They went beyond the call of duty. They spent over half a day here trying to figure out where the problem was coming from. They had to dig up the yard and did a great deal of work but the cost was definitely worth it.
Description of Work: The electricity went off and kept shorting out. Roman came out to check things out.

I was unhappy to find out that I would have to cover this company's gas prices. I thought this company was unprofessional when I spoke with them.
Description of Work: I called them and they told me they have a one hour minimum charge of $86 dollars, which includes the first 1/2 hour of service plus the trip charge. Even if the job takes 5 minutes, they still will charge for the hour. They charge $10 for gas.

WE EXPLAIN IN GREAT DETAIL WHAT OUR HOURLY RATES ARE. OUR POLICY IS A ONE HOUR MINIMUM WHICH INCLUDES THE 1/2 HOUR TRAVEL, AND AN ADDITIONAL $10.00 AS A FUEL CHARGE, WE ALSO OFFER A $10.00 COUPON TO HELP OFFSET THE COST. HOW CAN A "F" BE GIVEN FOR A TELEPHONE CALL? SEEMS A BIT UNFAIR WHEN WE NEVER DID ANY WORK.

I contacted three companies to get estimates for the work, Roman was one of them. They were priced the lowest out of the three. I should have received a formal estimate in the mail, but didn't. Nonetheless, I contacted them to book an electrician with 1 weeks advance notice. It seemed like they tried to sell me on a 5th recessed light, but I decided against it and the estimator did not pressure me once my choice was made. Fast forward to the day of my installation, the electrician arrived on time and was friendly. Roman was supposed to provide the light fixtures, but contract was incorrectly written and stated that I was to provide them. No worries though, he called back to the office and someone delivered the light fixtures in roughly 30 min. He started the job at 7:30am and was done by 2:00pm. He needed to do minimal demo, thus reducing the cost for drywall repairs. Satisfied!
Description of Work: I had Roman perform the following tasks in my client's kitchen: remove a central light fixture, install 4 recessed lights, and replace an above-sink light fixture.

They were very nice. In houses of our age theirs is two different kinds of wiring, they made sure that we had the correct type of wiring. Do not remember job cost.

The upgrade work went fine, but they left a message behind where they did any drilling, etc. This crew also did not appear very happy and tried to talk us out of getting some can lights installed (a future project). They over billed us by $780.00. The billing error did get corrected right away due to us making several phone calls. We have used them in the past with great results, but this crew has us looking at other electricians for future work.

THIS PROJECT WAS RESCHEDULED SEVERAL TIMES AT THE OWNERS REQUEST, WE HAD TO RESCHEDULE WE ENERGIES AND THE INSPECTOR EVERY TIME A REQUEST WAS MADE. AS FOR THE OVER-BILLING - THIS WAS AN OVER-SITE ON THE PAPERWORK, MR. KELLEY CONTACTED OUR OFFICE AND WAS GIVEN MY CELL PHONE NUMBER TO CONTACT ME AFTER HOURS SO THAT THE BILLING CORRECTION COULD BE MADE. WE APOLOGIZED, VOIDED THE CHECK AND RETURNED IT TO THE CUSTOMER VIA CERTIFIED MAIL. UPON DISCUSSING THE WORK WITH THE CREW THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE REASON FOR GOING OVER THE ADDITIONAL WORK WAS TO INFORM THE OWNER THAT DAMAGE OF WALLS/CEILING COULD OCCUR AT WHICH TIME THE OWNER DECLINED THE WORK.

Within a couple days of my calling, the rep came over on Feb 16th. After assessing the situation (no a regular shingle roof), he said he would have to research how to keep the heat coil attached to the roof. 10 days later, he called to say he was still researching the problem. On March 7th, 20 days later he called at 8:15 am to say they could do it for $1800. He said they would have to use roof tar to secure it and that it would have to be checked every year to make sure it was secure. He didn't offer any other information. Since I had another company also make an estimate and the other company submitted a written proposal, I knew what to ask. I had to ask because Mike wasn't offering any further explanation of the installation. Not the switch that would be needed or the downspout, etc. He spoke very fast going over things in a very cursory manner. No written proposal detailing the installation was submitted. Other company came in with a written proposal at half the price.
Description of Work: Install a heat coil on my tar and gravel roof and in the downspout to stop ice dams. ($1,800.00)

WE DID PROVIDE A WRITTEN PROPOSAL DETAILING THE HEAT CABLES, PILOT SWITCH AND DOWNSPOUT APPLICATION. WE HAVE INSTALLED MANY ROOF CABLES ON ROOFS AND DOWNSPOUTS. WE RESEARCHED TAR AND GRAVEL ROOF INSTALLATION WITH SEVERAL VENDORS AND ROOFING CONTRACTORS TO PROVIDE THE MOST ACCURATE AND CORRECT ESTIMATE. WE APOLOGIZE IF OUR RESEARCH TOOK LONGER THAN YOU EXPECTED. WE STRIVE FOR 100% CUSTOMER SATISFACTION ON ESTIMATES AND THE WORK WE PROVIDE.

Our oven stopped working a few days ago. Instead of calling the repair dept, we called Roman Electric. We'd seen a spark, then everything stopped working (oven, broiler, stovetop, clock, etc). Neither of us knows a thing about electrical matters, so although we checked the fuse box, we didn't notice that the breaker had flipped. Since your list rated Roman fairly high, I called them. I was immediately transferred to an electrician who understood what I was saying & said that although they were pretty much booked for the day, IF he could get someone out there the same day, he would. Less than an hour later, Curt called to say he'd be there in 30 minutes, and he was. My husband has a brain injury & doesn't comprehend or recall things, so Curt took the phone with him, as he tested things & explained everything very clearly to me (at work). Everything was working when he left. He could find nothing wrong, so he suggested we have the appliance checked for a short in the heating element.
Description of Work: Curt checked the socket, the wiring, the cord from the range, & the fuse box several times with different scenarios. He tested with no appliance plugged in, with it plugged in but not on, & with the range on.

HORRIBLE!! (Read ''work performed'' for my experience with company, but I DO NOT recommend this company and plan to write the BBB.)
Description of Work: I contacted this company to come over and replace some outlets and provide an estimate on possible future work (e.g., install of ceiling fan, replace lighting fixture, etc). I had to cancel the appointment, because of an injury, so I rescheduled the appointment for the next day, during the early afternoon. They called at 7:30 a.m. the following day, to say they were on their way and I told them that the appointment was for AFTER 1:00 p.m. He said okay. I got home at noon and waited, and waited, and waited. NOBODY CALLED, so I called and got their voice mail. I waited 10 minutes and called again, and got their voice mail. This pattern happened for the remainder of the afternoon. No one ever came over, and no one ever returned my phone call. It's now Monday afternoon, and NO ONE STILL HAD THE DECENCY TO RETURN MY MANY PHONE CALLS, TO APOLOGIZE FOR THE ERROR. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY, AND I QUESTION THEIR HIGH RATING.

He was professional, a hard worker, and he worked through lunch and would stay later to complete. There were a few problems we ran into, and they worked through them. They cleaned up the dirt when they were done and really did an excellent job. They had to come back for something else because our wire got fried because of the age of the house, and they fixed that. The outlet inside the wall was melted so they did the work for that. They would return calls and were very good. He was a perfectionist.

Roman's serviceman was punctual, friendly, and I appreciated an honest estimate from a company.
Description of Work: I was advised by a grout person that I needed to replace the exhaust fan in our shower. I called Roman Electric. When they came out, the very next day, the person informed me that he did not feel I needed to replace the fan, which was oversized and difficult to replace. He said that it was quite possible the tiles would be broken in attempting to retrofit another fan. When I asked him how much I owed for the consult, he said to forget about it.

I talked with Roman Electric about the job and getting an estimate. They requested a typed up list of things I wanted done. I faxed it over and then followed up via telephone. They said they would need to come on-site to do the estimate, despite agreeing to do the estimate via fax. I could only meet them after 6PM or on the weekends. They refused to meet after hours or on weekends for an estimate. I said this will cost them the job and they didn't care. I went with Dietrich Electric and they were great!

THE ELECTRICIAN ARRIVED LATER THAN SCHEDULED, BUT HE WORKED QUICKLY, CLEANED UP AFTER HIMSELF, AND DID A GREAT JOB (AND WAS QUITE PLEASANT).
