When it comes to water damage restoration, mitigation, remediation, fire damage, or cleaning services, our local SERVPRO of Hendricks County team has experience with residential and commercial projects in Hendricks County. We employ IICRC-certified technicians with varying specialties and have invested in state-of-the-art equipment and ongoing training to get your property back to “Like it never even happened."

"We had a house fire in early May. ServPro have likely caused more damage than the house fire. After sitting around for 90 days, they rushed the job and threw out roughly 60% of non-salvageable items without documenting what was tossed. This means that we will roughly lose $80,000 from our claim. At first, the owner claimed the iPad that housed our data was stolen and later broken. When I asked for a police report they changed their story and they simply do a good job of documenting everything that was tossed. They also didn't perform a thorough dry-out, so it appears we now have a mold issue. They were supposed to share daily moisture logs and we never received any data from them. I've helped over 60 ServPro locations across Canada with UX/customer experience and never imagined a company could be this bad under the ServPro name. Avoid at all costs, because their poor service will cost you in the end. Note: It wasn't even ServPro that performed that Matterport scans, yet they keep bringing them up as if they performed these scans. So far, the only remedy ServPro has recommended is that we "try to imagine" what was in the 5 roll-off bins of items they tossed but failed to document."

We are an emergency response home restoration company in Indianapolis. Simply put when disaster strikes in your home, we're the first people to call. Whether it's water, mold, fire damage, or any emergency damage we are equipped and always prepared to stop the bleeding whatever it may be We specialize in giving you quality and timely service while walking along side you through the mayhem of adjusters, insurance companies, and God forbid re builders. We are family owned and owner operated which means EVERYONE who works for this company is invested in the work. We treat our customers like they're a sister or father who needs help in the middle of a mess.

"My father (a disabled veteran with stage 4 renal disease) had very little heat due to an issue with his furnace. When the furnace company came to repair it, they discovered that there was water in the basement. The repair could not take place until the water was removed. I called Restoration 1. They came out and I spoke with a representative who told me they could extract the water/ sewer sludge and spray for mold. They asked me to pay ½ up front and half at completion. I paid the first invoice and they came out. After they finished the furnace/plumbing group came out again and told me that the work had not been completed. The floor still had sewer sludge and they could not work in the basement. I called Restoration 1 back and asked them to come back and finish the job. After a lot of bickering, they did finally agree. They came out in the late afternoon, completed it, and sent me an email very close to the end of the day. The next morning I went to pay the bill and inquired about receiving the pictures to send to the other group and they immediately threatened to sue me to take my father’s home away from him. They told me they had a lien on my father’s home and they were calling their attorney. I had already paid the first half of the bill, this was less than 24 hours after they had completed the redo of the initial work and they had not yet sent me the pictures. I paid the other half of the bill and I still have not received pictures to send to the other company. This experience was so stressful and emotionally difficult. I felt they were very cruel to try to take my father’s home. My father is on dialysis three times a week and doesn’t have the means or mobility to be kicked out of his home. I was not even a full day late sending the second half of the payment, (which was only late because the job had been completed late). They still have not sent me the pictures."

Biohazard remediation services FAQs

There are several instances where household biohazard cleanup would be needed. All in all, anytime an event can potentially expose people to chemicals, pathogens, or viruses, a biohazard cleanup company must be called. These events can include:

  • Sewage backup

  • Unattended death or crime scene after death

  • Virus decontamination

  • Medical waste disposal

  • Animal waste disposal

  • Odor control

  • Hazardous chemical removal

The cost of biohazard cleanup averages between $3,000 and $5,000 for most homeowners. Some services, like sanitizing high-traffic areas or sanitizing surfaces from a virus, cost closer to $1,500. However, other circumstances, like the extensive cleanup after a major sewer backup, could cost as much as $25,000

While a biohazard cleanup sounds like a scary process, knowing what to expect can help ease your concerns and set you up for success. It’s good to note that more than one professional might be needed depending on your situation, but that will be determined during the assessment. What you can expect during a home biohazard cleanup is the following:

  • Assessment: The first step in this process is for a biohazard cleanup professional to assess the damage. They create a report that includes the biohazard safety level, the needed damage cleanup, and the time it should take to complete the project.

  • Setup: The cleanup professional prepares the site to prevent cross-contamination and reduce toxicity risk. This process can include tarping and creating decontamination zones.

  • Removal of surface contamination: Any contaminated materials are removed from the area, starting with large materials followed by small ones. The professional can assess any floor-related damage once everything is removed from the site.

  • Salvaging items: The biohazard cleanup professionals assess which items can be saved and which are contaminated beyond the point of saving. Those deemed unsafe will be disposed of immediately.

  • Waste disposal: The next step is carefully disposing of the hazardous waste. Your professional will place the contaminated items in specific containers to keep the contamination from spreading.

  • Disinfection: The house will be disinfected and odor-neutralized. Even more minor details, like light switches and bulbs, will be disinfected so that they do not recontaminate the area in the future.

  • Restoration: Once the decontamination is complete, the last step is to restore the home. This includes repairing the damage to flooring, walls, or even the home's foundation.

Most homeowner’s insurance policies can help cover the cost of biohazard cleanings for specific events. Biohazard events like unattended death, infectious disease, and medical emergency are generally covered, as are flooring and drywall repairs. It’s best to check with your insurance company to see what is specifically covered.

One of the best ways to prepare for a home biohazard cleanup is not to touch anything. Do not remove belongings, even if they are of value or importance, from the area as they are likely contaminated. It’s essential not to use any cleaning products of your own, as the cleaning company will be using chemicals that could interact with your products.

One thing you can do to prepare is take pictures of your space and belongings that need to be cleaned, especially if you plan on filing a claim with your insurance company. In addition, take time to make a list of items that are valuable, sentimental, or otherwise important. The cleanup company must evaluate these belongings to make sure they are safe.
