Hartlaub Plumbing Heating Cooling and Electric

Hartlaub provided a competitive quote and scheduled their service around some construction that we were having done. The work, removing old hose bibs and shut-off valves and installing new ones, was done professionally. After the work was done, the work areas were thoroughly cleaned. The installer gave a detailed explanation of all of the work that was done. We have used Hartlaub before and always been very happy with their work.

Beware! Worst customer service ever, once they get your money! I was looking for a bathroom remodel, and other work on my house, and the idea of a company that does plumbing, electrical, & Heating/Cooling was very appealing. They were highly rated (at least at some sites) and had been around a while, so I hoped they'd be dependable and trustworthy. The lady (Annie) I spoke with initially really talked up their "Total Care Club" (% off many services, Annual furnace & AC check & Tune Up, whole house electrical & plumbing checkup. $299/yr, $499 for 3 yrs). It seemed like a good deal for someone looking to do a lot of work, like me, but I didn't know the company that well so I opted for the 1 yr plan. I was told I could upgrade later, as long as I did so within a month. When the initial furnace tune-up and checks seemed to go ok, and the month deadline was coming close, I decided I may as well fork out the additional $199 to get the additional 2 years since I'd already paid $299 for the 1st, so I called and asked to upgrade to the 3 year plan. Well, that was a mistake. From then on I had nothing but trouble with the company. I tried and tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. I had issues with different technicians they sent out. Anything from terrible communication/lack thereof, to up-selling (numerous times within an hour!) & bait and switch. Telling me they'd send me a proposal for a job in a week...nothing...complained to company, finally received proposal, for totally different work than the electrician said they would do (higher priced)! When I wrote back asking about it, NO response. I'd already had an appointment set up with one of their other employees, Jennifer, to come out with a master plumber and talk with me about options for my bathroom remodel. Again, very poor communication and customer service (she actually laughed at one of my bathrooms and tried to add an exhaust fan to the other. I tried telling her I already had one but she didn't get it, till the plumber explained it was a combo light/exhaust fan). I got the impression she was probably not very experienced but hey, we all have to start somewhere, right? Unfortunately it wasn't just lack of experience but, again, poor communication & customer service skills, to say the least. Up-selling, trying to say they'd said something else, then not apologizing, barely even acknowledging when I copied/pasted their contradiction from a previous email. I had enough. I decided if I was having so much trouble with them even before the project was started they were NOT the company for me. 11/25/19 I emailed Hartlaub employees (Jennifer & Annie), letting them know, in no uncertain terms, that I no longer wanted to do business with them and I would like to have my money back for the additional 2 yrs of the "Total Care Club" (I was only a couple months into the 1st year). 11/26/19 Jennifer replied saying something about how she was sorry I felt that way, said nothing about the refund & carbon copied another employee (Brian Fritz) & Annie. 12/7/19 I replied all (Jennifer, Annie & Brian), asking if someone would please let me know the status of the refund and if they needed anything from me to get it going. NO RESPONSE IN ANY WAY 12/23/19 I called, spoke with Annie. I asked about the refund. She said she had seen a note that the request had been sent to someone. That it was something that would need to be ok'd by someone above her. She'd check with them and call me 12/26/19. I did not receive a call, from Annie, nor anyone else from the company. 3/1/20 I emailed, asking again about the refund, mentioned I'd called and not received the call back I was promised. NO RESPONSE IN ANY WAY How they have responded to a simple request for a refund on their "Total Care Club", when I was only asking for the money back for the years we were not even in yet, has told me I made a VERY good call when I decided not to go with them for any serious work on my house. I can't believe they have managed to stay in business with this kind of practice. Use them at your own risk.

Pump replacement was on rainy/melting day and i had flooding. Eric was AWESOME - was early and help clean up. Made sure drains outside were working correctly. Helped sweep water to the drain the basement. Eric noticed by furnace was making a noise and suggested I set up time to speak with someone about this. I then met with TJ a few days later to talk about the furnace and HVAC installation. TJ was very helpful - quoted out several options and did not pressure me to making any quick decisions. I will absolutely use them again for any plumbing, HVAC, Furnace, or electrical needs!

The technician who came out to my home was professional and I felt very comfortable with him being in my home. There were some unique challenges we experienced which required me to contact the owner of the company. I am writing this review because of the response from him. He went above and beyond to make things right and to have a conversation with me about what happened with my basement and the work we had done. Not all companies/owners reach out to learn more from its customers and he did just that. I appreciated the followup because it was genuine and kind, and not always something I've seen from many other companies.

The plumber replaced my toilet and disconnected and removed my old water softener. He was knowledgeable, professional, and answered all my questions. Work was done to my satisfaction. I'd contact them again for plumbing needs.

Wayne was a rockstar! Many HVAC guys refuse to work on Munchkin boilers, Wayne went in like a champ and had that mess humming like a Porsche on the coldest day of the year!!!

Very good. Easy to schedule. Fixed the sump the same day I called.

My first impression was very favorable. The representative they sent, Sam was very friendly and straight forward. He knew what he was talking about. A good guy. They provided me a very clearly described estimate and what they were going to be doing. A good company that keeps in touch.

I had them for electrical because they do electrical, plumbing and sump pumps. I had them in for electrical. They responded the same day, they came the same day. They came out exactly when they said they would be here. It was great. What had happened was my sump pump wasn't working, so I thought it needed to be recharged. So, I had the regular guy do that, and he said no, it wasn't the sump pump, it wasn't anything electrical. I needed him to find out why my sump pump wasn't working. I needed it fixed right away. When I had them out for electrical, I guess there was a storm or something I had lost electricity and when it started back up it wasn't quite connecting. You couldn't reset it. When the electrical person came out he ended up fixing that. The price was fine. The quality was excellent. They came out the same day. It cost me $49. It was excellent. I can't recommend them highly enough.

During our last heavy rain I had water in my basement where the sewer drain is located. I called a plumber who was not successful in resolving the issue and in fact made the issue worse. Instead of just having ground water in my basement I actually had sewer backup. I called Hartlaub very late in the afternoon on a Friday, approximately 3:00 I believe, and thankfully they were able to send someone to my home within a very short period of time the same day. Andy was able to resolve the issue enough to drain the water from the basement but did have to come back the next week on Monday to complete a hydro jetting process which required special equipment. Andy took extra time to show me camera images of my sewer to help me understand what was going on. There was originally some concern that the pipe had collapsed which would have been a major and very expensive job. Andy was very patient in thoroughly addressing my concerns and answering any questions I had. At the same time, my garbage disposal went out. Not only did the disposal itself need to be replaced but the wiring under the kitchen sink was also bad and had to be replaced. Dale was the electrician that assisted with the installation of the garbage disposal. He was also very professional, arrive timely, and provided a very positive customer experience. Thank you to both Andy and Dale for making a very stressful situation a little easier to deal with.

Was referred via Home Depot install. Wasn't offered a quote when they called to set up. Tech was able to quote 15 seconds after he saw how simple it would be. Everyone was nice, but price was much higher than I expected for 1 hour of work. I was told tech would be making all sorts of checks on the system, but there's nothing verbal or written that indicated he did that.

The service went great. Everything from calling the office to the actual service. Every time I called their number the phone was answered. They were great at getting me on the schedule in a timely manner. I always had a great sense of what things cost. They were always great at communicating when they will be here. I would definitely call and recommend them.

I called Hartlaub because their sticker is on the pump and given that there was not even dust on it yet I assumed it was under warranty. They came, confirmed it was malfunctioning, was under warranty and diagnosed the issue. After diagnosing the issue with the manufacturer the technician told me that they needed to replace the pump motor & controller and that it would be ~$250 labor (parts were covered under warranty by the manufacturer). I asked why so expensive, the pump itself lists on Amazon for $650 and there is no plumbing to do. It can't take that long to swap out a motor and control board without touching the plumbing. The technician then went to the truck, came back and I heard the pump run. On the advice from the manufacturer, he had plugged the motor directly into the wall instead of through the controller to verify it worked and the controller was the issue. I was told that the motor was fine and that only the control board would need to be replaced and that it would be under $200. They would need to order the parts and return. I said OK, but stressed that I was unhappy that I was being charged so much for a repair to something that is an integral part of our home, under warranty and is only 18 months old. On returning to swap the control board it took about an hour. The bill for labor including tax was $245.93. Not under $200 Not reasonable given it was a product they installed, service, was under warranty and only took an hour on site Not going to have me as a customer in the future

The gas valve to our kitchen stove had a small leak (which I confirmed both by smell and using the old dish soap test). It's an old valve seeing several decades of use. Hartlaub Plumbing was able to send someone out within 3 hours of me calling (in fact, they were able to arrive 2 hours earlier than originally estimated!). I appreciate the timeliness given a gas leak is nothing to delay repair of. The leak was confirmed and the faulty valve was replaced. In addition, the supply line to our kitchen stove was also replaced for good measure. Total time at my residence was about 1 hour. The price of $315 included a $59.00 trip charge, labor and materials.

My experience with them was good. It worked. They did great. They were very professional.

I was really very disappointed with their service. First of all they were very vague on the cost of the job, I did not understand and had to look at id first. It was a very nasty service. It was very unclear what they actually did at the end of the service, at the end of the day. During the two hours that the person was there, I got three phone calls from him and gave the impression that he was not qualified for the job because he was asking me instructions on what I needed him to do and he also he mentioned that he is in contact with the company’s owner to check that he is doing the right thing. And after two hours, it cost me $350. It was just very poor knowledge on what they were doing. The problem was resolved but it was not resolved like I expected it be.

Great experience. Our tech's name was Sam. We had him twice before and he is really great. He explained everything to us and answered all our questions.

They were punctual, courteous, knowledgeable and very professional. They explained to me how we could increase our water pressure. They charged a reasonable fee. A few months before we had gotten soaked by another local plumbing company with replaceing our water heater, so this was a wonderful experience. I didn't feel like I had to have my husband home as he explained the situation to me very well. I would not hesitate to call on them again!

The service was excellent. It turned out to be a larger job then originally anticipated but the plumber stayed and did his best to resolve all the issues as quickly and cost effectively as possible.

REPLACED PIPES IN THE BASEMENT & RELIGHT APPLIANCES. THERE WERE 3 GAS LEAKS

They were excellent. I think they were very confident and conscientious. I had no problems. I think the pricing was fair but it wasn't cheap.

I called originally for a plugged floor drain in our unfinished basement. It ended up being the motor for the pump was broken. Sam gave me two quotes based on different size motors. He was quick and efficient. I was impressed how soon they could make it my house. (Less than 24 hours) since it was not an emergency.

They did a good job. They were quick to get us back with quotes and they got the job done for the quote that they gave us.

It was a free estimate. It was for replacing the main plumbing in our house, it's all galvanized steel so we're trying to replace it with copper. It was also for replacing our water heater. Their price was higher than the other quotes we had received.

Hartlaub provided Quality Plumbing work and has been very attentive to my questions and observations.
