Description of Work: Developed and executed a plan to remodel our 120 sq ft master bathroom. Our home was built in 1998 and we had a "builders grade" bathroom with a huge whirlpool tub, tiny shower and one standard size vanity (very little storage). We wanted to remove the tub, have a large walk in shower built, two vanities and more storage. Janell, Callen's designer, came to our home to evaluate the floor plan and develop a plan that would meet our needs and budget. About 1 week later, we went to Callen's show room to see the plan and review the estimate. (Note: prior to meeting with Callen, we had met with another highly rated Angie's List remodeler, who had presented a "nice plan" that would have met our needs, but I wasn't crazy about.). Before Janell brought up the 3D floor plans, she told us that she had created two plans ... one was closer to our budget, and one was a bit of a stretch, but she wanted us to see it. She brought up the "stretch" floor plan on screen and my jaw dropped. It was a beautiful plan. Rather than just stick a shower in the corner, put a sink next to it, and another sink across the room against the other wall (leaving a lot of wasted open space in the middle of the room), she showed a plan that took down one shower wall, and put up a new one that would serve as the shower wall and the anchor to one of the large vanities. It was a great use of the space, looked high end, and exceeded our expectations (and budget). We were a little worried when she brought up the second plan, that we wouldn't like it as much, but we weren't at all disappointed. The second plan had less cabinetry and granite, but had the same "feel" as the first one. We made some modifications to the plan, shored up some price-impacting details, and had a first round estimate in our hands before we left. The estimate was about $4k over our budget. About one week later, Janell called and told us that it was Callen's 25th anniversary, and they were able to negotiate some deals with their suppliers, and make some changes to their labor costs in order to bring the estimate down to just under $35k (remarkably, that was our budget). We were good to go. About 4 weeks passed between contract signature and start date. Janell was very helpful in making selections, both for materials that Callen was supplying and those that we were responsible for (light fixtures, towel bars, etc.). She had a good eye for what we liked and how it would "go". The work started on time, and went largely according to the schedule that they had laid out. It took about 6 weeks overall, but we were able to use the toilet and sinks after 4 weeks. As with any major project, there were hiccups along the way, but Callen handled all of them with professionalism and customer focus. Our bathroom turned out better than we could have expected. We are very pleased with Janell's design and the project team's skills. We will likely be remodeling our kitchen in a couple years, and will definitely call in Callen to propose a design. They're a little expensive, but I believe you get what you pay for.
