Solatube Brighter Concepts Ltd

Installer arrived a few minutes early. Installer was very professional, with a sense of humor. He put drop cloths down to prevent making a mess, cleaned up afterwards. He was knowledgeable about system and the installing the system and made very good recommendations/options. Very fast, experienced so he knew what he was doing. It was a very nice experience. We will be having him back at a later date to do additional work.

All went well, but the day before the time of arrival was changed to later, so we could not pick the different users in strong daylight conditions.

On time, a little under budget and the entire install was extremely clean and everything was picked up and removed.

Brighter concepts installed one solar "tube" skylight with included vent fan unit in each of our two bathrooms. Neither room has a window, so we wanted to bring in additional light. We also wanted to upgrade the bathroom fan "power" from the builder "basic" model in our home. The units with the vent kits were perfect. Our service tech, Frank, arrived on time, and spent the better part of a full day installing the units. He even had to clear our a bird's nest in one of our existing vent fan lines. He listened to our requests to install the units low enough on the rear roof line that they would not be visible from the front of the home, even though that meant a slightly longer "run" of tubing. We have been very happy with the results. The fans are powerful, yet quiet. The tubes provide lots of extra light, so much so, that we almost never have to turn on the electric lights, sometimes even in the moonlight! We would definitely use this company again.

IT WENT VERY SMOOTHLY. THE TECH ARRIVED ON TIME. AFTER GOING OVER THE DIFFERENT PRODUCTS AVAILABLE, IT WAS DETERMINED WHAT PRODUCTS TO INSTALL. THE PRODUCTS WERE PROFESSIONALLY INSTALLED AND MODIFIED WITH SOFTENING LENSES TO CREATE THE CORRECT ROOM LIGHT.

When we added a sunroom off the kitchen we ended up reducing the sunlight into the kitchen, requiring lights to be on in the morning. Although I was aware of Solatubes, I had never investigated them. I contacted Brighter Concepts because they are certified solatube installers. Through the years I have learned that certified installers are always the best way to go. My initial phone conversation with them answered all my questions and provided an estimate of the cost. We set a date and their installer showed up on time. The installation went well. The installer covered all the surfaces and kept me informed of what he was doing as the installation progressed. He also had a great sense of humor! The difference in the kitchen with the two Solatubes is unbelievable! The only problem is trying to turn the lights off when they aren't even on! I would use Brighter Concepts and Solatubes in the future without a doubt. And seriously, go with the company that has certified installers.

Installer frank was informative and efficient and cleaned. Up after installation. He did an excellent.

Frank covered the floor, measured the room to find center, drilled a hole in ceiling, then drilled a hole on the roof and installed the solar tube. Lastly, he put on the cover. Looks great!

A word about solar tubes in general. Our solar tube doesn't let in quite the full frequency of light in the morning and evenings (due to the angle of the light coming in maybe?). At any rate, the light is very white like a florescent light (or light on an overcast day). In the middle of the day when the sun is coming straight down it looks more like what you would get with a window. That said, I am very happy with our choice. It definitely brings more light to a very dark corner of my kitchen and unless I'm cooking I don't need to turn on the overhead light as much.

The process went very well. The installer, Frank, was prompt, courteous, very informative, and efficient. The work went as promised, and he cleaned up when he was finished. We are very happy with the results, and I would recommend their products and services.

I had an upstairs bathroom without a window (I used to refer to it as 'the black hole') so I had a Solatube installed, it's been nothing short of amazing. Not only does it bring light into the space but, it's a great money saver! During the daylight hours I seldem have to turn on my five bulb light bar on and, even after dark, it acts as a night light from the moonlight that comes through it. I absolutely love it and think it was worth ever penny! The technician was very courteous and walked me through the whole process and answered my questions before he started doing any work. Before installing the included light defuser he showed me the upgrades (at an additional cost) but, when I stuck with the basic defuser he didn't try to 'push' me into selecting an upgrade. He also, cleaned up any of the construction debris that was created during the process.

Came out quickly, explained best position of tube placement, performed work quickly and professionally.

Bogdan was good humored, a rapid & neat worker - we are very satisfied with his suggestions as to best placement.

Frank was courteous, and did exactly the work I wanted.

The whole process went well. We are extremely satisfied with the results in illuminating dark rooms in our home. Guests are amazed at the difference.

The workmanship was very good. The problem was with the cost. When the work was scheduled I was told the cost would be $295 complete and that there would be no additional charges. The job took longer than expected and as a result I was charged 33% more. I called the company to express my dissatisfaction because I believe it's poor business and poor customer service to not honor a firm price quote when a job takes longer than expected. I was told there would be an investigation about what went wrong with the communication, but no one got back to me - however they did cash my check (for the larger amount). Now I wish I had made out the check for $295 and not for $394. In my opinion this is a dishonest company. 8/10/2011: Today I received a letter from a co-owner of Brighter Concepts and a refund check for $99. The letter explained where their internal problem occurred re: the erroneous price quote given to me, and their conclusion that I should not be responsible for the extra cost. I appreciate the company making this right. 12/6/2012: Rating scores updated to reflect resolution noted above (8/10/2011).

Great. See above. Frank was personable and efficient, cleaning up after the work. The solatube was worth it! What a difference it makes in a room that was dark due to a big overhang.

House is 1.5 years old. Requested Solatube brand solar light from builder. Builder didn't listen and put in the Vellux brand, which he got from Menards. Builder didn't install correct tubing and it never worked - was more like a night light than a light. Solatube changed out the unit, put in the correct dome on the roof and the correct tubing and we have TONS of light! Can't believe it - what a difference! Absolutely amazing! Installer Frank was nice and professional and kept things covered and clean. All I had to do was vacuum when he left. Don't waste your money on a DIY brand, they don't work properly or reflect light as well as Solatube brand. I ended paying for this twice. Once from the builder and once to correctly have it done. Brighter Concepts would have all A's except that when I called to make the appointment, the owner said he was 5 minutes from his office and would call me right back - well I waited for a week for him to call me back and then had to call again myself to set the appt. and he was out of the office for a week. But when I did call a manager took care of everthing and got me set. Everything went fine from there. GREAT product.

2 installers finished the work in less than 75 minutes for both skylights. They covered the areas below the proposed installation site, and collected all the debris on tarps then removed them from my home. Since one of the skylights was over a staircase, there was just a little drywall that was left on the stairs after they left. A vacuum made short order of the debris & I was very pleased with the installation overall. The installers were very personable and professional. I paid less than I expected to pay because there is a charge for a longer tube. I only needed one 4' tube and one 2' tube. I had budgeted for a 4' and a 6' tube, so was pleased the final price was lower.

They were excellent. We had light in our kitchen within two hours. They were very neat, friendly and very professional.

They came out for free estimate and were able to schedule installation within a months time. Installers were very friendly and knowledgeable. They were in and out within a few hours and they cleaned up all their mess. Love the new lighting. It seems like the lights are on all of the time now and it has added a lot more natural light into some areas that were pretty dark before.

They were helpful, prompt, courteous, pleasant and they cleaned up. Their product is wonderful and I have since had two more installed.

THE INSTALLER WAS EVERYTHING YOU'D WANT. KNOWLEDGEABLE, FRIENDLY AND ON TIME. KEPT AREA COVERED WHEN WORKING. TOOK ALL DEBRIS ALONG WITH HIM. WE HAD TO DO A QUICK CLEANING AND REARRANGING OF ATTIC ITEMS. VERY HAPPY WITH THE AMOUNT OF LIGHT THE TUBE LETS IN AND LOOK OF FIXTURE IN CEILING. WOULD USE THIS CO. AGAIN IF EVER NEED ANOTHER SKY TUBE PUT IN. THOUGHT TUBES A LITTLE PRICY BUT WHEN THE FINISHED PRODUCT INSTALLED WORTH THE PRICE AND GUARANTEE OF TEN YEARS GOES WITH THE HOUSE IF WE EVER MOVE.

THIS COMPANY WAS VERY NEAT WHEN THEY INSTALLED THE SOLATUBE SKYLIGHT. IT DID NOT TAKE VERY LONG. WE ARE VERY PLEASED WITH THE RESULTS. I HAD ADDED A LOT OF LIGHT TO OUR KITCHEN. THEY WERE PROFESSIONAL.
