Description of Work: Repaired a crack in basement that had started to leak in the super heavy rains we have had this year. The materials and method of the repair were top of the line and explained very well, and they give a 25 year transferable warranty which was great as we were making the repair for the sale of our home. Friendly, professional, punctual.

Description of Work: We had flooding in the basement due to a strong storm and previous ground saturation. They removed the existing carpet and pad, and set up 4 commercial fans and a commercial dehumidifier, which ran for a week. Obviously, we wish we didn't need to use them, but they were prompt and thorough.

On 3/7 I was given an estimate for an exterior repair of a vertical foundation crack, but on 3/9 and 3/10, I had so much water come into my family room that I could not wait for the ground to thaw to do the exterior repair, that I had originally wanted. I called Tri-State again on 3/11 to discuss having an interior repair. I was told that an interior repair was as effective as an exterior repair. The salesman returned to my home with a new estimate the same day and work was scheduled to be completed asap. TriState was able to fit my job in on Friday the 15th and I have been dry ever since the repair. Justin did a great job and I really appreciated the quick response to my problem.

We originally met Kyle at the Home Products show in March, and talked to him about our problems. We made an appointment for the following week, and he showed up on time. He walked around the property with us to look at the cracks, and also examined the house on the inside to figure out the best plan. He worked up an estimate which he gave us that day, and was willing to give us a break because we offered to pay in cash. It took a while to get the repairs scheduled because we needed the ground to thaw. After a couple of rain delays, they came and did the work. The first day they filled in the window, then came back a couple of days later to do the foundation repair and put the carbon fiber over the block that filled in the window. They were very professional and gave us tips about what to do with the window well when we fill it in. Also, we needed a building permit for the window portion of the job, and Dana at their office was very helpful in sending me the needed info to get the permit. There was a slight glitch in scheduling the inspection after the project, but other than that everything went off without a hitch.
Description of Work: We have had problems with water leaking into our house from two foundation cracks, and through a basement window. They dug into the ground outside the crack, sealed the crack and then covered it with a carbon fiber material to keep out water. They also sealed up the basement window with concrete block and then put carbon fiber over that on the inside as added assurance. They did not take out the window well or fill in that area, that's up to us.

They did a really good job and the workers were great, but they left quite a mess. They left these rotten 2x4s in the laundry room that should have been taken out. We weren't quite prepared for the way it would look when they were done. What he explained to me was that they were going to jackhammer it out, but I didn't think it was going to come out like a foot and a half from the wall. We are happy with it, but there is going to be a lot of work for us to do afterwards.

Very thorough review of the basement, discussed options in depth and only received medium-low pressure to commit, which was a relief. Surprisingly there was no follow up call later to ask what we had decided.
Description of Work: Had them come out and give an estimate for our crawlspace and two areas near window wells that were leaking. They recommended a separate drain tile system for each, where another company said the window wells could simply be dug out again and likely not leak again for the next several years. Dug out the window wells and after the rainstorms we've had lately, not a drop to be seen in the basement. I don't doubt they're a good company, but it seems drain tile systems are their hammer, and everything looks like a nail.

We have been in this house for about 6 months and a large leak appeared on the basement floor after a pretty big rainstorm. We had the outside regraded, but the leak did not go away. We contacted Tri City and they said they could fix the leak by placing a large patch along the entire wall to the floor where the leak was coming from. This was done and a very quick, clean and easy procedure. After a few days it rained again, and i noticed a small seepage around the same area of the original leak and the new patch. I called Tri City and they came out again and extended the patch onto the floor a few inches. Their work is guaranteed for 25 years, so there were no questions asked and no subsequent charges. The experience overall was very good and I would use them again and recommend them to anyone.

Overall I'd give them a C- and would not recommend them. There are 2 main reasons for this. # 1 was the vapor lining job. The lining was to cover the dirt floor crawl space under an addition that was added on by the previous owners. However, the lining was installed over an uneven pile of dirt & rocks. Consequently in does not seal correctly. They have tried twice to correct this with tape but the problem remains. Stronger tape along with vacuuming up dirt where the tape is to go would likely solve the problem. Tape does not stick to dirt. Number two was dust. Contrary to their promise, they did not put a tarp over our belongs to help keep the dust off. Second they brought their dust machine after dust making work had already started. UPDATE: Since our complaints, Tri-State has bent-over-backwards to make us satisfied. There was some lack of communication problems between my husband and me and between us and Tri-State. My husband is presently unable to get to the basement or crawl into the crawlspace to check and approve their work. Once I come home and check, they are gone. Tri-State came back, pulled back the liner and graded the dirt smooth and redid the liner; even putting a double layer over the most problematic area. Due to my husband's present disability and this unusual circumstance which led to a lack of communication, I don't think this would happen again. I would recommend Tri-State for their services. The relatively small problem we had could happen with anyone, and they were glad to fix everything.
Description of Work: 1) company installed a vapor lining in the crawl space under part of the house (dirt floor) 2) installed on our north basement wall their waterproofing system 3) purchased a dehumidifier

Sales rep explained the products and services until I was satisifed that I understood the process. I was not there when the work was done. Thought the job was done incorrectly from the explaination given. Turns out an alteration was needed in the middle of the project. Work was correctly done. I would suggest that being present during the work would be prefered.

The estimate went very well. It seems that in Madison you have 2 choices ? Tri State or Badger. Badger has an excellent reputation in my neighborhood, but I wanted to see what another company might bring to the table. Tri State arrived at the time they said they would, offered the same lifetime warranty that Badger offers, but uses a different product than Badger does. After the estimate came in (about 20% less than Badger), I researched the different materials and processes that each company uses. It appears that each has its ups and downs, and neither is definitively better than the other. My research led me to believe that what you choose is all personal preference. In the end, I settled on Badger due to their company history. I had a terrible experience with Birch Environmental (John Dahms) ? DO NOT USE BIRCH FOR ANY SERVICES ? and still had the bad taste in my mouth of a company that doesn't honor their contracts, so I opted for the company that seems sure to not go out of business anytime soon. While I chose Badger, I would actually give Tri State a try if given the second chance. Badger estimated 3 days to do the work, and completed it in 2 ? which leads me to believe that they either overcharged me, or hurried work to finish sooner than they needed to. The work was not done properly, so they had to return a second time, and their attitude about the whole thing just didn't seem right. Their reputation in my neighborhood does not seem well earned. But back to Tri State ? prompt, reasonable, respectful. The only thing I did not like is that they know Badger is their #1 competitor, and they spend a fair amount of their sales pitch trying to discredit Badger's system. I want to know why the Tri State system is better, not why Badger's is worse. In my mind (and I am a marketing professional), that's a big difference.

A representative came out and gave an estimate, which took him about 40 minutes. He gave several options and told me the pluses and minuses of each. A couple weeks later we had the work performed, which took about 1/2 a day. The person performing the work was nice and cleaned up. There is a 25 year (I think that's the right number but don't remember for sure) guarantee that we won't have that crack leak, or they will come and repair it at no cost.

There were some surprises about what was there in my house and they have been working on it. They are pretty much the same like other in price but they are still very expensive.

We decided not to do it as it is not as visible as other things that we can do to our house that we are selling soon. They were wonderful and fabulous. They spent tons of time with us. They measured carefully. They explained everything and were here for 2 hours. Others that came said there was mold in the corner and to put bleach on it. He tried to find if the foundation was cracked. I was super impressed. He was polite, thoughtful and considerate. It was amazing. He did everything we asked him to do. They were thorough. He got the estimate out quickly to us.

We didn't end up using them. They were very cheerful and put booties on so they wouldn't track in any dirt even though the house is lived in so they didn't need to be so careful. They did arrive a little late but they did call. We didn't go with them mostly because of the scheduling. We are trying to list our house by the end of the month and they weren't able to schedule us until the end of September.
