The work went well. Very professional group. They came out when they said they would and completed the job as promised and contracturally agreed to. Im new to the state but I found a contractor, I will definitely use again. Thank you guys.

This company rips people off in multiple states. I'm in Michigan and the absolutely scammed me of my driveway paving job. So bad I had to call the cops on the old man owner due to him harassing my 3 year old daughter for being on the driveway (we didn't pay the second half) as he drove by our home unannounced on a Sunday evening. Absolutely horrible people inside and out avoid at all costs. See photo is.

We had Hard Top Paving lay asphalt on our existing stone driveway and they did an amazing job! They were some of the most professional contractors I have worked with during all of our remodeling. When gravel came through the asphalt in less then a week, we contacted the owner of Hard Top Paving. After his refusal to recognize the issues in the driveway (i.e., grade, drainage issues, trip hazard, thickness of asphalt and boot prints in the asphalt, etc.), we had an independent inspector assess the condition of the driveway. His assessment was that the driveway could NOT be “fixed” with an overlay or seal coat as suggested by the owner of Hard Top Paving. We paid for a new asphalt driveway not a “fix” or “patch”, thus the contract we signed is null and void as he did not honor it by providing 2-3 inches of asphalt as indicated. The driveway had to be removed and new asphalt was installed. Upon removal of the driveway, it proved the issues went beyond the original assessment. The owner insisted (three times) that we take him to court and try to get our money back. We are. After further investigation, we found other homeowners have filed suit against this company as well. It appears they are running a fraudulent operation. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Hardtop paving resurfaced our 1,700 foot neighborhood park path. Peter and Luke were great to work with throughout the process. The professional team worked efficiently and provided our neighborhood with an excellent new path!

Work was done quickly and efficiently. Employee were courteous, friendly and knowledgeable. Equipment used was clean and right for the task. Owner and employees answered our question to our satisfaction. We recommend them to anyone needing driveways or parking lots.

Hardtop paving is extremely unprofessional. Didn’t show to first appointment and ignored my calls for information. Calls me late at night to make appointment for the next day and shows up over an hour late.. then hangs up on me when I tell the owner I’m no longer interested. DO NOT RECOMMEND

The quality of the work was very bad, I'll give them a one star for their customer service I have to call them back three times to fix their mistakes and they had to called me rude because they mentioned that I call every week to fix the mistakes which is not true. They're very deceptive on the prices they gave me a price and when the job is all done they added another thousand dollars on the price if I want another job they will tell you it on the end of the project.

Would go with another company for better quality work.

Peter and Hardtop Paving was doing work down the street from our house and me and the wife was wanting to black top of driveway and get an area cleared and black topped for parking so we called Pete. he came over the next day to measure the area and give an estimate. We agreed on a price and since he was still working on the driveway down the street he came over to start ours 2 days later. He and his guys did an excellent job clearing and smoothing the driveway first thing. The next day it rained so the work was put on hold until the rained stopped. Pete made sure to call and let me know that he would be by the as soon as the rain stopped. Well 2 days later once the rained stopped and the ground dried up, Pete and his crew were out there with a truck load of fill dirt spreading it on the driveway and a few days later the rocks. The complete job took a week and a half because of the rain but every time there was a delay, Pete always called to assure me that he would be out there as soon as the rain stopped. Like now, he's waiting until things dry up a little to fill in the low spots. They will not black top the driveway yet but they will very soon. I would also like to mention that because of the rain and soft ground (different part of my yard) my wife's car got stuck in the mud and Hardtop's crew helped me to get the car unstuck and out of the mud. They're a good crew and Pete is always willing to assist in any way he can. My yard has bad drainage so I will be calling Hardtop Paving to do a French drainage in the yard and maybe even a little pond in the front yard once it dries up since they also do yard work and drainages.

We are VERY pleased with the service that Hard Top Paving provided. This company was on time and showed up, to do the job, when they stated that they would be here. The owner, Peter Stevens is very cordial and helpful with all of our needs. He is fair and followed up on each step of the project. Our driveway looks great! We give this company a AAA rating, and highly recommend their service to others.

The asphalt in my driveway was about 20 years old and for the most part still in good condition. I decided to replace it because of a grading issue (water was not running off and collected near the garage door). When I signed the contract I was told that the work would start the following week and that I will get a call the day before they come out. I called on Thursday and asked if we are still on track. I was told that they have to postpone the job another week, ok. Got a call on Saturday afternoon saying they will be here on Sunday. Changed my plans for the weekend and got a call Sunday morning saying that they can't come today - but Monday. Unsure if they would show up, I asked them to give me a call when they're on their way. I got a call that day when they were in my driveway starting to remove the old asphalt. I had to leave work and rush home to give them a check and the check was cashed an hour into the job. I noticed that their skid steer was leaking hydraulic oil all over the street and in my yard and they constantly had to refill the oil to keep the equipment running. I asked them to fix the leak and not continue to work. They stopped for 15 minutes didn't fix the leak and called the owner (who was not on site as stated on their website). He showed up and told his guys to keep running - still heavily spilling oil. They brought in gravel for the base and compacted and ended the day telling me they would be back in a couple of days to finish the job. I called 3 days later to find out what's going on. The owner told next day (Friday). Friday came and nobody showed up or called. I called again and was told definitely this week (Saturday/ Sunday). I mentioned to the owner that I have doubts that he will keep his promise and I mentioned that I sent him an email with a detailed report addressing the oil situation and that neighbors complained about it and areas that didn't get prepped properly (less than an inch of gravel as base for asphalt). The owner did not respond to my email but was very rude over the phone and told me that he should have "finished the job last week, get the rest of my money and leave". That?s one example why the company got my low rating on professionalism... Finally on Monday they came and laid the new asphalt after fixing the issues with the base. They didn't clean the huge oil spots on the road as promised earlier. The seeems of the new asphalt are just not done well. There are more seems than necessary and one seem is raised more than 1/2" and runs across the driveway not allowing water to drain. Now $3700 later I still have huge water puddles of water in almost the same area than I had on my 20 year old driveway!

Improper prep work had grass growing thru the asphalt & disintegrating around the edges & puddles form in low spots. He called me saying to change the last review & he would fix it & never came. Game over. If he calls me again I WILL be contacting Angies List management.

The asphalt milling was put down with a paving machine and compressed with a rolling machine. I am pleased with the work and the price.

Didn't prep the area before very well & I have plants growing up thru the asphalt & the lack of material used have me low spots causing puddles. Said he would come back to fix but we will see.

I was very pleased with their price; they gave the best of all the bids I received. They also gave me a return call right away, which really impressed me. Some things came up on my end that prevented me from moving forward with the project, but I am planning to do it in the spring once it's not so cold.

All in all, the driveway came out pretty well. This appears to be a family owned business, as the owner and his Dad were both on site and ran the major equipment. They claimed to have 30 years experience in the business. They were cordial and responsive to my needs. They nearly always answered their cell phone and returned voicemails very quickly. I do suggest that you support the project in person, as they move quickly and need your immediate input as to decisions along the way. There are a couple small areas that "puddle up" on the driveway, but all-in-all, the water drains off the driveway as it should. The one main area where improvement is needed is in their clean-up. Their equipment was leaking fluid and left several stains on the road.......and I also had to clean-up some of their waste afterwards (buckets, cans, etc). In sumary, these guys are responsive and can satisfactoraly lay asphalt. Definitely be home while the job is being done and be sure you're clear in what your expectations are.
