads and driveways look new and were paved to perfection. Joseph’s father runs the crew with Joseph’s help and has 4 decades of experience. Their crew includes a 35 year employee that brings competence AND diversity to the job site every day. They did not rush, they were meticulous from excavating the old surface of the road, obtained asphalt material with proper color match to driveway seal cost and the place looks new. Crack fill on driveways was thorough which enabled double spray coating driveway surfaces in a single application. The value that Hard Top Paving provides (function divided by cost) is the highest of any asphalt paving firm I have dealt with over the past 40 years. One aspect of the company I find truly unique is that they don’t cash your deposit check until they are close to starting your project. I find most contractors take your deposit check and head straight to the bank so that can use your money to cover costs on their current job. We knew our project was not going to start for 45 to 60 days and our check wasn’t cashed until several days before materials and workers starting appearing on site. With so many horror stories about contractors mishandling funds, it was a pleasant surprise to work with a contractor who did great work and is so financially responsible."
