Stamped Concrete for a patio
Description of Work: We wanted to have our current patio with pavers replaced with a stamped concrete patio. We also wanted to have a 2 foot brick wall removed which surrounded the periphery of the patio. We asked for estimates for a new concrete surface with and without an estimate for removal of the brick wall. A separate masonry company provided us with an estimate for removal of the wall but could not do the work until much later in the year. Instead of providing any estimate at all, after a couple weeks of waiting, I was simply told “we do not remove brick walls”. Dealing with this company was a complete waste of my time.

Once they have fixed it, the driveway looks fine. It took some time for them to get back out here. It now looks great.
Description of Work: They poured the driveway and garage floor in October of 2010. Half of the driveway became damaged within 5 months. They came out this summer and replaced the half of the driveway that was damaged for no charge.

After calling the office, Jeff came out promptly and gave me a thorough, professional and very competitive proposal. Brian called the day before the work was to be performed to confirm scheduling. Brian and the crew showed up early the day of the job with lots of guys and a lot of high quality equipment. The old concrete was removed quickly, job was setup, and the end result is absolutely outstanding. Jeff stopped by the job to ensure everything was going as planned. After the job was completed, Jeff stopped back again to ensure I was satisfied and I am 100% satisfied. Beautiful work. The crew cleaned up when done and except for my new concrete, no one would know they were there. I plan to use JBS again in the spring for a patio and other cement work

I would definitely consider JBS Construction to do any concrete repairs or replacement at my home.
Description of Work: I requested a free quote from JBS Construction via their website. I received a call the same afternoon and made an appointment for the very next day (Saturday). The gentleman showed up a little early ... which was nice ... and took the time to look over the cement drive that needed repair. He explained everything to me and was in no way condescending ... which being a woman, I come across quite often. He was very pleasant and professional. He gave me a written quote and a copy of their warranty along with this business card before leaving. I would definitely consider JBS Construction when I decided to repair/replace my cement drive.

The two people from JBS Construction that came out and gave me a quote, were very nice, very professional. I think I may, if their quote is still as good and that next Spring, I will go with them. The two guys that came out were very informative. They told me about permits because the two slabs next to the road, that they were part of the city - I needed city approval. They were all of them very good.
Description of Work: There were three of them that I looked up. Out of the three, two of them got back to me. But I decided I'm going to hold off until next year. JBS gave me a quote. It was going to be just for pieces of my driveway, but after talking to these guys I think I'm going wind up doing the whole driveway.
I received several quotes to remove and replace my driveway, sidewalk, patio, and garage floor. JBS Construction was not the highest or lowest of the quotes I received. However, the reason I chose them was partially because of the comments and their rating on Angie's List. But the main reason I chose them was because I looked at the work they had done on several other driveways, based on the references they gave me after I asked for some references. One homeowner told me that JBS did some work for them a couple years ago and they were so impressed with them that they had them come back to do some additional work this year. I wanted to see some of their work from 4+ years ago. The references I was given were all from work done within the past 2 years. However, one of the homeowners I talked to told me that their neighbor's driveway was put in by JBS and was done more than 2 years ago. That person called their neighbor and I was invited over to talk with that person. Their driveway was put in 6 years ago and still looks perfect. That's what sold me on JBS Construction. My experience with them was great. Jeff was very professional when he gave me the quote. They were on time to start the project and continuously worked until it was completed. The entire team are extremely hard working guys. I have already had several compliments on their work and would not hesitate to recommend them.
Description of Work: I had a driveway, sidewalk, patio, and garage floor removed and replaced.
Very well done except for when the back patio (regular concrete) was poured some of the stamped concrete mix was still in the mixer so I have some inconsistent staining from the color on the patio.
Description of Work: Regular concrete poured for a porch and stamped concrete for a front walkway and steps.

Things started better than they ended with JBS Construction. We selected JBS Construction after numerous estimates from various companies based on price, professionalism and previous Angie's List reviews. Jeff met with us and discussed all of the options he and his company could provide and offered suggestions and input when asked for his professional opinion. We made of initial down payment of $2000.00 on 3/30. Work began approximately 3 weeks later and the first few days of work went off without a hitch. Jeff and his crew arrived early in the morning and began ripping up the old brick patio and sidewalk and attacked the front stoop as well. Everything was removed on the first day and the foundations were framed. The second day, the front stoop was poured. Our home has a farmer like porch appearance and decorative support beams that hang from the overhang. Rather than removed the beams, JBS Construction decided to work around them, which would have been fine had they not smeared concrete all over them and failed to clean them properly. To this day the beam they left to dangle rather than remove is covered in concrete finger smears, evidence of a feeble attempt at wiping the concrete away. The third day the patio and sidewalk were poured and stamped. At the end of the day, Jeff came to the front door and reported that they all that was left was the for the sealant to applied. Jeff asked that the remaining balance be paid that day, since rain was expected the following day that would have prevented the sealant from being applied. Jeff made numerous assurances that everything would be cleaned up, fences would be put back together and that the house would look as good as new. Since we would be at work on the new projected sealant application date, we trusted Jeff's assurances agreed to pay the remaining balance of over $11,000. BIG MISTAKE. The sealant was in fact applied as scheduled , however the assurances that things would be cleaned up were FAR from fulfilled. Our siding, glass sliding door and frame and any and all windows and their exterior frames in the general vicinity of the concrete patio were left covered in red concrete stamping dye dust and worker hand prints, the fence on the front stoop was left dismantled and laying on the front porch, concrete rubble was left scattered in areas on the front porch where no work was completed, half eaten apples and apple cores were left strewn about next to the newly installed front walkway, empty water bottles were left in the grass of the backyard, and as previously mentioned concrete smears were left all over the bottom decorative front porch pole. After spending over $13,000.00 we were less than happy with this complete lack of professionalism and called Jeff to voice our displeasure and expressed the fact that it appeared that after the check was collected he and his crew seemed less than motivated to complete the job with the same zest and professionalism that they started the job with. During the course of the phone call I asked that Jeff send us an itemized receipt of all the work that was completed. Jeff agreed and stated that it would arrive in 2-3 days via US Mail. Jeff stated that he was in the middle of other jobs( I reminded him that he was yet done with this job) and would send someone out to attach the fence and clean up the concrete and offered to deliver 8 yards of topsoil as consolation for the way things were left. Jeff promised to have the topsoil delivered on a Friday morning between 7-9am. At 11:00 that day, I called and spoke with Jeff who stated once again that they were in the middle of another job and wouldn't have the topsoil there until 1:pm that same day. Fast forward to 4:30pm, still no topsoil or word from JBS Construction. Again, we telephoned Jeff and reached only his voice mail, this time we stated that we no longer wanted the soil delivered that day because we would have no time to spread it before the scheduled rain the following day. We left our residence fully expecting that JBS would comply with our final request NOT to deliver the topsoil. We returned at 10:00 pm the Friday evening greeted by 8 yards of topsoil dumped in our driveway. It rained the entire following day. Topsoil+Rain = Mud. The "itemized receipt" arrived that same day with NOTHING Itemized. Only a total bill over $13,000.00 with stamped PAID in red ink. We have zero idea what materials were used or cost versus labor. Another request for an itemized receipt was made via voice mail to the main JBS Construction phone number and subsequently ignored. The patio and sidewalk look decent and we have zero issue with the quality of work completed by JBS Construction, however the professionalism, attention to detail, cleanup, and follow-up were simply unacceptable. The pole remains covered in smeared concrete. No attempt to clean or replace that pole was made from any representative of JBS Construction. If you are considering JBS Construction, at the very least demand an itemized work order up front, never pay until ALL work is completed and your home is how they found it . But better yet, try your luck and spend your money with a different company all together!
Description of Work: 1. 18x24 brick patio removed--- replaced with stamped concrete patio 18x50feet2. 4x34 front stone walkway removed--replaced with stamped concrete walkway 5x343. Two Concrete sections of front stoop removed and replaced. One step removed and replaced as well.

JBS was excellent to work with from the minute I contacted them via email. I received a call back immediately and had an estimate scheduled. They were on time for all appointments and called to clarify/confirm the schedules as the project was in process. They had great ideas on how to replace the walks and eliminate another that was unnecessary. Everybody I had contact with was very professional and helpful. After receiving several estimates, JBS was the clear winner for my business. The concrete was poured today and it is fabulous. I have already recommended them and would use them again in a minute!

From quote to finish, JBS exceeded expectations. They showed up on time and completed the entire job in an afternoon. When they showed up, I requested a few changes to the initial plan, and they didn't have any issues adjusting. The entire crew was very professional and finished the job much more quickly than I had anticipated. The patio looks great, and II would absolutely use JBS again. Cost was competitive and quality looks great.

They dug out our existing 2 1/2 car garage floor, poured new floor and applied finish. A large crew came and removed old garage floor, sidewalk and patio in one day. All debris was removed. The areas were prepared for concrete installation, which was done as soon as weather permitted (we were in a rainy period). Once the concrete patio floor had cured, the sitting wall around the patio was installed. The project greatly inhanced the exterior appearance of the home, which was being readied for sale. The patio is now an attractive area and, together with the replaced walkway and garage floor, has generated great feedback from prospective buyers.
Description of Work: Ripped out and replaced 2-car garage floor, front walk, one step and capped existing stoop. Removed patio blocks and retaining wall. Poured new concrete patio and installed sitting wall around patio. Graded and distributed soil from side of home where a retaining wall was removed by owner.

They had pretty good reviews than others. Their price was higher than everybody else. They were pretty short in everything. I don’t think they were professional. They didn’t explain much. Everyone else, whom I spoke to, explained everything in details. They really didn’t take the time to explain everything. It seemed that they really want the job. They were there for only ten minutes. They were fifteen minutes late. I wouldn’t consider contacting them in the future.

. They did a couple of city variances with our building, they had to dig out the hill and hollow in the concrete block. They had to do two retaining walls because of the city code which was four feet high so we have got a stair step retaining wall. They included stairs within the wall it is a 92 ft. erection. So we have two 94 ft. erection walls. These guys were professional. They cleaned up after themselves. There offered the service of grading the yard. But it was at an additional charge. We needed some concrete work done where they needed to pour stoop and they did that. They were very efficient. They were here when they told us they would be here. It was a very good experience. Their work was meticulous. They really work on design. We spoke with a couple different people and how it was going to happen and they were accurate in telling us the timing. . They were punctual. They were very helpful in giving the project the finish in terms of the finishing work like the nooks and preceding them with grass. I would use this company in the future.

The workers were fantastic! (At first, I wasn't sure about this company because the salesman showed up at my house 5 minutes early and didn't wait for me...I was there 5 minutes later...instead, he went to lunch.) In their bid, they stated that they would perform the work in July and they actually did the work in July! They came on a Friday afternoon as they said they would when they called the day or two before. About 6 men came with all their equipment and were able to strip out the old driveway, re-grade the area and framed it for pouring cement on Monday morning. They worked very hard and efficiently. They also went above and beyond their duties. The reason that I was having the work done was that water was running towards the house. When they removed the old cement by the house, some of the wood under the threshold was rotting. One of the owners, Brian, told me the exact amount of treated lumber or boards to get, caulk and foam sealant. I went and got it and he fixed the area for me! They came before 7am on Monday and had the job completed by noon. It looks beautiful! They cleaned up the area both days and did an amazing job. I was extremely pleased with this crew...I can't say enough.

I got 6 quotes from concrete contractors, to do this job including two contractors from Angies list. All of the contractors were willing to pour the driveway, but the patio needed a retaining wall to be built. Five of the six contractors were willing to pour the patio, but the building of the retaining wall would have been my responsibility. JBS Construction does both Landscaping and Concrete, so they quoted me the price for doing the complete job. JBS came highly recommended to me from a friend, they did a large job for. The price they quoted for my driveway and drive approach was the second lowest out of the six contractors. They also quoted me a good price for the patio, which included the building of the retaining wall and hauling stone and concrete in a wheel barrel the 60 feet to get to the back yard. They put in 10 to 12 hour days and completed the job in 3 days. They cleaned up after themselves. The crew was friendly and ready to answer any questions. I grade JBS with an A+.
Description of Work: Poured driveway approach, large driveway and large patio on newly constructed home. The patio required a large retaining wall to be constructed.
