JBS Construction

I understand companies being busy and I understand companies not wanting to work on smaller jobs, however what this company does not know is I'm looking for a good contractor, one who will put in the time on some of the smaller jobs because in the end I'm looking for someone to do my driveway, which on the low end will be about a $10,000 job. I'm sure losing my business will not hurt this company in the least, and I'm sure this gentlemen felt like he was just being honest about the company being busy and not having the time, but then they should stop scheduling estimates with people. What a waste of my time, when I could have scheduled someone who would have taken the time and given me an estimate. I got the feeling the job was too small to be worth the company's time. But one thing that won't happen is when I am ready for the large project of doing my driveway, JBS will not be a company I call for an estimate.

We obtained quotes from various vendors to create a stamped and colored concrete patio in our very small backyard in Bay View. The quotes we received were very similar but we decided to go with JBS construction. As with any big job that costs lots of money we had lots of questions which they always answered with a quick response. We even asked them to come to our home a second time to ask these questions and they were very prompt and willing to assist us in any way possible. We signed the contract and we will be having our patio done this spring/early summer. I will write more later on the final outcome, which I'm sure will be wonderful!

JBS was very professional and good to work with. Jeff came out to estimate the work and he was very knowledgeable. Brian ran the crew and was a pleasure to deal with. They kept us informed as to when they would start, and what would be done. They were patient with us when we had them adjust the curves on the new walkway working with us to make sure we were satisfied. Overall they did an excellent job and I would recommend them highly.

We couldn't believe it. The entire drive and garage floor was removed and re-poured with concrete in one day. The replacement is beautiful and we are extremely satisfied. Everything was absolutely clean when the work was finished.

We had excavation done to level the area to be poured, gravel was put down, slab was poured same day. It was tough to get behind the house with heavy equipment but JBS had the right tools for the job and it really was a great experience.

Working with Brian and his team was a pleasure. The work crew's attention to detail throughout the whole process resulted in a quality job. Whenever I had any questions or comments, they were listened to attentively and any concerns were addressed immediately. They did everything they said they would do, and then some...right down to raking debris out of the lawn during cleanup. I couldn't be more pleased and would recommend them unconditionally to anyone.

They were very easy to work with. On time for estimate. On time for work. The workers never wasted any time. They even worked in the rain. Very friendly and professional. They made some last minute changes that we wanted. Worked with us with no problems. Job looks beautiful. Everyone that sees the job tells us how nice it looks. GREAT COMPANY.

I ended up not using them because their estimate was much too expensive.

Everything went extremely well. The crew was on time and finished the job quickly. The clean up afterward was great. They came back this morning with dirt and grass seed to finish building up the area around the laid concrete as promised. We would definitely recommend JBS to anyone and would use them again for future projects.

Their quote was reasonable and we’re just waiting for the work to be done. We looked at all of the online reviews and although they were not the least expensive, we just liked the way that they handled the quote. They quoted us roughly $6500. The overall experience with the quote process was very good; otherwise we wouldn’t have taken them. Their responsiveness was excellent.

The team was able to come and work four weeks before the scheduled work date which was great for us.They laid wood planks down to protect our grass as they had to haul equipment, concrete from the road in front of our house. The work team was always working on some part of the project....I never saw anyone just standing around doing nothing. The team was polite and friendly to me when I would speak to them. They did a good job of cleaning up my yard when they were finished. Before the day of the pouring of the concrete, I was impressed by the main supervisor of the job, who answered my firts telephone message in a timely manner. He came to measure out for the patio two days after we talked on the phone, made suggestions on how to shape the patio, and was here the day of the pouring. My husband and I were very pleased with JBS's manner of responding to our questions, their behavior on the job, and the clean up the team did when finished. We would contact them again for any future concrete work.

Outstanding. JBS Construction operates in the most professional manner possible. They were contacted to provide a quote and Jeff schedule a time, walked the driveway, and was able to deliver a quote to me on the spot. I've rarely seen this with any contractors so the timeliness of the quote was great. They provided us with a contact, broken out in two parts, which suited out needs since this job was for a shared driveway with the next door neighbor. We decided to use JBS Construction over the other companies we received quotes from and I'm glad we did. JBS showed up as planned on the day we were scheduled. They had pre-approval from us to start as soon as they got there and they were already done with the tear out and the installation of forms by the time I arrived at 11:30 AM. They had a crew of at least six and it may have been closer to 10. These guys were all working hard together in harmony and the process went smoothly as I watched. When I returned at 5:00 PM they were just finishing up and starting to pack up for the day. They did an amazing job at cleaning up and even swept the street clean. The driveway looked so good that a neighbor, who I don't know, stopped by and asked for the Job Site Manager. He asked Jeff to walk with him a block away and give him a quote on his driveway. This speaks to the quality of the work that was performed. Also, Jeff is very knowledgeable about the process and every aspect of the concrete business. He provided a lot of insight into the swale, the pitch, and other aspects of the driveway. Please note that we did have one concern/issue with the driveway but it was an error in understanding on our part. Since this was a shared "double" driveway they needed to pour at the same time but they sealed at different times and they needed two trucks to do the pouring. This caused our side of the driveway to be curing at a different rate and look gray while the other side looked white. Jeff assured me that it would be fine and our side would catch up to the other side. We are now a couple of weeks later and they both look comparable although not exact. Jeff was right on with his prediction. Finally, they did such a good job that we are having them put in our driveway at a new house we just built this year. We would highly recommend JBS Construction for any job you have.

Poorly. Nobody showed up. When I called the next day it appears that the estimator had cancelled our appointment with his office but they forgot to tell me. I waited but nobody showed up and I never got a call. To be fair, the office person sadi that it was entirely her fault and that she felt terrible. I am getting other bids from other providers.

They were great! They were professional and punctual. The job was done just like I expected to be done. They got the whole team with them and they were in and out. They came in and they took a couple of hours the first day to prepare it and came back a couple of days later to point the concrete. It was very efficiently done.

The project went very well. We have hated our current driveway for years - It had a 45 degree bend in it, it was cracking all over the place, there was a huge gap between the garage floor and the driveway, and our shocks took a beating every time we had to back out over the curb to get to the road. The crew showed up when they said they would and finished the job in a timely manner. No cost overruns and the quality of the installation seems very good. The driveway is now level with the garage floor and we had a curb cutout done so that we don't have to back out over the curb. I would highly recommend this company for projects like ours. Thanks! It went very well. They arrived on time (actually early) - they got here at 6:50 a.m., time told arriving was 7:00 a.m. that was very professional and I like that in a company, it shows their professionalism. They cleaned up everything and even took some rocks that we needed taken away so they could use them for future concrete. They work very well together and got the job done quickly but with great quality. They started in the morning about 7:00 a.m. and when I asked them how long the big job would take them Brian said until about 3:30 p m. he was correct right on the dot, now that is a professional!!!! I would highly recommend them for anybody who needs concrete work done, I have already given out JBS Construction's name out to a number of people and they have already called him for estimates. It is great to know a company that really cares about their quality of work! I also like it when a company can finish a big job in 1 day, we were back in our house in 24 hours, the concrete looks beautiful!!!! I will be calling JBS Construction in the future when I would need to get my driveway done.

I would highly recommend JBS Construction and would definately hire them again for future projects at my home. Jeff Stephan, owner, started my project by being punctual for our 1st meeting to discuss replacing my old blacktop driveway with concrete. He was very friendly, easy to talk with, and answered all my questions. Jeff detailed how his company would install my new driveway and I was satisfied that I would be hiring a competant company that would provide the best quality work. I was not dissapointed. Jeff and his crew arrived on the scheduled day with an array of professional equipment and trucks to get the job done right. It was fun watching the crew work like a fine watch, everything in perfect sync. They used quality materials to do the job and spent a lot of time making sure everything was installed right and looked great. My new driveway is absolutely beautiful. Showed up on time and and listened to what I wanted for a concrete patio and driveway. Was very nice and polite. Provided me with a quote which was the lowest of all the contractors who quoted my driveway and patio. I did not go with JBS but wish I had.

The company is owned by two brothers. There is always one brother on site not only to supervise but also working along side the other workers.

I was impressed with this company from the very beginning. Brian came out to give me an estimate. I didn't really know what I wanted to do at first. I just knew that I wanted to get rid of my old patio. Brian showed me pictures of their work, was happy to provide me with references, and helped by giving me some ideas on what would look nice with my house and landscaping. He told me that they were booked up with work, but I was happy to wait a little while. I am so happy that I did. I just love my new patio. They took care of everything from start to finish. They came in with all of their equipment and a small group of guys, poured the patio in less than a day, cleaned up everything and left. I also really liked that Brian and his partner (the other owner-I forget his name) were on the job. They were working right along side their crew; just as hard as the crew was. I think it helps to have the owners of the business on the job like that. I have had a lot of compliments on my patio already. I would definitely hire them again!

JBS Construction's quote was basically on the spot so it was fairly positive. But now we just decided that we didn't need to get a patio.

JBS was outstanding!! I received an estimate from them in early March, and upon moving into my home - they were here within days ready to go. They showed up promptly at 7:00AM on Monday, exactly when they said they would - and began working right away. They started by spray painting the design, which we were able to review before they moved forward. Once my husband and I gave the okay to move forward they began framing out the driveway and walkway, and moved much quicker than I expected. They were ready to pour the concrete by noon on the first day, and even worked through spotty showers. Throughout the entire process I felt especially well informed, and they didn't mind my family and I sitting outside watching them work. They were very friendly, and made sure that we were happy every step of the way. The end result is outstanding, and each day I am happy to come home and see a beautiful driveway in front of our new home. We've received several compliments, and will certainly use JBS when it comes time to finish our back patio. They are a wonderful group of guys who are great at what they do!

The crew arrived at 7:00 a.m. on the day they were scheduled. It was one of the hottest day of the year but they just dug in and had the job done by the early afternoon. Brian had even brought along some extra dirt because the city required that the dirt around the new cement be filled in before they would sign off on the job. The company was very easy to work with, the driveway looks great.

The fellow arrived on time to make an estimate and was pleasant and informative in the process. He said he would send it or call in about 5 days. After about 10 days i called to inquire, received an apology, and was told i would have it by the next day. It never came.

It went very well. They came to give the quote, and when we were ready to committ they let us know when they could come. Everything went well.
