PuroClean, a leader in property emergency services, helps families and businesses overcome the devastating setbacks caused by water, fire, mold and other conditions resulting in property damage. Each of our independently owned franchises pledge to do whatever it takes to respond, restore and rescue properties in all of the communities we serve.

"PuroClean in Stevensville has now worked with me through two separate flood disasters to my home. In both instances they were professional, accessible, and did excellent work. Past reviews on Angie’s List (through 2016) May not reflect the company’s high quality performance under new ownership. I would recommend this PuroClean to family and friends."

"I recently had the pleasure of working with Shawn from Superior Damage Restoration to address a persistent water leak issue in my penthouse duplex unit. The problem was that water was seeping through from under the flooring and down the stairs whenever it rained. Previous contractors had incorrectly suggested that the issue was with the balcony door. Shawn and his team provided a comprehensive explanation of the root cause and took a thorough approach to resolve it. They removed the damaged flooring, waterproofed the balcony door, and even assisted with moving furniture around during the process. Despite their initial efforts, the issue persisted, but they didn't give up. Using thermal devices, they identified that the water was actually coming from the rooftop, down the wall frame studs, and into the floor. Once the true source was identified, they promptly waterproofed the rooftop, and after the next rain, I was relieved to see that no water came through. The team then continued with the flooring work, and Shawn offered an excellent choice of new flooring that perfectly matched the shade of the rest of the unit. I'm extremely satisfied with the work done by Shawn and his team. They were accommodating, responsive, efficient, and pleasant to have around. I'm looking forward to working with them to waterproof other areas of the rooftop to ensure this issue is fully resolved. I highly recommend Superior Damage Restoration for their professionalism and dedication to solving complex problems."

Baltimore Home Specs is a fully licensed and owner-operated Home Inspection company that meets and exceeds all of Marylands state regulations. We provide an expert evaluation of your home by highly trained professionals who follow the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics set forth by the National Association of Home Inspectors (NAHI). This type of inspection leaves less of a margin for error, since two sets of skilled eyes are observing the home, and also saves time. Both inspectors work together to provide the most detailed and accurate assessment possible. We offer this service at no extra cost to our clients. Baltimore Home Specs offers a variety of services in order to inspect your home completely from roof to foundation, including mold and radon inspections. MOLD INSPECTIONS Our inspectors are IESO certified What is Mold? Molds are fungi. Tiny particles of mold are present in the indoor and outdoor air that we breathe. Under the right conditions mold spores can multiply- towards dangerous levels and thrive. In order to create a proper environment to grow, mold most importantly needs moisture. What type of problems are associated with Mold? Damage to the Home Mold can easily cause damage to your personal belongings, furniture, and other material goods in your home. Signs of mold usually mean that moisture is entering the home from somewhere and possibly causing serious damage to the structure of your home. Health Problems People are exposed to mold when they breathe spores, make contact with skin, or swallow it. Mold can seriously affect the health of those exposed to it. Common symptoms of mold exposure are: nasal/sinus congestion, cough, wheeze, sore throat, skin/eye irritation, and upper respiratory infections. Should I have a mold inspection? Yes Mold problems are not always obvious to the untrained eye and left untreated mold can damage your home and seriously affect your familys health. Even small areas of mold can lead to serious problems later on. Mold can even be found in your duct work. Why take such a risk when the costs for a mold inspection are minimal? What is IESO? The Indoor Environmental Standards Organization (IESO) is a non-profit organization that works to provide indoor environmental quality standards. The IESO provides guidelines that are designed to address fundamental concerns relative to mold contamination issues. The IESO also offers training and certification programs to promote compliance to the established standards for indoor air quality. As IESO certified inspectors we offer a cost effective mold screen and have the ability to refer you to specialists if sampling reveals the need for additional investigation. Baltimore Home Specs LLC only uses accredited laboratories for sample analyses. RADON INSPECTIONS What is Radon? Radon is radioactive gas. It is a cancer causing gas that cannot be seen, smelled, or tasted. Radon is a gas occurring from the natural breakdown of uranium in soil, rock, and water. Why is Radon so dangerous? Radon particles become trapped in lungs damaging the tissue and eventually can cause lung cancer over time. The Surgeon General states radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the US next to cigarette smoking. It is estimated that radon gas contributes to the death of over 20,000 people every year It is the number one cause of lung cancer in non-smokers Where is Radon Gas found? Radon gas can be found anywhere in any home. Radon gas is emitted from the earth and then trapped inside your home, where it can gather in dangerous levels. Should I have MY house tested for elevated levels of radon? Yes Without question, Radon testing could be one of the most important things you do for your familys health.

"Chris was a pleasure to work with. He was polite, thorough and knowledgeable in scoping the conversion of my home into a rental property."

Biohazard remediation services FAQs

There are several instances where household biohazard cleanup would be needed. All in all, anytime an event can potentially expose people to chemicals, pathogens, or viruses, a biohazard cleanup company must be called. These events can include:

  • Sewage backup

  • Unattended death or crime scene after death

  • Virus decontamination

  • Medical waste disposal

  • Animal waste disposal

  • Odor control

  • Hazardous chemical removal

The cost of biohazard cleanup averages between $3,000 and $5,000 for most homeowners. Some services, like sanitizing high-traffic areas or sanitizing surfaces from a virus, cost closer to $1,500. However, other circumstances, like the extensive cleanup after a major sewer backup, could cost as much as $25,000

While a biohazard cleanup sounds like a scary process, knowing what to expect can help ease your concerns and set you up for success. It’s good to note that more than one professional might be needed depending on your situation, but that will be determined during the assessment. What you can expect during a home biohazard cleanup is the following:

  • Assessment: The first step in this process is for a biohazard cleanup professional to assess the damage. They create a report that includes the biohazard safety level, the needed damage cleanup, and the time it should take to complete the project.

  • Setup: The cleanup professional prepares the site to prevent cross-contamination and reduce toxicity risk. This process can include tarping and creating decontamination zones.

  • Removal of surface contamination: Any contaminated materials are removed from the area, starting with large materials followed by small ones. The professional can assess any floor-related damage once everything is removed from the site.

  • Salvaging items: The biohazard cleanup professionals assess which items can be saved and which are contaminated beyond the point of saving. Those deemed unsafe will be disposed of immediately.

  • Waste disposal: The next step is carefully disposing of the hazardous waste. Your professional will place the contaminated items in specific containers to keep the contamination from spreading.

  • Disinfection: The house will be disinfected and odor-neutralized. Even more minor details, like light switches and bulbs, will be disinfected so that they do not recontaminate the area in the future.

  • Restoration: Once the decontamination is complete, the last step is to restore the home. This includes repairing the damage to flooring, walls, or even the home's foundation.

Most homeowner’s insurance policies can help cover the cost of biohazard cleanings for specific events. Biohazard events like unattended death, infectious disease, and medical emergency are generally covered, as are flooring and drywall repairs. It’s best to check with your insurance company to see what is specifically covered.

One of the best ways to prepare for a home biohazard cleanup is not to touch anything. Do not remove belongings, even if they are of value or importance, from the area as they are likely contaminated. It’s essential not to use any cleaning products of your own, as the cleaning company will be using chemicals that could interact with your products.

One thing you can do to prepare is take pictures of your space and belongings that need to be cleaned, especially if you plan on filing a claim with your insurance company. In addition, take time to make a list of items that are valuable, sentimental, or otherwise important. The cleanup company must evaluate these belongings to make sure they are safe.
