"Tristin Clark was superb! He fixed a door lock that had been worked on by at least 8 work folks over the past 6 years. He was the first to realize the whole lock mechanism was upside down. Once he fixed it we were astonished to discover how easy it was to lock that door."

Choose your primary handyman, so you don't have to deal with a secondary. Here at Primary Handyman, LLC. we strive for perfection. Every job that we do is treated as if we were working on our own home. We understand that most customers are hesitant on bringing in strangers to work on one of your most valuable possessions. Therefore, we believe reputation is everything. We are licensed and insured in the state of Michigan. Please give us a call, we would be happy to relieve the stress from your shoulders.

"Contacted primary handyman to install laminate flooring on two staircases in my home. We set up a date for him to come out to give me a quote. He ended up calling me the day of the quote having to cancel. He stated that an emergency came up at one of his jobsites and he wasn’t able to leave. We rescheduled and he was able to come out a week later. He told me he would get back with me with a quote in a few days. I had to contact him a week and a half later for the quote. He said he still needed more time to put it together but should have it to me in a couple days. Primary handyman did send me a quote and I excepted. He said he could start the second week in December. I agreed to the quote he gave me which was a reasonable price. He then sent me a contract for me to sign and to pay a 50% deposit. After I signed the contract and paid my 50% deposit he said he would be contacting me right before the start date. When he contacted me (December 2nd) he said he was behind on work with three different jobs due to COVID-19. As a nurse I understood the impact COVID-19 was having and businesses so I agreed to reschedule. I had already bought all my flooring and supplies. Primary handyman told me he had nothing scheduled in January and would be able to complete the job then. He said the only thing he had going on was a vacation in the beginning of January and that he had nothing else lined up. He assured me there would be no problems getting the job done. So we agreed on January 25. On January 21st I messaged him to see if everything was still a go since I had not heard from him. He responded back “Hello, yes we are. I will giving you a call this evening to go over a few things.” Primary handyman did call me in the evening and told me that he will not be able to do the job. He said that he had asked somebody else to do it because he was so backed up and work . (Never notified me that another person was doing the job he said he’d be doing). He said this person just called him 30 minutes ago and backed out. Not only did he say that he had to cancel but that he wouldn’t be able to do my staircases because he is so overwhelmed with work and would have to refund my money. I asked him what happened to him not having anything lined up for the month of January? He stuttered and said well I didn’t but then I did. Sounds like something better came along and he didn’t want my business. My estimate was in November and he has wasted months of my time. Now I’m back at ground Zero trying to find somebody to put in my flooring. I suppose all the signs were there along and I should have followed my gut that he was not reliable."

For last last 3 years, I’ve been restoring and rehabbing (while residing in) my 1923 home located just a few blocks from B-E on Collingwood. It features Art&Crafts details with lots of woodwork, zinc-camed leadlight windows, and wooden double hung windows. I’ve kept to traditional methods and design, particularly with the windows, especially on the front of the house, since I simply can’t imagine replacing wood of this age and quality with modern manufactured materials. I began restoring the double hung windows to original functionality, and fabricating new sashes, storm windows and wooden screens from scratch where needed. I also fabricate and restore leadlight casment windows in both lead and zinc, and am moving towards working more in stained glass. As might be expected, I’ve gathered quite a lot of experience, knowledge, vendors and resources in these old techniques.

Glass and mirror services FAQs

The cost to repair a window is $400 on average, with prices ranging from $75 to $1,500, depending on the window size, the broken part, and the window type. Broken glass and window frames are typically the most expensive window repairs, while minor fixes like repairing the track, seal, and sash are more affordable. Other cost factors include:

  • Number of panes

  • Window material

  • Accessibility

  • Labor costs

  • Emergency window repair

For most common repairs, a professional window repair service can fix a window in one to three hours. However, replacing window frames or repairing a large, multi-pane window will likely take longer to complete. For comparison, a window installation or repair professional should be able to replace up to 15 windows per day.

Yes, you can repair a damaged or cracked mirror with a repair kit. However, DIY mirror repairs are best suited for minor cracks and chips in the glass, whereas you may need to hire a glass repair contractor to fix a large, valuable mirror with extensive damage. To repair minor glass issues, use a resin-based repair kit and be sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions for best results. You can also remove scratches from glass with metal polish, nail polish, baking soda, or glass polisher.

The type of window repairs required significantly impacts the project cost. It’s always best to hire a local window repair company for this kind of work. The most common window parts that need repair include:

  • Broken seal or fogginess between panes: $70–$245

  • Cracked pane: $40–$100

  • Broken glass: $200–$2,000

  • Sash, seal, or track: $200–$600

  • Latch or hardware: $75–$200

  • Broken window frame: $175–$1,000

  • Replace window screen: $140–$480

Stained glass window repairs cost about $300 on average. Typical prices range from $65 to $800, depending on the size, location, repairs needed, and whether you need to fully or partially replace the window. Full stained glass window replacements can cost $700 to $5,000 per panel. The repair type also impacts repair costs:

  • Crack: $100–$300

  • Faded glass: $100–$300

  • Regrouting: $200–$500

  • Cement replacement: $200–$500

  • New window frame: $200–$500

  • Cleaning: $300–$600

  • Resoldering joints: $500–$1,500

  • Replacing reinforcing bars: $700–$3,000
