TOM'S HANDY SERVICES

It went very well. He did a very good job, and we are very pleased. He explained everything to me about what was going on and he told me when I could hang things on the wall-which was a really good thing because I would have tried to put up things way too soon. Thanks Tom!!!

This was a long, nasty, labor intensive job. He never complained he was jovial and considerate. The work turned out well. He is an excellent worker, paying great attention to detail and fully committed to getting the job done right. His rates were very reasonable, I think it was 35.00 per hr; He was awesome. This guy rocks!!!!

Tom does excellent work and we were amazed by the end results. He thoughtfully demolished portions of a 1956 home and was sensitive to our needs of keeping the dust under control. Had multiple fans running to keep the air clean and would clean up. He planned out all the plumbing and completed work. Everything was well secured and stable (passed inspection in one go). Made a custom pan for pouring the concrete of the shower stall and pitched it just right to make the water drain well. The experience he brings makes sure that things get done correctly. Build the shower stall, completed mosaic tiling, installed the vanity counter top, sink, faucets and shower door. Tom also did plenty of drywall work, door hanging some electrical work and carpentry (shelves and build us a custom door from oak). Tom is extremely capable and knows how to do things right. We are having him over to re-do our master bathroom now. Tom scheduled us in 2 - 3 weeks after the first call and was here everyday for about 4 weeks till the originally scoped job was completed. He was professional enough not to start the job and then run around with other smaller jobs. We trusted Tom with the home and never had a concern. He would work alone at home and clean up and lock up before he left. The times we were at home, Tom is a pleasure to be around and he actually has a decent sense of humor. He also taught me how to do a few things and I was able to contribute a little into the remodeling of my house .... Overall, excellent experience and we will have him over anytime we need to do something at our home ..

The experience was extremely disappointing and frustrating. Initially he offered to squeeze us in between other appointments, which was great. However, he was a no-show (after we had already taken the day off from work) with virtually no warning whatsoever. Despite my better judgement we rescheduled the job for a few days later. The first day he showed up late... again with virtually no warning. We were not able to finish the work in two days so I informed him we would call him in a couple days to schedule the rest of the work. Since that time I have left 4+ voicemails for Tom. I have not heard back at all. What a complete lack of professionalism. Now we are stuck with a half-done bathroom trying to convince some other contractor it is worth their time to come out and finish Tom's "work." The whole process was an utter nightmare. I would strongly encourage people use a different contractor.

Terrible. We had, what I thought, mutually set up an appointment for a specific time and date. That time comes and goes, no Tom. I call him within 15 minutes of that appointment and ask where he's at. He replies, "Oh... I forgot to write it down." So, we finally agreed to a later time that day. He finally shows up. He gives me a ridiculously high estimate. If he didn't want the job, I had wished people like this wouldn't waste both of our time. I can't understand how someone can operate this way and receive all of the glowing reports he's got here? Either my standards are too high or other people had thought differently of him. He seems like a flakey person. I wouldn't hire him, period.

The experience was excellent from start to finish. Cost was reasonable and as estimated. Quality and timeliness were excellent.

He was punctual, professional and always pleasant. His work was outstanding. Tom is very dependable and conscientious. If there is a problem, Tom will spend whatever time it takes to solve it satisfactorily. He always cleans up after completing the day's job. I trust him implicitly, to the point that, because I had an appointment, left him alone in my house to complete work.

Tom completely removed all fixtures, tile, and flooring from our main bath and replaced everything. New tub, cabinet, wall and floor tile. He did an excellent job! Very detailed and professional. His work is very high quality and done in on time, in budget.

He did the job. I was satisfied. He did it in a reasonable time.

came over on short notice, picked up special parts at Home Depot, worked diligently, and completed task in short order...this is the second time i used Tom and will definitely use him again

He was very "user-friendly". I will definitely in the future and look forward to working with him again.

We needed our hardwood floor repaired prior to Thanksgiving as we were hosting dinner for 30 people. We had a reputable flooring company come out to estimate the repairs (which they estimated at 2 hours); however, they stated they wouldn't be able to perform the repairs until mid-December. We called Tom to see if he was available. Tom committed to the job and honored the 2 hour estimate site unseen. Even though Tom had prior work scheduled for the day he was able to repair our damaged floor in the evening. Not only did Tom exceed the expectations in the quality of the work he provided, but he was also able to settle a dispute between my wife and I regarding proper cooking techniques for turkey (and I'm happy to say the Turkey was excellent thanks to his advice!).

The work that was done was excellent. He is very meticulous and kind of a perfectionist. His prices are very reasonable and he finished in a timely matter. He is highly recommended.

It was great. I really liked him. He is just a really upbeat kind of guy. He was always cheerful and he worked like an energizer bunny. He carted all the debris away for me too, which I was amazed by. I called him back a third time about some extra work, but he never called me back. I really enjoyed working with him the first couple of times around, but when he never returned my call, I went with someone else.

Tom initially responded to my call in a timely fashion. He set up a time to come look at all the things on my "to do list." He did come a little late, but was very friendly. He looked at everything I needed done including building some stairs, adding a light, fixing wood trim, putting together a cabinet, installing a screen and main door etc, etc. He took measurements of everything and told me he charged $30 an hour- which I thought was very very reasonable. He left stating that he had a few other jobs but would get to mine within a couple of weeks. I waited 4 weeks and never heard from him. I called him and he returned my call a few days later. I had stated that I was wondering if he was still interested in the job. He stated he was. I asked if it could be done in the next 2 weeks and stated if he couldn't do it to just let me know and I would find somebody else no problem. He insisted he could do it but had just been busy (he rattled off a bunch of excuses, etc). I told him several times that if he was too busy to just let me know but I wanted it done within 2 weeks (6 weeks from our original contact). Again he insisted. So we agreed he would call me by the end of that week to set up a date the following week for him to come out. I have never heard from him again!! The first time he came out was July 3rd so now it has been nearly 3 months. I wish if he was too busy he would have just said that and at least would have had the courtesy to tell me. I have since called other companies from Angie's List and have gotten some of my work done through them. I will not be calling Tom again.

He was prompt, neat and his attention to detail was great. The job was done efficiently despite the fact that my husband started the job and made a mess of it. Tom worked to fix my husband's mistakes and to turn my bathroom into a showpiece. He even cut extra tiles for me.

I CALLED TOM. HE RETURNED MY CALL IMMEDIATELY AND WE SET UP A TIME FOR HIM TO COME TO MY RESIDENCE FOR AN ESTIMATE. HE CAME AND WAS ON TIME. HE GAVE ME THE ESTIMATE AND SAID TO CALL HIM IN A FEW WEEKS TO SET UP A TIME WHERE HE COULD PERFORM THE WORK I NEEDED TO BE DONE. HE TOLD ME TO BUY THE DISHWASHER AND HE WOULD BE OVER IN TWO WEEKS. WELL, IT'S BEEN OVER TWO MONTHS AND STILL NO TOM. I HAVE CALLED HIM EVERY WEEK FOR THE PAST FIVE WEEKS AND STILL NOTHING. NOW, I HAVE A $550 DISHWASHER SITTING IN MY KITCHEN AND HAVE NO ONE TO INSTALL IT!!! I AM MAD AND WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH TOM AGAIN.

From our first visit, which he made on a Saturday, working with Tom was terrific. He clearly knew what he was doing, always thought about what might work best for the project. And, we felt completely safe leaving him with our house keys.

He was very good at responding to the call I had left him. He was very punctual on coming out to give us an estimate. I was very impressed with his promptness. I would have used him but I was referred to another by a friend. He is a very good second man and I would use him in the future.

They worked on site without us being there. They completed the work in a timely fashion. They were very personable and did a good job.

I initially hired Tom to install some light fixtures and perform some minor repairs. Based on his work, I then hired him to paint the complete interior of my home and install some architectural salvage pieces. He is a very precise craftsman in his work. He is also helpful with plumbing repairs. I am very satisfied with his work and attention to detail. I plan on hiring Tom to completely renovate a bathroom.

I called the day after Thanksgiving, and Tom promised to come on Sunday. He called as promised, and arrived on time. I was very impressed with his friendliness and enthusiasm. I have set an appointment for him to return for other projects.

Tom's workmanship is excellent. There are very few people that I would trust to do construction on my house. His plumbing, carpentry, painting, and odd job "know how" represent a unique set of skills that I have not seen before. The walls look great. When my toilet was leaking water on every flush, he found time to come by and fix it without the plumber's emergency service charge. He pays attention to detail. The hard wood floor looks great also. Tom charges by the hour and is very conscientious with how he uses his time. He paints very fast and well. Many who charge by the hour seem to move slow. Tom, on the other hand, is very efficient. I keep his card handy.

He started on a Tuesday and said he'd be done when he was done. I didn't have a kitchen sink for nine days. Granted, it took a little longer because he had to put a counter top on, but he didn't even get the cabinets in for four days. I feel he was milking the hourly money. He told me it would be three days and it took nine. He tore everything out and then made me sign a proposal before he would install the sink. He kept telling me he would be done when he was done and was verbally abusive about it. I started leaving when he would be coming to the house and he made a sexually inappropriate comment. He would not handle questions well and would come and go as he pleased. He also never got rid of the old cabinets in the backyard. Also, there was white tile he did not replace, but I told him I would do the tiling because I wanted the job finished quicker so that he would leave quicker. I would give him high marks in workmanship, but low marks for professionalism.

Tom helped us take our ideas and turn them into a practical application. He didn't mess around and was very personable. The only challenge that we've had with him is getting him to respond promptly. In fact, for a second job he has not returned our phone calls. We hope he's okay.
