Stu's Flooring

They were a very professional company. The day that they finished the flooring I went to go see how it looked and it was the wrong flooring. They were very apologetic for the mistake and they fixed it right away.

There was virtually no disruption at all. They cleaned everything up immediately. We really appreciated that.

The salesman at the Loomis Rd location was not particularly personable, but did show carpets that were within my desired price range and kept his appointments to measure the rooms. As long as he was there, he was asked about flooring for the kitchen, (suggestions, options, pros and cons of different materials, etc). He did not seem receptive to being asked and was of little help, basically saying whatever you decide they d do. He was going to do a follow-up call to confirm the availability of the selected carpet for the measured rooms and schedule the installation of the first floor bedrooms but that follow-up call never occurred. I stopped by the store on the way home from work and no one (meaning no customers and no salespeople) was in the store. After about 10 minutes, a sales person appeared and said it was up to the installer to schedule the work. The installer did call me the next day and was able to schedule the work at a time convenient for me. The two jobs were done by two separate installers, assumed to be subcontractors. Both were professional and finished the work in timely manner. All the rooms were recently painted and any damage from the installation was within what could be reasonably expected. One installer in particular seemed knowledgeable and efficient and I would consider hiring him for another flooring job (without having to go through Stu s). Because the pricing was more reasonable than other places and the installations went well, they might be hired again, despite the poor sales service. The better grades for Stu's are for price and the installers, while the poorer grades reflect the salesmanship. They would be hired again only on price and only if I already knew what I wanted since the salespeople seemed so disinterested and unhelpful.

At the initial meeting with Ray, I mentioned the previous floor was glued down around the perimeter of the room, but the rest of the floor was removed. He suggested I speak with the person that schedules the measurement. I mentioned the perimeter issue when Dan called to schedule the measure, he said not to worry about it, they would just float that out, it wouldn't take them very long at all. Again, I asked about the price of dealing with the perimeter when Ray called me with the estimate, he said it was such a minor thing, they would throw it in for nothing. They did come for the measurement when they said they would. I accepted the estimate and scheduled the installation. They did not float out the perimeter, so now you can see a visible ridge all the way around the room, where the old flooring is under the new flooring. I called Stu's and they sent an installer back to look at the job. My tenant informed me that the installer expressed that he did not know what to do to remedy the situation short of laying down a new sub floor. I have not heard back from Stu's and I have left a message for Ray to contact me. So far I have left two messages for Ray, and both times, he has not returned my call. I am very surprised at the level of service considering all of the good experiences other Angie's List members have had. I would like Stu's to re-install the floor the way I was told they would to begin with. Stu's did return twice more. They sent a capable crew the last time, they removed the new flooring, then removed what was left of the original floor, and correctly installed a completely new piece of flooring. Now it looks like a professional installation. I am glad that Stu's was able to finally complete the job correctly, however, it took three visits after the initial installation to get it right. I was never offered any compensation for my trouble.

Since I will be moving and wanted to replace the carpeting in these well used rooms - I stopped in the store and explained what I was looking for to Russ. He was very helpful - they had already been out earlier that day to take measurements so he knew how much would be needed for the job. When we couldn't find enough in the remnants (which were great) he found several samples that would actually only cost me 8cents more a sq yard - He was very patient while I keep checking out the samples and even made some recommendations. I took the samples home to see how they compared to the old carpet and made my decision. I needed to have some painting done first and they just said to call when I was ready. Once I called they scheduled and were able to install the carpeting within a few days. The guys that came to do the work were very nice and professional. There was some discussion on the width of a nap lock needed for the door to the family room - and I appreciated their recommendation. I had to leave for another appointment before they were done, but they cleaned up and locked up while I was gone. The original estimate had included moving furniture, but since I had done that myself the bill was adjusted. I am very pleased with the carpeting and wish I had had it replaced sooner so I could enjoy it more - the new padding and everything makes walking on it great...the pile and texture will hold up well for the next family and I am sure they will enjoy it for many years.

A salesman called me and said it would cost $2700 to put in the floor. I told them "absolutely not!" The price of the materials would only cost $132. Not only was their price bad, but their attitude was as well.

We were very please with their service especially with the installers who were very personable and professional. We had some furniture that was being redone and they were very considerate of scheduling. They did charge us $225 just to move furniture which seemed a bit excessive.

They do what they say they are going to do and provide no surprises. The workers show up on time and are friendly and professional. They do all this work at a reasonable price. If we ever have any problems, they are very responsive and come out quickly to fix them. We will continue to use them. We would recommend them as well.

This was a simple job. We took a few (flooring) samples, found the one we wanted & had them put it in. We would use them again.

Nancy was very knowledgeable and steered us to the best type of carpet for our needs ( a heavy traffic area). The installers were very professional and did a great job, they even fixed a baggy area in an adjoining bedroom carpet at no charge. We are very happy with the whole process and would recommend Stu's to anyone.

From the first person I called, Stus was very polite and professional with me. Russ (from the Loomis store) was patient and answered all of my questions. He sent his nephew out to measure the area. He was prompt (said 8:00 am, there at 8:02!) and quick with the measuring. I needed to choose the flooring I wanted before they could give me an accurate quote. I went into their showroom in Waukesha and was helped by salesperson. He was friendly and helpful. I found what I was looking for and they allowed me to bring home a sample to see how it would look in my house. After I ordered it, they gave me a quote. It was a bit more than I was expecting, but it was worth it. The floor looks great. They finished it with the molding and stretched the carpet so it looks like it belongs there. The serviceman that came out was prompt, professional and did a wonderful job. He was a bit short on quarter round, so they had someone out the next day to finish (it only took 10 minutes).

The salesperson was very helpful and personable. Staff came to measure at a time that was mutually agreed upon. The installers came an hour later than expected. The original contract, sent to our home after the measurements were taken, listed the wrong color. This error was brought to their attention and corrected very easily. We're very happy with our new carpeting.

Staff was courteous from start to finish. The staff helped with choices and gave opinions on what to expect from each carpet. We were able to take samples home and with the expectation we would take reasonable time to choose color and style. After choosing the carpet, staff was honest with expectations and time frames for completion. They continued to be receptive to successive phone calls to check on how project was proceeding. Carpet is beautiful. Binding done with superior quality when compared with other bindings that we have had done. We are thoroughly satisfied with the service and carpet we received.

THEY DID ALL THE THINGS THAT THEY SAID THEY WOULD DO, WHICH IS VERY IMPORTANT TO ME. THEIR WORK WAS ALSO VERY SATISFACTORY WHICH IS WHY I REFER THEM.

Since we were having the whole house carpeted, we had to deal with all our furniture and they helped us in planning how to do it, helped move a few things that remained, let us use their "coasters" to move stuff back, and did the job over two days. The carpeting and their work are beautiful and they left the place clean, vacuuming the entire house.

John was a helpful and knowledgeable salesman. Measurement by Jason was professional. Carpet arrived within a week, then installation was scheduled in a timely fashion. Hector and his son did an excellent job on installation. Very experienced and great suggestions.

They were great. They are the best installers I've ever had work on our property. They were clean too.

After getting the estimate which took about 3 days, I went to the store to pick a color and the the job was done about 5 working days after that. The carpet was from a truck sale, so the price was low, but the carpeting was excellent. The installers were about 2 hours late but they finished by the end of the day and they did a great job. Overall, I am extremely pleased with the price of the job, the quality of the carpeting and the quality of the installation. The delays in receiving the estimate and installation could have been shorter. The cost was over $1000 less for better carpeting than Empire.

The installers were friendly and professional. The installation appears flawless. The company backs its installation with a "lifetime limited warranty." They had to come back a few days later to install some trim to cover the subfloor on the edges of step-downs, i.e., basement stair, door out to garage and stepdown to family room.

The installation team arrived slightly late but worked hard and steadily throughout the day finishing in the afternoon. They even helped remove and return a heavy exercise machine that I was unable to move myself. The sales force was very helpful without being pushing or high pressure. We are completely satisfied with the job.

It went very well. The crew that did the work was especially friendly and polite, and went out of their way to solve little problems that cropped up.

I was very pleased with Stu's. I picked out samples on a Sunday, they measured the next day, and a week later we had our beautiful new floor. This project was so easy and affordable.

Gary the sales rep that we dealt with was wonderful. He listened to my needs and gently guided me with suggestions. He was very patient with my many return trips to collect and drop off samples. The selection at Stus is fairly extensive. The installers were prompt, courteous, and professional. I was very pleased with how they handled issues specific to my 50 year old house. I was worried about a few things that they made look easy. 2 separate crews did the installation, one for the laminate and one for the carpet. They played their radio at a reasonable volume, worked hard, and cleaned up after themselves as they progressed. I was kept fully apprised of there progress and any need reschedule. Gary also followed up with a call to make sure everything was completed to my satisfaction.
