It was a three-year/6000 hour program, which I completed in April 1987. My apprenticeship covered all aspects of the painting trade. I was trained and tested in the safe and proper usage of ladders, scaffolding, abrasive blasting (both sand and water), the proper application of paint coatings (epoxy, oil and latex), how to apply stains, lacquers and top coats. I was also trained how to tape and finish drywall as well as apply wallpaper and Faux Finishes. During the past 27 years, I have worked in every conceivable type of painting environment: from extremely high end homes to office space, retail stores, shopping malls, oil refineries and sewerage plants.
