We have needed new carpeting for at least a couple of years, but it covers such a large percentage of our living space, that moving every piece of furniture, including bookcases, entertainment center, computer and accessories, not to mention the tropical fish tank, was just too much to absorb at first. We had already viewed Stu's reports on Angie's List and had visited the store many months before we were finally ready to proceed. This time we took one quick look at the new reports on the List and paid another visit to the store. They let us take several samples home for a few days so we could see the colors in our own home. We made a decision and ordered carpet on Sunday, September 25. We were told that we would be called in a few days when the carpet was on its way so we could schedule installation. We waited more than 2 weeks. I finally called the store, and was informed that the carpet had been back-ordered and was being shipped that very day. Because it takes my husband a week to get a day off approved, we scheduled installation for the following week, October 20. The installers arrived on time that morning, removed the old stuff, cleaned the floor and installed the new pad and carpet. They did a lovely job, and it is a vast improvement from what we had.
Description of Work: The installed new carpeting on our living room, dining room, office, hallway and closet. They also removed and disosed of the old carpet and pad.

From the moment I walked into the Waukesha location and met their salesperson, it was clear this company is built on good customer service. I told him what I wanted to do and he showed me a whole bunch of samples and let me take home as many samples as I could fit in my car. These were not the small samples you pay 0.99 for at the "box stores" but rather the big samples the store uses in their displays. We made an appointment for him to come out the next week (on my next day off) and measure, he came out right when he said he would and took measurements. He called me right away the next day and gave me an estimate. I decided to go ahead with the project and called the salesperson to let him know. He ordered the product and told me it would take a day or two to get it in. During this time, I decided to save some money and tear out the old carpet, pad and tackstrip myself as well as take off the baseboards so I could re-stain them. When I ripped out the carpet, I discovered that the half inch accoustical concrete under the carpet (over the main structural floor) was so badly crumbled, it needed to be fixed before new flooring could do down. I called my salesperson and told him of my problem and he said it was no problem and that he would store my new floor while I took care of the problem. After my condo association put down a new subfloor (apparently, this is a known problem in other units in my complex), the installers came out the same week to install my product. They worked for a day and half and got it completed right before the weekend. The only two problems that arose were the stair nose treads for the vinyl were too short to completely cover the front of the stairs (stairs were measured while the carpet was still on) and I needed one more transition strip to complete the deal. The problem was taken care of right away and the treads were special ordered and a transition strip was ordered and they were installed the next week. The product at Stu's is a bit more expensive than at the box stores, but I believe you get what you pay for. The whole process took about a month, but that was due to other projects I needed to complete first. If not for these other projects, it would have been done in a matter of a week or two. I have only had the flooring for a week now but so far I am extremely happy how it looks, it completely transformed my condo. The installers were really nice and worked while I was at work and stayed until past 7pm on a Friday night to complete it because I was told it would be done, so that was great. My salesperson could not have been any more helpful and attentive to my project. He always returned phone calls and followed up with me often during the install to see how it was going. He was always on top of things, even calling me while I was talking to the installers about the nose tread problem letting me know he was already working on ordering longer treads. So far basically all I have had to do was pay Stu's for the job and enjoy my new floor. As long as no major problems arise, I will definately call Stu's again for my future flooring needs.
Description of Work: I visited Stu's to put laminate flooring down in my living room, dining room, kitchen and hallway. I also needed them to put vinyl down on stairs, top and bottom stairway landings and my bathroom. I tossed around the idea of buying it at a home improvement store and doing it myself but decided to have it done professionally.

The whole process was very fast, compared to other installers that usually make you wait weeks. Their showroom was very nice and well organized. I didn't want to get overwhelmed, so I made my choice very quickly. But if you are the type of person that likes to see all the options available, this is the place for you. The sales person was very nice, accommodating and timely. The installer was very good. I appreciated that he explained what he was doing. He fixed our landing, including the squeaks. He was very professional, cleaned up before he left and answered all my questions. Stu's is probably not the cheapest place you can go, but we would rather pay a bit more to have the job done right. I would definitely recommend them.

I called for an estimate and they came out the next day. The room was measured along with my kitchen because I mentioned I wanted to do that room in the near future. I took endless samples home. They are very good with letting you take samples home. Once I decided, the floor was put in within a week. After a few days I decided I wanted a shoe molding to go around the room. They came out within a few days and installed one, charging me only 35.00. It was a great experience from start to finish.

I went to the store to look thru their samples and they are very good about letting you take them home. I took very many home before I made up my mind. They already had my kitchen's measurements from a previous time they came out when they did another room. After I decided what I wanted, it was installed within a week. They are very careful in moving the refrigerator and stove so not to scratch the floor. They cleaned up afterwards. A threshold piece in the doorway came loose after 1 day and they had men out right away to fix it. It's been fine since then. They send out thank you cards and comment cards which is a nice touch.

The installer came right on time and was very professional about what needed to get done. Neither my husband nor myself could stay home from work that day, so the installer worked in our home while we were gone. When we returned in the evening, he was just finishing up. I had anticipated a bad smell in the house from the new vinyl flooring, but that did not occur. The floor was laid down just as I wanted it, and the overall effect of the pattern is great.
Description of Work: STU's Flooring was great in helping us pick out a flooring and for their actual installation. They had the best price and were quick to install our new kitchen and hallway vinyl floor. The work was done professionally and quickly in one day. The floor looks great! We are very pleased with the quality of the product they sold us, as well as the perfectionalism of the installation. We recommend STU's for any flooring needs.

The entire experience was excellent. Debi helped me pick out the carpet that was the best type for a home with pets. The installers showed up right on time and went about the removal and installation in a very professional manner. They also moved my piano and sofa, which was an extra benefit. They completed the job in just over an hour. The carpet looked wonderful and everything was neat and clean. I would definitely use Stu's again in the future for any flooring needs.

They have all the samples in the store. My wife went out, checked all the samples and picked the one she liked. They ordered it for us and called us when it was in, and we went and picked it up. We are in the process of installing it - they are not involved in the installation. They have a couple of locations in the area. We would use them again in the future if necessary.
Description of Work: We are installing a cork floor ourselves, and we bought our supplies from Stu’s Flooring Ltd.
They were awesome. We got them from Angie's List database. We used them out of the Waukesha location. They were wonderful. They were professional and they were willing to stay and answer all my questions. They didn't seem to be in a hurry. They protected all their feet in whatever they needed to be on the floor to protect it. They were prompt and polite. They did wonderful.
Description of Work: Stu's Flooring tore up and replaced our kitchen, laundry room, hallways, living room, and all bedrooms flooring. The kitchen was tiled. Part of the living room and hallway was hardwood floor. The bedrooms and the rest of the living room were all carpeting. The ripped up the old, took it all out, and put down the new.

They are excellent. I know for certain that they fastidiously keep their Angie's List rating high and I think that's one of their most significant marketing efforts. It obviously worked; I went there because of how they were rated and we used them and they were very good. They went as far as to say that they'll actually turn jobs down if they don't feel that they can do a good job because they don't want to have a dirty Angie's List rating. It's very important to them. They are one of the few because after doing that we didn't have money left to do much and also the home warranty with the house that really dictates that we go to certain providers and so I haven't been to Angie's List in a while because I know that if we've got something with the electrical or some other mechanical issues in the house, we've got to go to certain providers. It was a big project and they had it done within a week. It was really amazing. It took coordination of materials because they obviously had 3 different people that they were getting things from and there was enough carpeting required that they had to order basically a new lot made especially for the project because there wasn't enough in the warehouse to do the project. They started with the hard surfaces and did the carpeting last. It was 2 different crews because the carpeting crew was different than the people that laid the hardwood and the tile. I think the one guy they outsourced to was the hard surface people. He and his crew were really good and wonderful. Its all they do and I think that's why Stu uses them because they essentially kind of specialize in the kind of hardwood and tile we put in. So they subcontracted them and they did a fantastic job. They also guarantee the work and I think it's a lifetime warranty on the work.
Description of Work: We used Stu's Flooring for an extensive project. We moved into a new home and we really replaced every flooring surface in the whole house. They did hardwood flooring, put in carpeting and they put in tiles in October.

I selected Stu's based on the reviews I found on Angie's list. I did not shop around. With carpeting my assumption is that the brand you select will be manufactured the same way no matter where you buy it. The critical piece in selecting a store is the service and the installation. Stu's reviewers on Angie's list all seemed very happy with the service they received. I will add to those accolades! I went into Stu's with a color sample and explained that I have an 85 lb labrador and two cats with claws. I need a carpeting that will stand up to them! The salesman, Dean, immediately took me to a color board for Smartstrand Carpeting (made from corn) which had a color that looked exactly like what I wanted. After reviewing the durability and stain resistance of this carpet (I saw on an online site that it was installed in an elephant cage for 3 weeks and still cleaned up and looked good with only steam - after shoveling of course!) we took several samples and a color board home. Another board we were interested in was already checked out but he said he would call us when it came in. A couple of days later Dean called and made an appointment to bring the board toour house and get measurements. We ended up choosing the color he had shown us in the store and one other one for the first floor. He emailed us a quote the very next day. We made our down payment over the phone with a credit card . Less than 2 weeks after we first went to the store our new carpeting was installed. The installation took an entire day. The crew arrived promptly at a little after 8 AM and left around 7 PM. The work was done beautifully and we were very relieved that they were able to finish as we had overnight guests arriving the next day -- who would be sleeping in one of the bedrooms being carpetted. The crew was very professional and didn't skimp on attention to detail. There was never any question that they were going to stay as long as it took to get the job done. This was a very satisfactory experience and I am very pleased with the result. Because I didn't shop around, I didn't feel I could automatically give them an A for price. I feel that I paid a fair price for what I got. Was it the best price? I don't really know but the service was excellent.
Description of Work: Installed new carpeting and padding in living room, stairway, large upstairs hallway, and two bedrooms (one the master). Also removed all of the old carpeting and padding from the same areas.

They were fabulous. We went with them because of their Angie's List rating. I believe I got a good deal. Their work had to be exquisite to go along with the remodel. There were six doors leading into the space, so they had to make the floor match up to all of the openings. They did that extremely well. It was all precision, precision. They had beautiful craftsmanship and cleanup. It's the floor of my dreams! I've wanted a floor that looked like a painting my entire life, but I didn't want marble that's cold and that I could slip on. They came up with the Silestone product, which I didn't know about. It has tooth to it, so if it gets wet you don't slip on it. It looks gorgeous. I would not have known about this, and I have a friend who is an interior designer. We were both impressed. They even helped us move the refrigerator so it didn't damage the new floor. They go above and beyond. In fact, when he came back to pick something up he didn't like my register grate, which was the only one I had that would fit. He went out to his truck and installed it for a nominal fee like $10, which was less than I would have paid for the grate itself. They are really just super.
Description of Work: They replaced our composite tile floor with grout. They had to come in two different times before the whole kitchen remodel. First they had to rip out the old floor, then they had to put in a new subfloor before we could do the final finishing of the kitchen. They had to work with the other company. They laid everything in a 45 degree angle checkerboard pattern.

Dean, the salesperson, provided excellent suggestions that met requirements for cost and quality, and provided measurements on a Sunday evening, which was extremely convenient. I had obtained one additional pricing offer for comparible product and installation, with Stu's estimated less expensive by approximately $400 or about 10%. The estimate and final amount paid were exactly the same amounts. The installation team was prompt and courteous, with special mention to Eric who was very customer oriented. The team completed this rather large project in a single day, and did an excellent job of cleaning up. The carpeting is beautiful, and has tranformed our 'dated' 80's style house. One additional note: I had forgotten to request for a doorway trim piece to be installed during the initial installation. Dan from Stu's promptly followed up. Eric, the installer performed this taks on his day off, which was very impressive.
Description of Work: The project entailed replacing 20+ year old carpeting and pad in a family room, living room, 3 bedrooms with closets, hallway and 2nd flooring landing areas.

Sales person was helpful in selecting product and pattern. Install team was late the first day, because dispatch staff gave them incorrect address. Install team was late the second day, because team members didn't communicate clearly. Otherwise, work was done efficiently and professionally. We had been told by salesperson that the floor would be clean and ready to use upon completion. However, installers informed us it was necessary to clean the floor with vinegar/water solution, in order to remove excess grout and seal the surface.

The service men from Stu's arrived at the time scheduled. They moved all the heavy bedroom furniture they needed to completely re-stretch the bedroom carpeting that had developed creases from bathroom/shower moisture over the past several years. They were very quick and were done in a half hour about half the time we thought it would take. We are very happy. The carpeting now looks almost new again and sits completely flat.

Everyone at Stu's was helpful from selecting the correct carpet and pad to providing us with information about hardwood flooring they did not even carry. The staining work they did on the quarter round and wooden replacement vents was perfect. The installation was performed quickly but with great care. A surprise was discovered during the install. We had particle board instead of plywood subfloors. The builders of our home used plywood only on the perimeter of the floors. Thus, all the particle board had to be torn out to correctly install the hardwood. Stu's only charged us labor and material costs for this work with no up charge. All minor corrections after the install were performed quickly and without complaint. We did not purchase our hardwood flooring from Stu's. (I wish we could have.) In fact, they told us we were getting a great deal on the product we purchased from a competitor. This in itself speaks volumes about the professionalism and integrity of Stu's Flooring! When we replace the flooring on the second floor, Stu's will receive our business.

I was very happy with everything from the first visit in the showroom to the installation. The young man in the showroom was helpful and I was able to take home samples of various products. They did a beautiful job and completed it in less than a day. I was so happy when I came home to a beautiful new floor. They cleaned up well after the work and I really liked the trim they put down around the floor. I could not be happier!. I will definitely be calling them for the next flooring replacement in my house.
Description of Work: Stu's Flooring removed my old family room carpeting and installed a new laminate floor in its place.
Sales experience was fine. Not sure about the price - maybe somewhere between an "A" and a "B." The best thing about the experince was the primary installer, who was professional, courteous, and seemed to take pride in his work. You can have the best product and the best sales people in the world, but none of that means anything if you don't have good people doing the installation, and we happened to get a good one. We are quite happy w/ the finished product.

Stu's made this remodeling project so much easier for me. After my first call, Stu's scheduled a time to come out and measure at my convenience. While here, they checked to see if there was anything else I might need. Management did an excellent job at estimating the quality carpet for my price range. I really wasn't sure what I wanted to do with carpeting the condo. There was an existing Berber carpet that just did not fit for me. I knew I wanted to replace it with something, but had no idea what. Stu's really worked with me extensively over time. They allowed me to take many different samples to assist with my selection. Sales and Management offered me many different options, always keeping in mind the price range I could afford. I was finally able to narrow my selection to a light color pile that would wear well. After spending much additional time with me, Sales and Management were able to offer me a selection that was recently acquired by the store. It was the light color I was looking for, very good quality pile with StainMaster. I was really happy they found something I really liked. It took a lot of effort and time on their part. Once I selected the carpet, it was promptly ordered and available at the store before I was prepared to have it installed. Stu's held the order for me until I could have it installed. They told me they only needed a few days notice to do the installation. And that's exactly how it played out. I expressed a concern to management that the condo had been freshly painted and had new base boards. I was assured that the concern would be passed on to the installers. And it was. The carpet was installed without any flaws or impact to the freshly painted walls and new baseboards. I had a somewhat unique challenge trying to find a transition piece between the carpet and a newly installed hard woo flooring. I searched many retailers to find the right transition piece with no luck. I called and talked with Stu's about this dilema. They had the perfect solution. They would build the transition piece, cut and stained to customization. What a relief! After the carpet was installed I was surprised to see that it had all been freshly vacummed. I intended to call Stu's to verify the fresh vacumm service, but just didn't get around to it. I was just very happy with how it looked. Because I had selected such a light color, I was concerned about how I could add color to each of the rooms. When I called sales, they were very helpful with giving me a lot of ideas and suggestions. I wouldn't be able to end here without saying that I have always relied on Stu's for my carpeting needs. And some past needs were extremely challenging for them. But they always came through. And in addition, I've always been rewarded with a great price for having been a preferred customer.

The installer arrived on time and proceeded to complete the work quickly and throughly. After he finished, we did have a problem with the esthetics of the floor--we had selected a vinyl floor that looks like tile and had grout lines. As we have an old house, our walls are very out of square, so the grout lines on the floor looked very crooked. We called the company and the owner came out the next day, and agreed it did not look appropriate. They ordered a new piece of vinyl and re-installed the floor a week later. The one thing I learned was to be more specific before having work done, explain the results you want so there are no questions or miscommunications. Even though we had a problem, they were very professional about the whole process and stood behind their work, so I would use this company again in the future.
Description of Work: Repaired subfloor in bathroom, replaced vinyl bathroom floor, installed base molding in bathroom and in kitchen.
