Employee shows up on time for assessment. Walks through premises with clipboard and form to record belongings for the move. Indicated that because it was an Interstate move, he would need to go back to the office to run it through a pricing tool to calculate costs and he would send me what the estimated cost would be. After a day and a half of not hearing from him, I called the office and left a message. I received no reply. Two Men and a Truck was my preferred moving company based on favorable word of mouth reviews from friends in the area and they therefore were the only one I called. When I realized that they were AWOL, I had to scramble and start from scratch with new moving companies. My supicisions about the first non-existant "estimate" were confirmed when the other companies I called came dressed in business attire, were professional, all had laptops or tablet computers to peform the assessment. Ironically, I ended up selecting and using another Two Men and a Truck in the area. They delivered the estimate when promised, called me to confirm move date, time & locations, the price was resonable, the drivers were professional and friendly and showed up on time and the move went without a hitch. I strongly suggest avoiding the Pewaukee franchise of Two Men and a Truck.

They arrived on time, were very pleasant and professional, shrink-wrapped the dressers and any lose drawers on furniture. All items were protected with pads when moving. Not all movers do this extra service. They did have an issue moving the refrigerator and had to remove the doors. In doing so, they failed to remember how it was attached and spent over a half-hour trying to figure it out when it got here. Eventually we had to step up to finish the job and actually level the refrigerator so the doors stayed shut. They also didn't tighten the bed frames and we almost had a disaster that first night when a bed rail let loose. However, overall, the movers were extremely courteous, professional and efficient. I felt that they cared, worked at being cost-effective for me and made sure I was satisfied when they were done. I have use Two Men and A Truck 3 times in the past 2 years and would definitely recommend them and use them again.

Experience was okay. They arrived an hour early which on any other occasion would be fine but we had planned our day around the time that we were told. They were pretty efficient and respectful of our contents. They did make some major marks and scuffs but we made sure to note everything and inform them so that their repair dept could fix them.

Poor experience. The movers were lazy and talked on their cell phones quite a bit. Also, the smoking was inappropriate. They were not very careful with my items. Very disappointed. This move took twice as much time as my previous move, with the same amount of items. Poor experience.

Prompt timing for both the estimate and the move day. Estimate was smooth and precise. Movers showed up earlier than scheduled appointment. Estimate stated two trucks and 4 movers for 7 hours. Actual was two trucks and 4 movers for a total of 5 hours. All movers were polite and courteous. Focus of the team was to satisfy the customer and quickly get the job completed.

I had previously moved some items before movers arrived. Not a large move. They showed up on time and did nice job. Wish I had left more of the moving to them. They charged 2.5 hours at $108/hr. This seemed quite comparable after checking reviews of others. Would hire again.

First of all let me say that the movers were great. They were on time, they were nice, they were polite, they were efficient. The only problem was that they broke the leg on my armoire but I give them total credit for having the honesty and integrity to own up to it. Not only that, they offered to fix it free of charge. They took my armoire with them and told me that it would take about 2 weeks to fix. Now if this is where the story ended I would had given them all As. But unfortunately someone at the company dropped the ball big time. What was promised as being 2 weeks ended up being more like 6 weeks. I left several messages and no one got back to me. And this had me really worried that maybe they had lost my item or something. But with no one getingt back to me I had no way of knowing. I even had my husband call and they told him that they would have someone get back in touch with me and they never did. Finally I ended up calling them back and the person on the phone told me that my item had been fixed along time ago and had been sitting their all along????!!!!!!! What!!!!!!!!?????? When they finally did drop the item off not only was it missing one leg but it was missing all 4! They delivered it but forgot the legs. They went back to the store and delivered and installed the legs to my item a few hours later. I don't mind mistakes as long as people try to fix them, and they did. My only problem with them was keeping my item for 6 weeks instead of 2 and having very poor communication in the mean time. It is for that reason that I cannot give them an A. I would however consider using them again in the future.

The driver called us 30 minutes prior to their arrival as requested that allowed us to get to the apartment in time to meet them. They arrived on time and went to work. The men were very professional in all aspects. They came prepared with all the equipment that would be needed. They carefully wrapped protective film around all items with drawers or doors. Their progress was quick and efficient. The crew even made a side trip for us so that a desk could be dropped off at a different address. When they arrived at the final destination, they came into the house to get an idea of where the various pieces would go. Once they had the plan, they quickly and efficiently unloaded the furniture and placed each piece where our daughter requested. They were very careful with each piece of furniture to make sure there wasn't any damage. We would highly recommend this moving company for any moving job

They moved a very large TV and they did a great job. They are extremely reasonable priced. Two men carried the projection tv across the front yard, in the snow and up 4 steps. There were not scratches or bumps, whatsoever. It was about $100 an hour, but they charged me about $100 + tax, when they were there over an hour. I will continue to use them in the future.

Updated 08/14/2013: My response to the company's response... first and foremost (because it is essential that members see the sort of dishonest statements you've made). In your response you state "With that said we will work with the customer to come to an amicable solution." That's funny because when I spoke to your representatives about coming to such a solution I was told there would be no refund or movement on the revised bill, period, end of story. As of 08/14/2013 your company has made no attempt to correct this issue with us, nor attempted to contact us after we posted the review. NONE! Yet here you are in your response saying your willing to work with us. That is a blatant lie. The whole reason this negative review was posted was because your company REFUSED to work with us or budge on what you charged us (and we paid). Original Review Follows: When the mover's truck pulled up I was skeptical about whether our belongings would fit in the truck they came with. However the movers all seemed confident that they could fit everything in one trip. They were wrong. Not by a lot, but enough to necessitate a second trip. First the good, the individual movers were all very polite and professional. Nothing was broken or damaged. Still the $700 overage was a bit of a shock. I called the company the morning after the move to see if they would work with me on what they charged me. I explained that I could understand a bit of an overage given the unexpected situation, but the end bill being almost double the original estimate was unacceptable. They said they would send someone out to re-estimate the move. The move manager came out recorded our belongings, said he would redo the estimate and left saying he'd give us a call in a couple of days with the updated amount. That was two weeks ago. Finally I called 2 Men and A Truck back this morning to find out what had happened with the re-estimate. I was told the move manager was busy and he'd call me right back. After waiting several hours and still no call I called back a second time and finally got in touch with the move manager. Lo and behold he came up with almost the same estimate as what the end cost was. Strange how two people can put the same amount of "stuff" into the same estimating software and come up with two estimates which more than are $700 apart. Then I was given the standard line "I have been in this business X years and I know everything." The move manager went on to claim it was because we under-reported the number of pre-packed boxes. Really? The initial estimator never asked about the size of the boxes, only the number. Likewise, I didn't see the move manager counting boxes during his re-estimate visit. Maybe their estimating software is crappy, but as far as I'm concerned what this comes down to is a rather disturbing form of bait-and-switch. Apparently this company is comfortable with WAY underestimating the job, then when they've got you over a barrel, they pull the "well, this is going to cost you more than we said". What am I going to say? "No, you said $900, put everything back, I'm calling someone else?" The other part about this situation I found rather astonishing was their unwillingness to "make things right" by offering up any compensation or even acknowledging THEIR mistake. It's not like I was demanding they stick to the $900 estimate... they wouldn't even give back part of the overage. They also gave no thought to the possibility that because the move took a full 4 hours longer than expected it also caused our family a number of headaches. I can't say if any of the other franchises are any better, but steer clear of this one. If you must use Two Men and A Truck, you'd be better off using one of the other Milwaukee area franchises. Or at least plan on paying double what their estimate is. Additional Response to Provider's Response Once again your movers mad e no indication that there would be any difficulty in accomplishing the move in the estimated time or cost even when I asked them such (only to be proven right later). The boxes mentioned were already stacked and ready to dolly except for the few in the attic. As such, those stacks would have taken no longer to move than a single large box. What caused the added hours wasn't the box miscount and extra time moving boxes to and from the truck as you claim. The added hours were a direct result of the fact the truck you used was pathetically small and required two trips. Our home was a small 3 bedroom ~1000 sq ft 50's era ranch home and even without the box count you would have had to make two trips because the furniture from the main floor wouldn't fit in the truck. Regardless of whether the move took the right amount of time or not AFTER the fact, doesn't change the fact that your estimating process has very serious problems. If you're not willing to stand by your estimates, then you should do a better job of making that fact known up front and should not allow estimates to be done over the phone. How about you assume for a moment that not every family has moved 50 times and is thoroughly familiar with conditions which may affect the estimating process. Actually you now claim (after the fact) that you know all about these potential pitfalls, but yet when it came to my interaction with your company your company and its employees acted completely oblivious to them. Your CSR is not a robot or a computer. You and your employees are supposed to be the experts and are supposed to know to watch out for things just like the ones you mentioned that might blow an estimate. Your continued desire to blame the blown estimate entirely on me shows pretty clearly that your company views its customers with contempt and apathy. That is even further evidenced by the fact that you then have the nerve, THE NERVE, after refusing to work with us (which prompted me to write this review), to show up on Angie's List and claim, no, lie about being willing to work with us. I gave you the chance to work this out after the move and you told me to pound sand, you weren't budging.
Description of Work: Contacted company to move our belongings from our 1200 sq ft ranch home. I was given an initial estimate of around $900 to move our furniture and belongings. Most of our non-furniture belongings were packed into standard moving boxes and plastic storage totes. The end cost was almost $1700. Almost double what they had initially estimated.

Response from Two Men And A Truck
I regret that this customer had an unpleasant experience with our company. Please understand that it is never our intent to underestimate any move. Estimating how long a move will take is one of the most difficult things to do because there are so many variables involved—furniture, boxes, attics, stairs, drive time, long walks, doorways, disassembly, and the list goes on. Telephone estimating is even more difficult. Some moving companies do not provide an estimate over the phone due to the probability of an underestimate. With our society today, which waits for no one, we attempt to provide an idea of how long a move will take over the phone as a service to our customers. We offer free in-home estimates and encourage our customers to take advantage of this service. We do tell the customers that this is an estimate and subject to change once the move begins. This is due to several factors-- moving is a stressful time and people forget things; customers overestimate what they will move on their own, then they run out of time and the items they intended to move become part of the move which we were not initially told about. Hence we have underestimated the time and the customer is upset with us. However we were the ones not provided with the correct items during the telephone conversation. We can only estimate with the information that the customer provides. I reviewed the information that the customer provided our CSR over the phone; the information that our manager obtained during the re-estimate; and I spoke to the movers that completed this move. The largest difference between what the customer provided the CSR over the phone and what was actually moved relates to the boxes. The customer told the CSR 35 boxes and the movers indicated that there were at least 200 boxes. Not only were there almost six times the number of boxes, a number of the boxes was in the attic which only had access from a pull-down ladder. Normally, our movers stack the boxes and dolly them to and from the house. However, one mover had to hand the boxes down to another mover and then they had to stack them and dolly them to the truck. Additionally, the large number of boxes caused the movers to take two trips to move all of the customer’s belongings which added travel time as well. A breakdown of the actual hours versus the estimated hours in question follows: 200 boxes versus 35 = 3 hours to move versus .5 hour estimated Removing boxes from attic = 1 hour versus 0 estimated A second round trip due to the 200 boxes = 1.5 hours versus 0 estimated This resulted in an extra 5 hours added to the move at $134/hour for Three Men and a Truck—a difference of $670. The CSR’s initial estimate totaled $976.36 and the actual move totaled $1,641.00—a difference of $664.64. Based upon my review and discussions with the staff, the customer's move took the required amount of time. Like previously stated, we do provide free on-site estimates and encourage all of our customers to take advantage of this free service. We feel that Angie’s list provides a great service to the community it serves and we are proud to be a Super Service Winner in past years. With that said we will work with the customer to come to an amicable solution.
