Description of Work: We registered for $29.00 service call rate and inspection of plumbing on Angies list. We needed a instant hot water heater removed from under our kitchen sink to be repaired. We wanted a water filter added to the cold water in the bathroom and we needed an estimate to replace a cracked sewer pipe. We had informed the plumber of these requests when we called to schedule the appointment. The plumber that came out was not able to shut off the water supply to the water heater. He stated that the type of water supply was no longer legal and that if he replaced the shut off he would have to replace all the water supply to our sink because it was not up to the present code. He was unable to give us an estimate for the sewer pipe, verbally stated it would take 2 people 8hours at $100.00 per hour each to dig the pipe up outside and then more to replace the actual pipe. He recommended a whole house water filter instead of the one in the bathroom because it would be easier to install but did not have any or an estimate of how much it would cost. He then spent a few minutes looking at the plumbing in the basement and under the sinks, never turning on the faucets or flushing a toilet. We were charged $50.00 for trying to shut off the water and 7.50 for fuel charge which I guess is not part of the 29.00 service call charge. We paid a total of $90.00 and did not receive any service

Description of Work: We were using an Angie's List Big Deal coupon which was $29 for a $149 total home plumbing inspection. I called for the appt & got one the very next day. Chris arrived within the scheduled time frame. We discussed work we needed done in addition to the inspection, and he explained the payment scale up front so we had no surprises. He repaired 2 toilets that had been running on their own in between flushes. During the inspection, he noted a gas leak that someone else had taped up. He shut off the gas, repaired the leak, and turned on the gas again. He worked quickly & efficiently so we wouldn't incur anymore charges than necessary. We were pleased with his work and the fact that he was able to repair the gas leak we didn't even know was there.
