"I had a wonderful experience with MidAmerica Basement Systems & highly recommend them if your having any waterproofing needs. My project: I purchased my home 3.5 years ago & it started getting water in the basement last year after the outside drainage & tiling system put in my previous owners failed miserably. It would literally be full days of pumping water out of multiple locations in my basement. There were issues of moisture even with two dehumidifiers running & subfloors the crew took out & cleaned up after as well. Scheduling: They will schedule a ways out for appointments but only because it's a high demand working system. Others may be able to offer services quicker but there is likely a reason they are not busy. I got several bids in the time I waited for my MidAmerica Basement Systems appointment & encourage you to as well but definitely wait until after your appointment to make a decision. They were not the cheapest but had the best guarantee (100%), best working system, and a few things I've learned in my 20 years of homeownership is if you go cheap & need to redo it your typically spending more than if you did it right the first time & your home is not something to skimp on or take chances. MidAmerica Basement Systems will send you detailed emails as to what you can expect for each appointment. They will mail you a packet of information regarding different systems that work vs fail & throughly explain the dangers & hazards water/moisture in your home will cause. Our basement got so bad from the Derecho the only dry place was in our basement was the shower & my celing developed black mold quickly from the moisture. Not only did they offer a system to waterproof my basement but a whole house dehumidifier & air purifier which would have saved my ceiling if I had earlier. Sales: I had Justin A for sales & he was very thorough in listening to my problems & needs as well as took his time in explaining & showing me how they could fix my issues, how the system works, as well as answering all of my questions with detail & no hurry. He was absolutely great about changes I made in adding work later on (before my appointment) as well. He doesn't make it feel like a sales pitch, is not pushy at all, & really works to get you the most work in your budget (prep & finish work offered), as well as taking his time with you through the entire process. The office crew: The office staff was very polite & helpful. I mostly worked with Desiree S & Kim B who are extremely responsive in working with me. The Crew: My crew consisted of Brandon T, Sam G, & Ethan T who I highly recommend! These young men are the exact type you want on your project! They are polite, respectful, hard working, efficient, trust worthy & have a great work ethic! They not only got the job done in the time allotted but left my basement incredibly clean which I didn't expect. They thoroughly go over the work before & after as well as answer any questions you have along the way & explain in detail any changes if something isn't to plan before just doing something differently. They called before heading to my house as well which I thought was very courteous. I imagine they have a lot of great workers but anyone I know that I send their way, I'll have them ask for these men as the crew on their home. Overall: Overall I give them 5 stars & they earned it all the way. I will say it's winter so not when one typically gets water in their basement so I am unable to review how the system works fairly. I do, however, plan to leave another review after we get some lovely wet Iowa spring weather or melting of our snow mountains to test it out. I don't expect my review to change & feel confident in the upcoming months & years. Thank you MidAmerica Basement Systems!"

A natural approach to carpet cleaning. By cleaning your carpets the chem-dry way, you can ensure a healthier home for your family. Chem-dry carpet cleaners use the natural®, a proprietary hot water cleaning solution that uses the power of carbonation to lift dirt to the surface where our powerful suction tools whisk away the dirt - leaving carpets clean, deep below the surface. Experts agree - the chem-dry system works hard to deep clean carpets without leaving dirt-attracting residues. In fact, the carpet & rug institute has awarded chem-dry's hot carbonating extraction process with its seal of approval. Through the power of carbonation chem-dry can increase the longevity of your carpet, and often can help keep your carpet warranty in compliance. Upholstery cleaning. Furniture, like the carpets in your home, receives a lot of attention, often in the form of dirty cloths and shedding animals. However, with chem-dry’s upholstery cleaning systems you can have your home looking, feeling and smelling as good as new. Chem-dry upholstery cleaning systems use hot carbonating extraction, which works to lift dirt for a deep clean that dries quickly. Ask your chem-dry professional about how to best care for your specific upholstery type. Specialty spot removal. Lipstick, permanent marker and juice stains are not uncommon, but are also not desirable additions to carpet and upholstery. Stains can be difficult to remove, but at chem-dry, we believe if our trained technicians can't remove a tough carpet or upholstery stain, no one can. Our carpet cleaning processes and solutions work to target and remove the stain. Ask your technician to evaluate your specific spots during your carpet cleaning appointment. Your technician can identify any difficult spots and offer solutions to improve the look of your carpets. Area rugs. Just like the carpet in your home, an area run needs professional cleaning. Our technicians can help you maximize the life of your area rugs with regular cleaning. Ask about our powerful protectant products, which are applied by a chem-dry technician and can help minimize the risk for stains between regular cleanings. Pet urine odor removal. Urine spots on carpet are a problem that is hard to resolve; however, at chem-dry, we have the ability to find odor causing spots around your home and remove them. First, our chem-dry technician will use a black light to identify stained areas, helping him/her to evaluate the size and scope of the odor-causing stain. Then, the technician will apply pet urine removal treatment to rid your home of the nasty odors that can permeate the house from these spots. Your house will smell fresh and the spot will be minimized. Carpet protectant. Protect your carpets from dirt and stains with Chem-Dry’s PowerGuard Protectant which is loaded with acid-dye resistors to provide excellent stain resistance and can be added by a Chem-Dry technician at the time of cleaning. The stain-guard that comes with your new carpets begins to wear away after only a few months of steady traffic. In order to keep your carpets from fighting spills and spots, Chem-Dry's PowerGuard Protectant can replace the spot-fighting power and help keep your carpets cleaner between routine professional cleaning appointments.

Water and smoke damage repairs FAQs

When you find water damage, your first order of business is to keep everyone on the property safe, so if you have standing water, evacuate if it’s safe. If possible, find the source of the water and stop it, which could mean shutting your water main to prevent pipe leaks. Next, you should notify your insurance company and immediately call a water damage restoration professional. They will work with you and your insurance company to create a solution to fix the issue and file an insurance claim for the cost of the damage.

The three methods or phases of water damage remediation are mitigation, remediation, and restoration. Mitigation is an emergency response that can include shutting off your water main or patching a hole in your roof from a fallen tree limb. Remediation includes drying the affected area, removing damaged materials, and dealing with any resulting mold growth. Restoration includes the build-back required to return your property to its previous condition. All three methods should be a part of any water damage remediation plan.

When hiring a water damage restoration company, you should confirm that the remediation plan includes fixing the underlying problem, dealing with resulting mold growth or rotted materials, and any making any build-back necessary to restore your property to its previous condition. Each phase of the remediation plan should include specific testing and inspection details to ensure the work is done properly and in a way that doesn’t prevent the restoration cost from being denied by your insurance provider.

If you find evidence of water damage in your home, your best option is to call a local water damage restoration company immediately. You could call a plumber first if you know that the issue is stemming from a plumbing pipe, but in many cases, a company that specifically handles water damage will be able to find the source of the damage and recommend a specific repair. Water damage restoration pros will also be able to develop a plan to remove any damaged material and restore your home to its previous condition.

The average water damage restoration cost is around $3,500, but it’s not uncommon to see prices fall between $450 and $15,000. Your project cost will depend on the extent of the damage, the source of the water, whether or not mold has grown in the affected area from the moisture, and the emergency level of your water problem. Keep in mind that your insurance company may cover some or all of your restoration expenses if your homeowner’s insurance policy covers the specific issue.
