"I’d like to warn you all about Octagon Construction and the horrible experience we have had with them. Before Thanksgiving, the machine overflowed. For hours. Filled my basement. Serv Pro came and tested everything and determined our floors needed to come out in the basement, kitchen, hall, bathroom and laundry room. Octagon Construction told us we were next on the list. We moved into a hotel. They told us it would be done in a week . They came for a few days and then no one showed up. For days. Mike reached out to them & they said they went to do some other job. Then they told us it would be another week. And then another week. And then another week. When we finally came home after a month + my house was completely filthy. Every nook, every cranny, under several inches of dust, including upstairs, in my bedroom, in my drawers. Everywhere. I took time off from work and started cleaning. Every single thing I own. My previously freshly painted walls now had stuff smeared on them that wouldn’t come off. The dust isn’t regular dust but more like some dust and goo combo that isn’t easy to clean off. Mike had to repaint the walls. But worse, our floor looked like s***. There were tiles popping up everywhere. There were huge gaps around the edge & the trim. The insurance guy came. A tile expert came. And then Octagon informed us we would have to move back to the hotel. I lost it because I’d just spent several days cleaning from the time I got up until the time I went to bed. They promised that this time they would clean. They said they would be done Sunday. When I finally got home Tuesday my couch was IN PIECES in the middle of the living room and s*** was in piles. And the dust was back on everything again and in every nook and cranny. My basement is covered in the dust and wood shavings. My refrigerator is dented. My brand new stool has a hole on it. My weights are covered in thinsulate. There are dings in the walls, paint on the floor, scratches on my fridge and walls. A plant is just entirely missing. I sent pictures to Alex, the schmuck who’s the contact at Octagon. This morning , after promising they would clean everything when he told us we had to move back out, I sent pictures when I got home, I get this message “We have met and exceeded our contractual obligations for our agreed upon scope of work. You will be receiving our invoice for the balance due. “"

Zach was hard working and got the job done in a timely manner without quality suffering. Would hire again for future home projects."

Local Expert Water, Fire, Smoke and Mold Restoration in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Call for fast, local 24x7 response.
"Avoid these people!!!!!! They are the worst. They tell you lie after lie and take forever to do the work. My insurance company called them in even though it was not in my best interest. I regret the day I let them in my front door, and I regret the day I let Allstate insure my house."

We are a local Maine company, independently owned and operated. Our business relies on customer satisfaction. We serve our friends and neighbors in the communities where we live, work and play. We are familiar with insurance claim procedures.
"I don't normally write negative reviews, but my experience was so unusual that I am compelled to share it. When I called to explain my drain problem, my impression of the company was of competency, reliability and professionalism. When Vern, punctually, showed up, I greeted him, offered a coffee (he said he shopped at the market on his way over) and I asked how he was going to lift the very heavy grate that covered the manhole without a machine. He said he was very strong and gave me examples of bigger and heavier grates he was used to lifting. He told me to go back in the house and that he would call me out when done. About 20 minutes later, my husband went out to check in and see how Vern was doing, but Vern was gone. Since they had been very specific about receiving payment on site, I called Vern, whose cell phone was now off, and then dialed the office to ask how much I owed. Derek answered the call, and said he would call Vern to ask why he, so unusually, had left without saying anything and without collecting payment. When I didn't receive a call back from Derek, I called again, also because I had checked the grate in the meantime, and noticed that it had not been moved at all. Derek answered and told me that Vern told him he had left because there was too much dirt in the manhole and he couldn't find the drain. He fed me the great news that they weren't going to charge me and suggested I find another company. I was confused because the manhole is not filled with sand and I now I had doubts that he even lifted the grate at all, and felt that, if that had been the case, a company as professional as that would have certainly called me out to show me the problem before driving away. A second call from Derek returned a new story entirely, which was that Vern had told me he didn't think he could unclog the drain and that he had done so before leaving. That was not true, and as I pressed for clarifications, I received a call from Vern (whose cell phone had been off earlier) very apologetic stating that he had injured his back while lifting the grate and had to leave abruptly. So I called Derek again who said that that it was all very strange to him and he didn't feel comfortable sending Vern or anyone else out in the future because the story didn't compute, implying that none of his employees should have to deal with me. I offered to have a three-way conversation with Vern to get the story straight, but Derek refused. Derek's suggestion that I was not being honest and that I should find another company, really shocked me and it made me start to wonder whether this company was even legit. At the end of a conversation that felt as if I were in the Twilight Zone even though the tone of it all was courteous, I asked Derek if I could speak to an owner, or supervisor and he said he was his own supervisor and the owner, Rob, would probably be too busy to call me, but might do so in a few weeks. I am not a poster child for morality but I am principled and honest, and I have always adhered to a strict code of ethics both as a customer and a business person--I do have a reputation to uphold. To be lied to, dismissed and then treated as if I were the offender with such blatant nonchalance was a test to my tolerance that I evidently have failed. I am not sure why I can't let this go and why it's so hard for me to let the Dereks and the Verns of the world get away with such unbecoming business practices, without even having the courtesy of fabricating more plausible excuses. Maybe Rob has no need for a good reputation, and my values are too old fashioned. I am saddened that companies like Eastern Drain and Mold Remediation are this confident to treat customers poorly with no concern for a negative impact on their future revenue."

When you find water damage, your first order of business is to keep everyone on the property safe, so if you have standing water, evacuate if it’s safe. If possible, find the source of the water and stop it, which could mean shutting your water main to prevent pipe leaks. Next, you should notify your insurance company and immediately call a water damage restoration professional. They will work with you and your insurance company to create a solution to fix the issue and file an insurance claim for the cost of the damage.
The three methods or phases of water damage remediation are mitigation, remediation, and restoration. Mitigation is an emergency response that can include shutting off your water main or patching a hole in your roof from a fallen tree limb. Remediation includes drying the affected area, removing damaged materials, and dealing with any resulting mold growth. Restoration includes the build-back required to return your property to its previous condition. All three methods should be a part of any water damage remediation plan.
When hiring a water damage restoration company, you should confirm that the remediation plan includes fixing the underlying problem, dealing with resulting mold growth or rotted materials, and any making any build-back necessary to restore your property to its previous condition. Each phase of the remediation plan should include specific testing and inspection details to ensure the work is done properly and in a way that doesn’t prevent the restoration cost from being denied by your insurance provider.
If you find evidence of water damage in your home, your best option is to call a local water damage restoration company immediately. You could call a plumber first if you know that the issue is stemming from a plumbing pipe, but in many cases, a company that specifically handles water damage will be able to find the source of the damage and recommend a specific repair. Water damage restoration pros will also be able to develop a plan to remove any damaged material and restore your home to its previous condition.
The average water damage restoration cost is around $3,500, but it’s not uncommon to see prices fall between $450 and $15,000. Your project cost will depend on the extent of the damage, the source of the water, whether or not mold has grown in the affected area from the moisture, and the emergency level of your water problem. Keep in mind that your insurance company may cover some or all of your restoration expenses if your homeowner’s insurance policy covers the specific issue.
