I don't normally write negative reviews, but my experience was so unusual that I am compelled to share it. When I called to explain my drain problem, my impression of the company was of competency, reliability and professionalism. When Vern, punctually, showed up, I greeted him, offered a coffee (he said he shopped at the market on his way over) and I asked how he was going to lift the very heavy grate that covered the manhole without a machine. He said he was very strong and gave me examples of bigger and heavier grates he was used to lifting. He told me to go back in the house and that he would call me out when done. About 20 minutes later, my husband went out to check in and see how Vern was doing, but Vern was gone. Since they had been very specific about receiving payment on site, I called Vern, whose cell phone was now off, and then dialed the office to ask how much I owed. Derek answered the call, and said he would call Vern to ask why he, so unusually, had left without saying anything and without collecting payment. When I didn't receive a call back from Derek, I called again, also because I had checked the grate in the meantime, and noticed that it had not been moved at all. Derek answered and told me that Vern told him he had left because there was too much dirt in the manhole and he couldn't find the drain. He fed me the great news that they weren't going to charge me and suggested I find another company. I was confused because the manhole is not filled with sand and I now I had doubts that he even lifted the grate at all, and felt that, if that had been the case, a company as professional as that would have certainly called me out to show me the problem before driving away. A second call from Derek returned a new story entirely, which was that Vern had told me he didn't think he could unclog the drain and that he had done so before leaving. That was not true, and as I pressed for clarifications, I received a call from Vern (whose cell phone had been off earlier) very apologetic stating that he had injured his back while lifting the grate and had to leave abruptly. So I called Derek again who said that that it was all very strange to him and he didn't feel comfortable sending Vern or anyone else out in the future because the story didn't compute, implying that none of his employees should have to deal with me. I offered to have a three-way conversation with Vern to get the story straight, but Derek refused. Derek's suggestion that I was not being honest and that I should find another company, really shocked me and it made me start to wonder whether this company was even legit. At the end of a conversation that felt as if I were in the Twilight Zone even though the tone of it all was courteous, I asked Derek if I could speak to an owner, or supervisor and he said he was his own supervisor and the owner, Rob, would probably be too busy to call me, but might do so in a few weeks. I am not a poster child for morality but I am principled and honest, and I have always adhered to a strict code of ethics both as a customer and a business person--I do have a reputation to uphold. To be lied to, dismissed and then treated as if I were the offender with such blatant nonchalance was a test to my tolerance that I evidently have failed. I am not sure why I can't let this go and why it's so hard for me to let the Dereks and the Verns of the world get away with such unbecoming business practices, without even having the courtesy of fabricating more plausible excuses. Maybe Rob has no need for a good reputation, and my values are too old fashioned. I am saddened that companies like Eastern Drain and Mold Remediation are this confident to treat customers poorly with no concern for a negative impact on their future revenue.

I don't think it's possible to have had better service, professionalism, or accommodation to our needs. This is old-fashioned service in the best, most valuable ways. Eastern Mold got everything right and choosing them to do our job was the best decision ever. Ellen and Bob Tracy are a class act.
Description of Work: Working in an impossibly difficult to maneuver in crawl space, Eastern Mold removed all of the moldy insulation, inadequate moisture barriers, and much more; then treated the wood, dried it out, and installed a drain, sump pump, and dehumidifier so that the problem doesn't return. After 16 years of neglect by the previous owners, we won't have to worry about mold in our new house.

The entire crew from Eastern Mold Remediation were nothing short of exceptional. From my first contact with Ellen in the office and Bob doing the estimate we were very pleased with their professionalism. They were able to get out and look at the project and had an estimate to us within 24 hours. Between the time of the estimate and doing the project they were available to work with our insurance company and answer questions we had. The crew came in to do the work and Bob was there to get the project started and show the crew the issues found. The crew was Andy, Dakota, Jordan, and Brendon. The guys were very courteous and cared about our concerns and needs during the entire project. We continued to live in the main portion of the house and they made sure that we were safe and never at risk during their work. The work ethic demonstrated by this group of guys in there twenties was not what you might expect these days, they were committed to high quality workmanship and pleasing the customer. They traveled an hour and half each way to get to the job and one of the days there was a severe rain storm with high winds, they called to let us know they would be a 15 minutes late getting to the job because of the weather. We hope to never have a need for mold remediation in the future, but if we do they would be the only call I would make. We called three companies for this project and the other two were not worth the phone call, one didn't even come do an estimate and the other was over a week getting an estimate out. I have great trust in Eastern Mold Remediation and would recommend them to anyone in need of this type of service.
Description of Work: We found an area of mold in our new addition in an unfinished attic space. When Bob came to look at it and give us an estimate he was able to follow the mold trail and found that it went down into the living space behind the sheetrock. The crew set up barriers between the area we were living in and the area to be treated. They then removed all of the trim boards and baseboard heat and labeled it all for reuse. Then the sheetrock and insulation from the exterior walls were removed and disposed of. The remediation process included air filtration and vacuuming the walls on two floors and in the attic. After the vacuuming was completed they treated with mold removing / killing chemicals that were unbelievable with their effectiveness. Drying fans and dehumidifiers were placed overnight and the crew returned to retreat a few severe spots. The drying continued until the humidity levels were acceptable and then another vacuuming was done. Finally a preventative coating was sprayed on to seal the wood. When completed with the remediation work they removed all of the barriers and vacuumed the rooms involved and washed all of the windows.

Skip the other guys and hire Eastern Mold Remediation! I had originally hired Northeastern Mold Remediation out of Hampden to treat a top and bottom floor for damage caused by a burst water pipe. Do yourself a favor and don't hire Northeastern. I had visited a couple of times while they were working and if they weren't outside smoking, they were slowly bring pieces if debris out to the dumpster. When I questioned them about moisture, they told me they felt that area by hand and that it seemed dry. I had to beg them to remove wall parts that were ruined by water. I was very disappointed in their lack of knowledge and motivation...oh, and once they get paid by the insurance company, good luck getting a call back to answer questions. A month down the road I had AQM come in and do an air quality test because I noticed mold growth, and sure enough, we had mold growth and issues because Northeastern had not properly dried or treated for mold. When there is water damage, you HAVE to treat the area with an antimicrobial so that no growth occurs. I then hired Eastern Mold to complete the job and fix the damage left behind by Northeastern. My standards and expectaions are high. Not only were they very professional and very detailed, but I had an air quailty test done after they were gone and the results were amazing. I should have hired Eastern Mold in the first place. I was very impressed. Save yourself disaster and a future headache and hire these guys! They know what they are doing and are very responsive. They wont finish the job until you're happy. I would recommend Eastern Mold Remediation company to anyone who wants to have water damage and mold prevention or remediation done properly. They are worth every penny!!

I saw a commercial on TV for this company months ago--before I ever knew I would need them. But, I wrote the number down because the commercial was so informative and you never know.... Well, fast forward to the winter from h*** in Maine a short time later and when I went up into the garage loft, it looked like someone had painted it black. Bob came out, assessed the situation and Ellen set up the schedule. The men arrived and set to work, and work hard they did. They carefully cleaned and moved the lawn furniture, window screens, etc. that were stored in the loft, disposed of all organic material (empty boxes) that harbors the mold, and vacuumed up any debris. After the mold was cleaned off, they set up large fans to dry the wood and dehumidify the space. When they came back the next day and took a measurement of the moisture remaining in the wood, they found it hadn't dried sufficiently and were not able to put the sealant on it. That was a 90 minute drive for them to turn around and go back to the shop and I so appreciated a company that really did care about doing the best job. They returned today to finish and my garage looks better than when I bought the house. The men are so professional yet friendly! They took time to explain everything to me. They were always asking if there was something else I wanted them to move before they moved anything or discarded anything. I don't know when I have had such exceptional service. I asked for business cards because I know I will be recommending them to anyone I know who has a mold or water problem. Thank you Bob, Ellen, Dakota, Derek, Kyle and Andy (I hope I got them all!). You are the best!

Excellent! EMR has been one of the best companies we have ever worked with. Their communication was outstanding throughout the entire project and the crew was always very professional and friendly...such a nice group of young men. I would recommend EMR to anyone and certainly would hire them again for any issue in the future. Honestly cannot imagine anyone doing a better job than EMR.
