DC Electric

Once I paid for a recessed light package through Angie's list, Dave called me within a day. From there, it took about 10 days before he had an opening to perform my service. We did go back and forth on dates a couple times, but that's expected when you are dealing with this type of service. Even so, this guy is worth the wait! I planned to add more than the package (it came with 5 lights), but I wasn't sure where to place them. When he arrived he looked at the area and had good ideas about where to put the lights. Dave was very careful, took his time, and even asked if there were any other electrical things he could help me with while at my house. What a great find! I would DEFINITELY hire DC Electric again.

Dave has done work for me before and has always been professional, honest and friendly. So when I needed some stuff done, I called him first. D.C. Electric is very busy. There is a reason for that...they are very good. They fit me in their schedule only a few days after I called and did all of my in-home electrical work in the first visit. The previous owner of my house was an idiot and left random switches around my basement and even buried a couple switches in a wall during a remodel. Also, he did not have switches close enough to entry ways and neglected to put in dimmers where they would have been the most effective. I was tempted to try and figure all of this out myself but with this much mystery, I felt it was best left to a professional. Dave showed up early and followed me around my house taking notes as to what I wanted. He was able to do everything I requested without me needing to be in the same room and he was done in about 1/2 the time I estimated it would take. He was even able to pull out and re-use two buried switches in a wall without leaving any drywall damage. He tested some random switches to find out what they did and covered those which were not needed or not functional. He installed 6 different dimmers throughout the house and even ordered a replacement puck light for a cabinet that I had not been able to find. The puck light had been mounted improperly by the same idiot previous owner and Dave hole drilled and set the light properly. He even dusted and windexed my shelves and counter around the cabinet. They came back a few days later to do a lot of work in my garage. I had two very inefficient sodium lights hanging from a very high ceiling. He removed them and installed two 4' hi-bay fluorescent fixtures. He also installed a third fixture over a specific workspace area in the garage. They then ran lines for four new outlets and installed a new breaker in my garage panel. The light in the garage is exponentially better and I am using a fraction of the electricity. D.C. is professional, prompt, reasonably priced...but most of all they are honest and friendly. Dave and his crew do the work right and they don't waste time or your money. They are very competent and work quickly saving you money but never do I get the feeling they are rushing a job. I am completely confident in the work they have done (this is the third time they have done work for me) and if I need an electrician, I will call D.C. Electric.

Dave and his guys did an excellent job. He promptly scheduled an appointment and performed the work without delay. His pricing is very fair and I plan to use him for all of our HOA needs in the future. I have gone through several electricians in the past few years and I am glad I found a reliable electrician who doe not try to gouge you for their services.

The workers arrived as scheduled, performed the work professionally, and cleaned up after they were finished. The workers were friendly and answered all questions asked of them.

We bought an Angie's List deal for 2 hours of electrical work and he did the 2 hours of work plus additional work after the 2 hours. We were able to schedule the work satisfactorily, but he was 30 minutes late arriving, and then had to leave before the job was done, but got 2 other workers in to finish what we needed done. They arrived before he left, so it was no problem. He did a good job testing our outlets, many of which were faulty, replacing them, and adding some new outlets in the basement. He had good suggestions for these projects, with ideas we hadn't thought of. We asked him to quote some additional work ideas we had and will use him in the future for at least one of those jobs.

The job went smoothly, according to plan, and surprisingly quickly, on the day of the installation. DC Electric made an initial visit, to see the space I needed new lighting, to understand my needs and to provide suggestions. The consultant was helpful in explaining what was possible, and what would be most practical, given my budget. On the day of the installation, the electrician who came needed very little guidance, worked very efficiently, and did the job exactly according to the plan. The lighting has been a major asset to me, as it made it possible for me to set up a home office in the basement. Everything DC Electric installed is still working without a problem. I found DC Electric to be very accommodating, knowledgeable, efficient, and professional. The work they did for me is quality work.

Mr. Carlson arrived on time and got right to work. The task at hand was not an easy one as I have an older home with decades of "creative" inside wiring and a fuse panel that was a rats nest of wires. He was very professional and knowledgable in explaining to me exactly what he would be doing. Be not only replaced the panel but also cleaned up the mess of wires and made it very clean in the new panel. He also re routed conduit to make it more efficient in how the wires ran and more visually appealing. I expected the service to be an all day job but by 2pm the panel was changed, the conduit connected, all circuits were live, and he even labeled the individual breakers for the furnace, water heater, ac, and all major appliances. I would recommend dc electric to anyone and if I could give an a++ rating I would. I myself will most definitely be using DC electric in the future.

The original light has a ballast that was not working. The cost of fixing that is too expensive, so they recommended bypassing that and use a bright fluorescent light instead. They also put in a new photo eye

He was responsive, punctual, flexible and innexpensive. I was really, really impressed.

The process went smoothly. I was told at the beginning approximately how long it would take and was informed of progress throughout the process. Dave completed the job in the time he estimated and at the cost he estimated. He was very courteous. He cleaned up the work area once the job was completed.

All went well. He offered a few solutions and let me chose the best for my situation. He did indicate there could have been a less expensive option using remotes for the fans, but I wanted the switch and hardwire to the main switch. Everything went well and I would use him for future electric needs should they come up in the future.

I have had a horrible experience with this company mainly Dave the owner. Lack of communication and not having the right insurance to pull a permit in Waukegan il. Has resulted in a lot of aggravation and serious delay in my electrical service upgrade. I have very reasonable demands,and also very understanding of unforeseen problems but DC electric has disappointed me totally. The last conversation I had with Dave about my project consisted of him telling me that " your really starting to p*** me off " and even though no work was done or permits pulled he was going to be billing me for updating his insurance in preparation for the job. So to make a long story unless you need a fan or light switch installed DC electric is not the right choice.

It turned out really well. I liked the guy that came out and I have used him for other things since then. They were very professional, on time, cleaned up and explained what they were doing.

Dave did did the estimate within 2 days of me contacting him. He was prompt in scheduling to have the work done. He was on time. He and his co-worker were efficient, clean (used booties), swept and vacuumed the basement and kitchen when the work was complete. The quality of the work was excellent. Everything works perfectly and looks great! He even fixed one of my basement doors that had come off of its hinges. . . I had kidded my sister that we should ask him to put the door back on its hinges. We weren't serious and didn't ask....... he just replaced the door without our even mentioning it. He did all the work that I requested - didn't forget anything on the work order. Kept us well informed in advance - that the electric would be off for part of the day. I would highly recommend Dave (D.E Electric to anyone. We are very happy with all aspects of doing business with Dave.

He never called or showed up on the day we changed it to.

He came in and rewired the house It was great and he was so efficient. He got there in one day and got it all done. We upgraded the breaker box from screw in fuses and the circuit breaker. He had two guys with him. He's very professional. I never even met him, I talked to him on the phone once to say what needed to get done, he met my handyman over at the house, he estimated it, he came back later and did the job. He did it within one day with a helper, he put up the wires, he did a new hundred amp service, 24 space, 100 amp main breaker panel, all its grounding, install couch lights out near the main doors, switch them as proposed, replied all labor materials and I thought the price was fair. He was really great and I would use him again.

It went fine. It well enough that I will consider using them for a future project.

Dave and his team at DC Electric helped me out with a small remodel project. I really needed some ideas and they came through and finished the work on time. I will have DC Electric out again in the Spring to install landscape lighting. Thank you Dave and the whole team at DC Electric!

Dave returned my call withing a few minutes and set up a time to meet me on a Saturday to get the work done. When Dave pulled up he had a professional clean van that was well marked and fully outfitted. That first impression proved to be accurrate when I met Dave and discussed the job with him. Then Dave got to work. Dave's work is meticulous, fast, and clean. He didn't waste any time, but he was quick to ask me questions and offer ideas if he wasn't sure of what I wanted. Dave is an excellent electrician, a very nice guy, and fairly priced for the quality of the work. I have already referred Dave and I will have him back soon to do a few more things at my home and business. I called two other local electricians, (before finding DC Electric), who were total letdowns... then I went to Angies List and found Dave at DC Elcectric... I'm so glad I made one more call and found my electrician!
