TOM'S HANDY SERVICES

Tom did the kitchen back splash first, and it looks great. We've gotten many compliments on it. The major project was the shower. Tom gave us a competitive price. Since we haven't done any tile projects in the past, Tom was helpful in referring us to a tile shop that he has a relationship with. They proved to be helpful in picking the right tiles for each aspect of the job. Tom was very respectful of our home too. Tiling is a dirty job! He made sure to lay drop cloths on the carpet and cleaned up each day before he left. I was really happy with the work he did, and I will definitely be calling him in the future for projects. We have already referred him to our friends.

Tom came and laid a great foundation for me so that I could begin my work. He is very fair and works so hard. His price was better than anyone else.

had to call him several times to find out when he would arrive. vague about when he would get here. was not sure of how to get here. on angies list it says he charges $35.00 an hour. he was here for 15 - minutes tops and charged me $50.00!!! when i asked him why so much he gave me some lame a** excuses, even though i pointed out that angies list had him at $35.00 per hour. he thought it was sort of funny. shame on him for charging that much, especially a disabled senior for only 15 minutes of work and it was not a hard job, it is just that one end the connecter hose would not budge. angies list needs to address this and also the issue of what he really charges per hour and update his services on the website. are they anymore honest handymen left in Milwaukee that can be trusted? his response to my review was 99% lies and I won't be calling or recommend him. why are some customers charged $35./hr. and others $50./hr. it does state that he charges $35./hr.

I kept him. He is my on-call handyman. He charges $35 an hour.

Tom was great to work with. We have a 5 year old son that Tom was very patient with. Tom would joke with him while working and even allowed him to and quot;helpand quot; while keeping up a fast pace. The entire bath remodel took 3 weeks which Tom kept on schedule. He charged labor + materials and was very competitive. He used the material we purchased and when he ran into some issues (the glass block window we ordered was too large) he easily addressed them (went out and purchased a perfect sized window). Overall, the job turned out great. The only regret we have is that we decided to paint the walls, trim on our own... and still haven't finished! Tom was a joy to work with and we will definitely use his services again in the future.

I live out of state and I needed a contractor that I can trust to work on my rental property in Greenfield, I also needed a guy to work the weekend at a normal rate. Phone interview was great. I was able to tell Tom was one of those and quot;Get it doneand quot; kind of guy, and I loved his energy level and enthusiasm. There are many lazy contractors out there, but Tom is absolutely positively NOT one them. He is one of the hardest working guys in his field. Here is my detailed assessment of his service: Customer service and trust: I also asked my tenant to give me a feedback on Tom, and he had a raving review too. Trust is a really big issue for me because my tenant is an introvert foreigner and very shy. I want a guy that makes my tenant feel at ease, and I've already had a guy that made my tenant feel uncomfortable. Honesty: As I indicated, I'm an out of state owner and any dishonest handyman could have taken advantage of the situation and charge me extra and lie about repairs. He also purchased all the needed parts and appliances and only charged me exactly for the price that was paid. I know this because I verified the price with the store and it was exact. This man is HONEST. Prompt: I called him Thursday night for the job and he was able to start the next day. He also worked over the weekend and also performed some shopping on my behalf. Kitchen job was fully completed by Tuesday, but only because that was the only time the refrigerator can be delivered. Cost: I don't know how he can make a living charging the labor rate he does. I work with lot contractors because I'm in home rehab type of business. Tom's total labor cost was less than what I expected, even my wife was surprised by the cost. Hourly labor rate is deceptive because it doesn't mean anything if the contractor is incapable or dishonest. Tom's rate is honest and its more than fair. Any customer that give him negative rating on cost has got to be a real j****** in person. I will definitely use Tom again in the future.

He was referred by a friend in the area who has used Tom and was very pleased. He's got a great sense of humor, very nice guy, seems extremely honest. He was a bit slow on getting started but he's a solo practitioner and we did initially say that we weren't in a big hurry. So, when we called a second time to say we were anxious for him to do the job, he immediately committed to a date and time and stuck to it. His rate is by the hour which is very fair. His quality/standards seem very high and he pointed out that he's a licensed contractor. We will certainly use him again and he's sending some photos of his bathroom remodel work because we are intending on redoing a master bath. Two thumbs up!

This company was a little slow to respond, but when he did he admitted he had been very busy. At the same time, this was a small job. They did come out and look at the damaged area and we discussed options. A bid was provided but I decided to move forward with a different provider.

Previous to the installation, Tom met me at the tile store to show me the possible choices of materials and examples of some completed projects. When the order was ready, he picked up the materials and arrived on the date agreed upon. He worked meticulously, showing a sense of pride and concern for artistry. At the end of each day's work, Tom cleaned up. He is always pleasant and enjoyable to converse with.

Nothing to tell, he never showed up or returned voicemails.

It started out well, but we ended up being disappointed. Cost went up because he went over his estimated time. We had to clean a lot of the tile ourselves(GROUT), because we would have had to pay more for him to be here longer. He was very messy. He had someone come back to clean our carpet (Because he was messy)and that was not even good. Sorry Tom, but that's the way it is. We would not recommend his services.

He was personable and came when he said he was going to come. His price was very reasonable. I will probably end up using him when I start the project.

Tom was chearful, hardworking, and proved to be a man who loves his work. He always kept us informed what had to be done and how he was going to accomplish it with our approval. He was patient with us when we added more jobs to our contract and was reasonable with his costs. The job took alittle longer then expected but, like I said we did add more to the job.

Tom was the only service provider (of 3) who was willing to get to the cause of the leak. Solving that problem took most of a week. The second week he repaired the wall and ceiling openings he made and tiled the shower. He did an excellent job. The shower works properly and looks beautiful. Tom was dependable and prompt. He cleaned up every day and worked steadily and cheerfully. He will be coming back later in July to remodel a powder room for us.

I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. Most of his work was fine. I paid him to do the rest of the work and he never showed back up.

Tom was a pleasure to work with. He worked very efficiently, productively, and really knew what he was doing relative to the custom tiled shower stall. We are very pleased with the final result. Tom worked with us on the schedule when the tiling work was initially delayed and then again during the middle of the job when we were waiting for some additional custom tile to be delivered to the tile shop. The actual cost of the job came in about a third less than his original estimate as his hourly rate is extremely reasonable. We would recommend Tom to others who are looking for quality work at a good price.

I found him on Angie's list. I was moving from my upstairs apartment and needed to get it ready for a new tenant to rent. I would definitely use them again.

Did not show for appointment to give me an estimate, I left work early to meet him on the date and time he had scheduled.

Overall it went very well. Tom got right to work, was efficient, and cleaned up when he was done. He enjoys what he does and makes sure that the job is done correctly. Hooking up the new kitchen sink was challenging and after it was put together Tom ran the dishwasher and the faucet to test for any problems or leaks. Everything seemed to be working but over the next day we noted that the sink wouldn't drain and there was a leak. Tom prompty came back, at no charge, snaked our pipes and removed debri that was causing the back-up. He also fixed the leak and explained why it had occured. The sink works great now and we have had no further problems. With Tom's help, our kitchen project came in under budget and it looks beautiful.

Tom called me back immediately. He came over to take a look at what we needed to get done and emailed us a quote. I asked him how long it would take and he was pretty right on with the estimate. He stuck to his quote and was very patient waiting for out tile, and shower door to come in even with my inability to decide whether I wanted a black toilet or a white one. He was always willing to pick up materials I was supposed to get. He was accommodating when we changed our minds about something. There isn't anything about the job that I felt could have been done better. He is a pleasure to work with.

We are remodeling 2 bathrooms and hired a plumber to rough in a 5'x6' shower in each bath. The plumber roughed in the plumbing, the cement floor bed, Durarock walls and ceiling. He told us he does not do tile work so we would have to find someone to tile out the showers. It was difficult to find someone who would do the work in the middle of the project, due to liability and warranty. Tom explained that he had done complete bathroom remodeling work and had done tile work after someone else had roughed in the shower. He also had a very competitive quote and added an extra step over another quote we received which was adding a waterproof sealant before installing the tile. We liked Tom right away when he came to do the estimate. When you first meet Tom, he comes off as light-hearted, somewhat of a jokester, and it is his nature but also the fact that he is very seasoned, has been doing this for many years and he is capable of working in any environment. Tom enjoys his work, likes people, and has a half-full attitude about life. After Tom started the job, we noticed that he is a true professional. He sets up quickly and gets right to work. He works a full day, without breaks most days, to our amazement. We have hired many contractors during our many renovations and projects and Tom is without a doubt the hardest working, most tireless contractor we have ever seen. You will definitely get your money's worth. Not only that, but he is a perfectionist who makes not very plumb walls look straight. He will work it until it is right. Tom is easy to work with. Tom had no problem with doing the job with the tile we supplied and provided receipts for the other materials he provided (thinset, mortar, grout, caulk, etc.) and we reimbursed him. It was refreshing to find a contractor who would work with the materials you'd hand-picked and didn't up-charge materials he provides. Tom didn't even charge us for gas or travel time so we tipped him at the end of the project because we were so pleased with everything. Tom and I had an agreement where I would run to the store to get any supplies he may need in order to save us money and so that Tom could keep working. I would trust him with anything in my house - he has a good conscience and is trustworthy. Tom finished the project in the amount of time he said he would, worked hard everyday until the job was done, and came in under budget. The showers turned out beautifully, as you will see from the attached photos. We added a request after he'd started and Tom was happy to comply: he installed and grouted glass tile around the corner wall of the showers which added an upscale, glamorous touch.

I really can't say enough nice things about Tom. I got a total of four bids for this job. Though he was not the least expensive, he was the only contractor who didn't try to tell me what I wanted, but instead listened to what I told him. He kept in careful phone contact throughout and made a number of additional errands to check on availability of materials, confirm his initial measurements and share stain samples so I could make informed choices. I had planned to order a vanity cabinet from a big box store, but Tom said he had a friend who could do a one of a kind piece for the same amount. I trusted him, went with his friend's work, and couldn't be more pleased to have an original piece of furniture for only slightly more than a stock cabinet would have cost. The finished work included some clever, well-executed problem-solving when ordered materials did not turn out as we both had hoped. And it all looks amazing. You can tell he really cares about workmanship. Tom is also friendly to pets and incredibly respectful about your household. He cleaned up, vacuumed and stacked things out of the way after every day's work. He's funny, gregarious and despite five days in our house, knew to respect our privacy. I kind of want to dream up something else for him to do....the whole experience was such a pleasure.

I called this gentleman to get an estimate for a plumbing job. he lives only minutes away from us. I left 2 messages requesting he contact me about our job - the guy NEVER even called us back! Really? I didn't realize the economy was so good that he can afford to neglect customers and new jobs! I wish we were in the same world! VERY DISAPPOINTED!

Process went perfectly. Tom squeezed in the faucet and light fixture before a party I was having, working into the evening to get it done. Tile job looks beautiful. I would recommend Tom's services highly and feel his prices are completely fair.
