First there were a couple of delays due to COVID, the weather, and a truck broke down. The window guys were over 2 hours late. While excavating near the house, the workers “accidentally” broke our water main. This of course was our fault and cost us an additional $3000! Read your contract. There is a small clause about accidents not being their fault. Subsequently, we had no water for two days and a large plumbing bill from a plumber they sent. This may not be over.
Description of Work: A window was put in our basement and pilers to prevent our 120+ year home from sinking.

I had them install an egress window mid-July. I was pretty happy with the window. Late August we had the major rains and the window held up great. Unfortunately, the dirt they back filled sunk 1.5 feet down around the entire perimeter 2-3 feet out. This was not a complaint for me, it happens with back fill. What was a problem was that I sent dozens of texts and phone calls to empty promises to bring me more dirt for almost 2 months. Then suddenly they tell me they won't bring the dirt since they considered this "landscaping" which was not included in the contract, without even coming to see the extent of the issue. This was a backfill problem, NOT landscaping. They FINALLY conceded to bring dirt, but complained they'd have to rent equipment to get to the backyard. At this point I just said put it in my driveway and I'd move it. So, this past Saturday, I (at almost 50 years old) spent 5 hours moving a huge pile of dirt instead of the people with young men and machinery that I paid $6,000 to do the work. On top of that, they dumped the dirt across the entire front of my garage instead of to the side (2 car driveway), trapping my car in the garage until I finished moving the dirt. So, either they were being massive jerks about it, or just incredibly stupid.

Paid about $13,000 in 2011 for full basement waterproofing. Shortly thereafter basement was finished. In Spring 2017 basement flooded, even though sump pumps working frequently. Tri-State denied responsibility until I produced the original warranty which clearly stated so. Their crew nearly destroyed our finished basement, throwing concrete, rocks and dust everywhere. We paid several hundred dollars to repair the damage Tri-State's repair had caused.

Overall fine, we don't have a leaky basement anymore. They were a bit evasive when we contacted them a few days after the installation when we saw a leak at the end of the drain tile. Once the project manager took a look at the issue they fixed it promptly. They had to repair a portion of the drain tile because they did not install sufficient gravel around the end of the drain tile.

Fred was very helpful and honest! He pointed out a few inexpensive changes that we could make ourselves before having them do anything too costly. This included replacing the brick pavers in our egress window with gravel and installing an egress window cover. He did not try to push any un-needed services on us. Tri State will definitely be the first place we call with any future basement issues based on this experience.
Description of Work: We had some water get into our finished basement near the egress window. We called Tri State Basement Repair to have them take a look and recommend a fix.

We met with the estimator/salesman Kevin who inspected the entire area, performed measurements and then reviewed the cost proposal in detail with us. He was very knowledgeable and thorough, explaining the process in layman's terms so we had a good understanding of what was needed and why. It was nice to get an idea of the cost right away instead of waiting days/weeks for an estimate. We secured estimates from other contractors and we decided on Tri-State due to the overall cost, professionalism and good reviews/references. Tri-State was able to schedule the job within a couple weeks. They provided us great preparation information so our basement would be ready for them to begin the work without delay. The crew worked over a two day period, keeping dust/mess to a minimum. All team members were professional and worked hard during the process. Clean up of the basement, staircase and outside area was excellent and additional instructions were given to us upon their departure. We have had several good rainfalls since installation and have had no water seepage/dampness. Will edit the review accordingly to let members know how the system worked after a wet spring.
Description of Work: Due to seepage through cracks in the floor and along foundation perimeter during heavy rains, we wanted the basement waterproofed. PVC drain tile system was installed over the majority of the basement perimeter. Included was a ¾ HP sump pump, and we also requested a battery back-up at an extra charge.

The sales rep came out and gave me full information on the worst case scenario ($5000, complete drain system in basement) as well as other options. He was very knowledgeable and didn't give me the hard sell, but he also told me it was best to wait until spring thaw and rains to see what the extent of the leak was.

Kyle came over and walked around, reviewing the issues and explaining options to getting the water out of the basement. His recommendation was to install a sump pump, and set up a system to pump the water out of the house. He mentioned installing additional drainage options around the window well of the leaky window. I asked about the wall in the garage that was creating the majority of the problem--how would they repair it. He mentioned a few options and stated that he needed to discuss the situation with his team and would get back to me. Took photos and measurements. Was here about an hour documenting all the issues. A week later Kyle came back with recommendations from the team. There was no mention of repairing the damaged foundation wall. I used another company that rebuilt the wall with cinder blocks and concrete, and sealed up the leaky window. No leaks. No need for a sump pump system. If you need a sump pump system, I think this company would do an excellent job. Very detail oriented.

Hi (removed member name), I'm deeply sorry to hear that you didn't have the experience and knowledge given to you that you asked for. This is highly uncharacteristic of Kyle, as we pride ourselves in giving our customer's exactly what they are asking for, and give a series of options depending on the amount of money that can be allocated as well as time and overall achievement of that basement, ie, just getting the water out or as far as finishing the basement and making sure water can't get in and ruin any future finishings. If our services are ever needed in the future, please know this was a one time experience that we guarantee will not happen again. Thank you.

The foundation inspector, Fred, was extremely professional. He explained our drainage issues and gave us possible solutions for all of them even though not all of them were provided by Tri-State (such as landscaping). We selected their crack repair services and the repair was scheduled quickly. The crack repair work was done on schedule for the quoted price. The overall work was high quality, but the remaining cleanup was more than we had expected. In all fairness to Tri-State the basement floor was wet concrete and drywall had been torn down, so the dust caked and had to be scraped up. In the month since the repair we have had numerous severe thunderstorms which would have in the past left the basement flooded, but have experienced no problems.

The person who came to our home was very respectful, courteous and prompt. He provided an estimate and suggestion of how to deal with the problem. We had water coming into the basement through a crack in the foundation. The estimate was to place a drain tile system along one wall of the basement and put in a sump pump to remove the water coming into the basement. This was the suggested solution from 2 of 3 providers. We chose the 3rd provided who agreed with us that it was reasonable to just fix the crack in the foundation wall.

They did an excellent job. We used them before to repair a larger crack elsewhere and install I-beams to support a wall that was leaning. They also did an excellent job installing an egress window into a basement room that we wanted to use for a bedroom. They are very nice and easy to work with. When we can afford it, we would like to install a door from our basement into our backyard. We will have Tri-State do the job.
Description of Work: Installed drainage system at bottom of basement walls and installed sump pump. Repaired cracks in basement wall, and lined walls with material so that any drainage goes into drainage system and pump. Installed drains in window wells. Also dug out wells outside and put in gravel.

[name removed] I am sorry to hear about your continuing water problems. Please know that you can call our office and ask any questions or discuss issues with your installed system during business hours at 877-493-8349. I see that we installed a 20 ft. partial perimeter system in September of 2011. If you are experiencing problems in the area that our draintile system has been installed, we will gladly send someone out to check the system for failures. However, if water is entering your basement in an area that we have not installed draintile, it could be that hydro-static pressure is causing more issues. Also, if you would like us to stop out and fix the underground discharge line we can coordinate a time to do so. As for the issue of clean-up, I am very sorry that our crew did not clean up to your satisfaction. Please know that if you had called our office to express your dissatisfaction we would have gladly sent out crew members to ensure the basement was cleaned up for you. It seems most of your dissatisfaction could have been avoided if direct communication with the office or Foreman would have occurred. Although a customer should be completely satisfied with the clean up before our crew leaves, we do need proper communication if there is dissatisfaction so we can be sure to remedy the situation as soon as possible. Our goal as a company is to provide superior products and service at affordable prices. Once again, I'm sorry to hear we did not leave you 100% satisfied, however even 3 years later, we would love the opportunity to help make things right. Our office staff will try to contact you on the number we have on file to discuss stopping out to fix the discharge line and be sure the system is in working order. Thank you, Tri State Basement Repair

A representative came out to give me a quote within a day or two or my first contact. He evaluated the situation, gave me a quote, which I accepted on the spot. The next day I got a call scheduling the work--it was more than a month out, but that was OK because the work wasn't urgent.
