+ 0 moreIt's a two-story house with a very steep pitched roof and fabric awnings, so it's not an easy job. They did a very thorough job and cleaned up afterward. I will definitely call them again next year. I know from experience they are excellent chimney sweeps as well. I highly recommend them for both services.

Description of Work: He cleaned my chimney that I use primarily and looked at the other chimney that we have not used for years and said it looked ok. I think the cleaning was ok but what I didn't like was his assessment of a suspected problem that I have with the chimney that gets all the use. I knew that I had smelled smoke in the adjoining room a few times when there was a roaring fire in the fire place and also knew that there are a couple of loose bricks in the back wall of that fire place as well. So I wanted to know what needed to be done to get this chimney in shape. He used a camera in the flue liner to show where the liner had not been put in appropriately (about 20 years ago) and that it did not connect completely to the fire box area. I appreciate that. He had a major problem with the close proximity of the fire place to the adjacent wall and I think mainly because of this, he would not even talk about any repairs. We have owned this home for over 28 years and have not set it on fire yet so it seems with the proper repairs we should be able to get this up and running in a safe way. I think he had no interest in doing any repair work so he started telling me about how nice some of the electric logs look these days etc. Due to liability concerns, I guess, he just wrote on the inspection "Should Not Be Used". So bottom line is he cleaned my chimney just fine but showed no interest in helping me solve my main problem here and that is the part I did not care for.

+ -1 moreWe called to get an appointment, and they were able to get us on their schedule for the following week. They arrived on time, and got straight to work. The job took less than an hour. They explained that our insert was old, but in good working order, and they gave us a list of things that we may need to improve in the future. They cleaned up after themselves, and were very professional and courteous. Our family will deffinately be using them in the futre. They did a great job!

+ 0 moreThey found that the flue was broken and they recommended that we didn't use it unless it was absolutely necessary because it would smoke. They never once pushed me to purchase anything. When I asked if they did that kind of work, they said they did. He left a little soot mark on the wall and he was much more upset about it than I was. I told him that I would clean it off and he said absolutely not, so he scrubbed the wall. He didn't leave any dust or debris. He cleaned up after himself. I was really pleased and I would use him again. I would absolutely use them again. I am saving the money to have the insert and chimney cap replaced.
Description of Work: I used The Lone Sweeper Chimney Sweep to inspect and clean the chimney. They went up on the roof and checked the chimney cap.
