Description of Work: they did not follow contract. installed wrong circuit breaker because electrician new better. had to come back and switch it out. left a mess behind. made it difficult to schedule fixing his mistake.

We made a mistake with the order of parts for this job. This meant that we had to put in a temporary breaker until we could get the correct breaker. There was no danger with the temporary breaker and the owner was in a hurry to get the hot tub working. We had no knowledge that Mr [Member Name Removed] was unhappy with the scheduling and clean-up. It is not our practice or policy to have unsatisfied customers.

Description of Work: Randy was the name of the electrician that came to do the work in my home. He was on time and friendly. He replaced a ceiling light fixture, under the cabinet light and replaced a ceiling fan. If I have any future electrical work done I will call Best Electric Service again. Also a lady from their office called the day before to confirm the appointment, which is a service I always appreciate.

It was winter and I was without heat, the cause of which related to the inexperienced contractors who first tried to fix my furnace. The people at Best came into my home and evaluated the may violations left by the previous contractor and after conversation with them, decided the best solution to my furnace electrical problem was to upgrade my service. They gave me a proposal to fix those problems and upgrade my electrical to fuse box. They were very efficient, polite, professionals who fininshed the work quickly (in cold winter temps) and fixed my furnace problems. I also had them replace outlets in all rooms the the 3-promg grounded type (8 total). They did great work so I used them again later to upgrade my Mother's home the same way and I also used them in 2008 to move an electrical box so that I could put in a patio door in the back of my house. Great people. I don't call anyone else for my electrical work.
Description of Work: upgrade of electrical system, install surge protector, and correct the mess left from a previous contractor.

I was very pleased with this company. I would rather not comment on what I paid for their services however I will say that their rates are reasonable. The only thing they could improve upon would be labeling breaker systems a little better. Otherwise, I would give them a great recommendation.

The electrician who came to our house was really nice. It didn't take him very long at all to get the work done, less than a day. When he was done he showed me what they did and how to use the new breaker box.
Description of Work: They replaced some of the old wiring in our basement and switched us from a fuse box to a breaker box.

These people are big time price gougers. He quoted me an estimate of $325 for a job that others estimated at any where between $75 and $150. The company that I finally chose charged $110. What is up with that????

IT IS OUR POLICY TO QUOTE ALL THE COSTS OF A JOB UPFRONT. SINCE WE ARE A LICENSED ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR WE ARE BOUND BY LAW TO TAKE A PERMIT OUT FOR EACH PROJECT AND TO DO THE WORK ACCORDING TO CURRENT ELECTRICAL CODES. SINCE EVEN THE LEAST EXPENSIVE PERMIT IS $40.00 AND SOME COMMUNITIES RUN AS HIGH AS $80.00, WE CANNOT QUOTE RATES OF $110.00 FOR A FAN INSTALLATION. WE ARE ALSO REQUIRED TO MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL BOX THAT THE FAN IS ATTACHED TO IS CODE COMPLIANT. IF A BOX IN THE CEILING WAS ORIGINALLY INSTALLED FOR A LIGHT, IT IS NOT LEGAL TO ATTACH A FAN TO THAT BOX. THE BOX MUST BE REMOVED AND NEW CEILING FAN RATED BOX MUST BE INSTALLED. THIS PROCEDURE COULD TAKE MULTIPLE HOURS TO ACCOMPLISH DEPENDING UPON CEILING CONDITIONS AND STRUCTURAL ITEMS ABOVE THE CEILING. COUPLE THESE TWO FACTORS WITH THE NEED TO CHARGE A TRIP CHARGE TO COVER THE COSTS OF TRUCKS, INVENTORY AND TIME TO DRIVE TO A CUSTOMER AND A $325 TO $350.00 CHARGE IS A REASONABLE GUESS FOR A PHONE QUOTATION. SINCE WE WOULD DO THESE JOBS ON A TIME & MATERIAL BASIS, IF THE BOX WAS FAN RATED, AND IF THERE WAS AN EXISTING FAN (NOT A NEW INSTALLATION)WE WOULD FORGO THE PERMIT, AND IT WOULD TAKE ABOUT 15 MINUTES TO INSTALL A NEW FAN IF IT WERE ONE OF THE PRE-ASSEMBLED UNITS. OUR COST THEN WOULD HAVE BEEN AROUND $76.00. BUT IT IS A RARE CUSTOMER THAT HAS THE FAN RATED BOX ALREADY INSTALLED. WE ALSO BELIEVE THAT BRINGING THE JOB IN UNDER THE QUOTATION IS BETTER THAN ASKING THE CUSTOMER FOR MORE MONEY.
