Description of Work: People - Very nice, from the person quoting the services to the people doing the actual work. Can't say enough nice things about the staff. | |Cost - Just about every item quoted turned out to be quite high, although I didn't realize it at the time. Example: Hot water heater replacement quote $400 higher than other quotes I rec'd, with their spec'd hot water heater having less gallons and shorter life expectancy than the others on quotes rec'd. | |Work Done: The tech handled things differently than the quoted job and saved time/effort, but no adjustment in price and his "fix" not discussed before he did the work. Rather than breaking into cement floor and cutting drain tile to help flow, then cementing as quoted, he just put a lid over it and cemented on top. Left 2x to get parts. Ended up having to call them back to my house TWO times in following days (and therefore arrange to be home from work), due to their work continuing to have leaks. | |Summary: While the staff was wonderful and the responsiveness was great, not impressed with the work done and the price was far from ideal.

Description of Work: I had my hot water heater replaced. They quoted me in person what it would be and then after taking out my old one they said the new one wasn't an exact fit and it was going to cost more to install it. They should have know from the start that it was slightly different this is what they do

Description of Work: We've used them before and were happy with results. Called them this time to remove old water softener and install outdoor tap. Bob was very professional and did a good and complete job.

Description of Work: Clean drain. |They gave me a hugely inflated quote to replace the drain piping below the basement floor. |Got the job done for much less by another contractor.

Description of Work: Replaced approx 15 ft of rusted, leaking sewer pipe in basement. Polite, professional. Excellent job of minimizing mess and cleaned up well after themselves. This is 3rd time I've used Hartlaub. Very satisfied.

Description of Work: WARNING: Do not use these guys! I called Mike Hartlaub on a Thursday night and he quoted me $200 to winterize my father’s home. When his employee, Adam, came he looked at the house and said that the $200 quote was based on city water and no water softener. I can’t believe that most houses don’t have a water softener and no one ever asked if we had a well. So, the job that he quoted at $200 suddenly became a 3+ hour job for $509. He had me sign to authorize work. I had already taken off work and waited for them to show up. I was not going to take another day off. Adam was done in less than 2 hours. So, I expected something less than $509 since he had grossly over-estimated the job to start with. When I called Mike Hartlaub, the owner, he said that they do not quote based on hours (even though Adam had said it would take at least 3 hours) and that was why they were charging me extra. I was assertive and said that I wanted 1 hour work ($150) off the bill. Mike got very aggressive and started jumbling his facts. I told him that I planned to write the Better Business Bureau and Angie’s list. So, he offered me $20. I declined his offer and he told me that the Better Business Bureau and Angie’s List wouldn’t do anything anyways. I challenge you to prove him wrong. Dear Fellow Angie’s Lister, please make my experience and my words not be in vain.

Description of Work: We had two new kohler low water toilets installed. Hartlaub preformed the proper install and noted to us that our builder's plumbers had installed incorrect fittings/pipes. Hartlaub made the corrections; they are very detail oriented, they work neat and clean. Hartlaub made sure we were satisfied with the corrections and work preformed. If you are picky, want the contractor that does the work correctly, look no further; I highly recommend Hartlaub plumbing.

Description of Work: Had an issue with a water heater. Brian came over the same afternoon and fixed it.

Description of Work: Mike Hartlaub and Brian came over to install a NAVIEN Tankless water heater. They did a fantastic job taking the old one out and installing this 98% energy efficient water heater. Brain did most of the work. The installation went incredibly smooth. These guys are trained in the installation of this incredible heater so they know all the ins and out. Brian explained everything about the heater. Some minor maintenance is required every year. I would hire these guys again in a heartbeat. Very nice gentlemen. Clean, neat and punctual.

Description of Work: EMERGENCY REPAIR OF UTILITY SINK. I CALLED THIS COMPANY BECAUSE THEY WERE DOING WORK ON OUR REMODELING PROJECT. IT SEEMED BECAUSE IT WAS AN EMERGENCY REPAIR, THEY TOOK ADVANTAGE OF THE SITUATION AND CHARGED TOO MUCH.
