"AVOID AT ALL COSTS! When our air conditioner of 21 years died, we called our home warrenty company to report the issue. we reached out to 5 companies in our area to get quotes for a new ac while we waited for the home warranty company to assign someone to come out to diagnose our ac. All 5 companies came out and said it was beyond repair and need to be replace. All 5 also reported that our heat exchanger was cracked and our 21 year old furnace needed to be replaced too. After a week, we were then notified that US heating and cooling was contracted to come to our house to diagnose the problem. They reached out to us to schedule and we agreed upon a day and time. My husband explained that we already had a company that we wanted to install the new air conditioning unit, and we just needed the diagnosis and documentation to send to our home warranty company. The day he was supposed to come, the owner of the company called us and said he "lost a camera" he needed to do the job. It should be noted that we had already had 5 (FIVE!!) other competent companies in our house with in the past week who were able to diagnose and document the problem without a camera, as well as give us quotes. (And what legitimate company doesnt have a camera on their phone?). He cancelled through text message, and made 0 attempts to call us directly to reschedule. Waste of our entire Saturday. Frustrated, we reached out to our home warranty company. They told us that this guy called them and said that we wanted nothing to do with him, and only wanted a new air conditioner. When I called they guy to ask why the heck he lied to the home warrenty company, he was EXTREMELY rude, kept cutting me off, and said he "has the right to refuse service to anyone" (HA!). So despite the fact that this guy was CONTRACTED BY THE HOME WARRANTY COMPANY to diagnose the problem from the beginning, he chose to BLOW US OFF, and lie to both us and the warranty company because he wasn't going to be getting a huge check from us for a new AC and furnace. Incompetent, rude, and only after high dollar business. AVOID!"

I am a 1 man band home remodeler, plumber, and carpenter who moonlights as a handyman. My company is fully licensed and insured and comes with a complete list of glowing references. I have been in the business for almost 15 years and am a second generation contractor. I basically grew up with a wrench in one hand and a plunger in the other. My reputation is stellar and customer satisfaction is my number one priority. My work includes painting (interior and exterior), drywall (mudding, sanding, and taping), cabinet installation, tile floor installation, electrical work, most plumbing work (soldering pipes, shower, toilet, tub, sink piping, etc), minor HVAC work, countertop installation, replace/install doors (closet, bedroom, front entrances), wall removal and additions, carpet removal and installation, hard wood floor removal and installation, and hardwood floor refinishing/staining. I have done both commercial and residential jobs ranging from complete remodels of homes to touching up paint in a small walk-in closet. I rarely turn down jobs because if I can't do a job myself, I have an extensive network of colleagues who can. I will usually do the work myself, but for larger jobs I enlist a crew of qualified individuals who will help me complete the work quickly and efficiently. I generally only ask for 30% up front depending on the size of the job, and don't accept final payment until my customer is COMPLETELY SATISFIED with the work I have done unless major materials (stove, fridge, etc) are required. All of my work is accompanied by a 1 year warranty. Prior to beginning work, I provide a detailed quote in writing that is signed by myself and the customer so there is no confusion over what will be charged. My pricing is competitive and honest. My quotes are binding and there are no scams or hidden costs. While I live in Schaumburg, I regularly travel to the city and surrounding areas for work. I am not afraid of hard work or a challenge and am willing to work with you to help fix or create your dream home. This is not a side job for me, it is MY LIFE'S WORK. I take pride in what I do and feel that I was born to do it. Mostly, I love transforming something that is run down and old into something new and beautiful. Give me a chance to prove myself and I promise you will not be disappointed. I am available for work immediately. Lee Hess 1 Guy Fixes All Home Improvements 847-873-3396

WPK Appliance Service is one of the leading appliance repair services in the local area. Our appliance repair professionals have over 15 years of experience in the field, which makes us more than qualified to offer you precise, effective repairs to get your household whipped into shape right away.
"I read reviews here when our dishwasher was leaking. Josh at WPKAS got incredibly positive reviews. I called and he scheduled a time for the next day. He showed up within the two hour window indicated. He immediately set out to determine the issue and educate us about the machine. As it turned out we had some soap in the machine that created suds that kept the pump from being functioning properly with water collecting in the bottom of the machine. The filters also were clogged which he cleaned as he continued to talk with us about the how the machine works. He put a little olive in the washer to kill soap suds. He ran the machine through the cycle to be certain it had no leaks. He only charged for a service call since no parts were needed... We are very happy to have found a got to appliance repair service. Josh is exceptional. He is not part of big business or franchise and does not have a lot of overhead. His pricing is very fair."

If your refrigerator needs to be repaired, contact an appliance repair company to diagnose the issue and repair your refrigerator. It’s okay to leave it plugged in and running, but unplug it if it makes unusual noises.
Signs that your refrigerator may need repairs include:
Food items are not being held at the correct temperature (between 35 and 38 degrees Fahrenheit)
The fridge is using too much energy and seems to run all the time
Loud and/or unusual noises
Possible causes include:
A damaged door
Faulty condenser coil
Malfunctioning control board
Contacting an appliance repair professional as soon as possible can help save items in your fridge from spoiling. Common fridge repairs include the compressor, control board, thermostat, defrost motor, coils, and ice maker.
If you’re having problems with your dryer, contact an appliance repair professional as soon as possible to inspect and repair it. Having a faulty dryer can be a major inconvenience in the home.
Your dryer may need repairs if:
It isn’t turning on
It’s not releasing enough heat
The drum doesn’t spin
Common repairs include:
A damaged or worn-out belt or
Damaged or shorted electrical wiring
A control board malfunction
Dryers tend to overheat or become short-circuited over time, especially after heavy use. Other common dryer repairs include door switches, timers, and control boards.
If the unit is not under warranty, then you may want to call a reliable appliance repair technician to diagnose the issue and recommend a repair. Some of the most common washing machine issues are inadequate water supply to the unit, poor drainage due to clogging, leaks, and excessive vibration while washing. Like ovens, the cost to repair a washing machine will vary widely depending on which issue you’re experiencing.
The average cost to repair an appliance depends on the appliance, make, model, the part that needs repair, and how long it takes to replace or repair a part. The following are the average repair costs for the most common appliances:
Refrigerator: $200–$300
Freezer: $90–$500
Oven, cooktop, range: $100–$500
Microwave: $50–$400
Dishwasher: $160–$300
Garbage disposal: $70–$250
Washing machine: $50–$450
Dryer: $100–$400
Appliance repair contractors may charge $40 to $120 per hour for labor, and most also provide the replacement parts necessary at an additional cost. It’s also important to note that these prices can go up on holidays and emergency fees may apply if you need your appliance fixed immediately.
It's good to contact the manufacturer first to see if any warranties still exist, and if they have any specific repair persons they recommend. Some specialty units or smart units may require the assistance of a manufacturer-approved technician. Oven issues can be more challenging to diagnose than other appliances in the home because many of the parts are difficult to access for inspection or replacement. Some common oven repairs involve replacing damaged burners, heating coils, or electric cables. Purchasing additional parts, such as a new heating coil may also increase the total repair cost.
