AB & K Affordable Bath & Kitchen

Our experience with them was very good. We didn't live here at the time, but the workers that came in were nice and we had no problems with anything.

They were good and I was happy with their work. The designer was helpful, she gave us some good suggestions and she did not push their products on us. They did not finish the job on time but it was not a problem. They were neat and clean. They came back as I had a problem about not allowing my Platos and they fixed it. They were expensive but their service was great.

They showed up on time. They were very good workers. They were very clean. They worked hard and quickly. They gave me an estimate and stayed within the estimate.

The end result was great, but the project management, coordination, and scheduling left something to be desired. I had to follow up with them too much on getting things done as far as dates and time. The designer from that company did do a really good job.

It was favorable. They provided excellent service and they have good quality material. Jill Ross, the sales person I dealt with, had extensive knowledgeable and was pleasant to deal with.

Most of the work was fine. One of the cabinets came in a little too deep to fit into an existing alcove, but the installers cut it down to size and it worked. The first countertop had the cut out for the sink wrong and that had to be redone. However, they were able to source a new slab and get the correct installation within 3 days. The big problem was the new flooring. I noticed a BIG gouge in the floor after the first day of installation and the crew did replace that section. However, they put two more gouges in during the next day and those had to be replaced as well. And they really nicked up existing wallpaper while doing the floor installation. In my mind, this was just plain carelessness on the part of the people who did the floor install (AB&K employees).

We are very pleased with the result. The installation went very smoothly and on time. Linda Laabs, our designer, was extremely helpful. The installation was handled by an employee, John, who was very competent. Overall, it was a satisfying experience.

We were disappointed in the estimate they gave us. They gave us a high price, it wasn't a good plan or a good estimate. They were very courteous and they came when they said they would.

All of their work was basically on time from start to finish. Their crew was prompt and professional in their interactions with us. They went out of their way to help us set up a temporary kitchen in our basement by moving our old electric stove downstairs. Although there were a few design flaws and oversights, overall, they did splendid work and our new kitchen, powder room and pantry are wonderful! The countertop is a quartz blend, the flooring is a ceramic blend product and the cabinetry is out of this world. If we encountered a problem during the process (which took less than five weeks), they quickly worked to solve it or come up with a compromise. We highly recommend them to anyone looking for quality workmanship and a well-organized work crew. The only big problem was a scheduling mistake after we received our price quote in April and the original May time frame had to be changed and then we had to delay the work due to a conflict with our summer vacation travel plans.

We talked to numerous contractors, but really liked AB&K. They were not the cheapest, but gave good value for the money. Gary was our salesperson and he was great. He took a picture of our old kitchen and was able to create a computer drawing of just what our new kitchen would look like. This was very helpful and allowed us to visualize our new kitchen. Gary gave us great advice in picking out cabinets sink, hardware, floor, etc. At first I did not agree with his advice, but as we talked more and more I realized that he was right in virtually everything he told us. The work was done as scheduled and the workmen were prompt, polite, and did an excellent job. Cleanup was great and we had no issues whatsoever. I highly recommend AB&K and Gary. We now have a new kitchen and are very pleased with the result.

We went back several time working with the designer with changes we had in mind. Overall, the people we worked with were OK and the quality of their work is OK.

They are just 100%. I have had other remodeling done by other people, but I couldn't even compare the two services. I would use them again in the future.

It was wonderful. They replaced the floor, the cabinets, and the countertops. They replaced almost everything in both rooms. They had great ideas on making my kitchen more functional. They allowed me to have as many appointments with them that I wanted. They took the amount of time that they had said they would. They really did good quality work. Because the kitchen is small, they found many ways to maximize the usable space. There was one work person who I could deal with every day while the others worked. He was wonderful. There were no surprises or cost add-ons. I don't feel like I over payed a penny. They made everything as convenient as possible.

Meetings with Dave attorted a variety of product choices and recommendations within our price range. He listened and met our desires. When work started on time and was finished on time. All deadlines were met and all products were exactly ordered. Michael K. did all the work with the expectations electrical wiring. Michael is an outstanding craftsman. His pride in his fine workmanship is well justified. He is neat organized, very polite and comfortable to have in the house. We would recommend AB & K and Michael to anyone seeking a good remodeling experience.

They were neat and clean. They worked very hard and did their job. They did extra tile work as well and didn't charge me anything additional.

We were visited by sales representative Jill Ross. She entered our home, proceeded to make us feel like our budget of 25,000 was too small for her to waste time on and acted like she was doing the interviewing. She was rude, condescending and unpleasant. I was excited to remodel our kitchen until meeting with her. She left telling me she was going on vacation and would get around to making up a plan when she could. I emailed the owner, Dave Madsen, about my unpleasant encounter with his sales associate and he did not even acknowledge the communication. This is a poorly run business with snooty employees running the show room. I have already found another business who is appreciative of the business and does not make me feel like 25K is a pittance. Even though I live down the road from AB and K, I was willing to travel a distance to find a group with good customer service. I would recommend doing the same to anyone else out there considering using this company. AB and K are unpleasant!

Although there was an initial mix-up with the start date, they completed the work in 10 working days. The workers were all courteous, professional and very clean. They cleaned up each day after finishing their work. Any loose ends at the end of the project were handled promptly. We'll use them again for our next project in the kitchen. The sales person was not a "high pressure, escalate the price," type of sales person. Wendy helped us stay within our budget. The only thing we didn't get but really would have liked was a visual rendering of the plans.

Never even got a bid from the representative who came out to see me. When Lisa came out to look at the kitchen, she wanted to know how much I was willing to spend on this project but wasn't willing to give me an idea of what the cost might be. I even had to call them back after not hearing from them. When I did get Lisa on the phone she said she would call me back in two days to set up an appointment and never did. The conclusion I came to from the poor way I was treated was that Lisa had made a decision that they didn't want my business! This was the first time I used Angie's List.

We found the company on Angie's list and visited their showroom. We met with Gary Zavernik, who helped us refine our plan and provided a rough estimate, Gary later came to our house and we further refined the plan and he provided a firm estimate. We had also visited other contractors but were very impressed with Gary and AB&K and decided to sigh a contract. They provided a timetable which they ultimately met almost to the day. The quality of the work and responsiveness to our few change requests were both outstanding.

Made an appointment for a company representative to come out for an estimate. Their most convenient time required me to take a half day vacation from work. On the day of the appointment, the representative called 15 minutes before she was supposed to show up and asked if she could come a half hour later. (She told my wife she had just left and was on her way). She then called 10 minutes before our new appointment time and informed me she was was unable to make the appointment and wanted to reschedule. I decided to cancel the appointment because the estimate she gave me on the phone was higher than other estimates I received. More importantly, I canceled because of their lack of effort in meeting commitments they make. I figured if it was so hard to show up for an appointment, having them doing any work would probably be a nightmare.

Everyone I dealt with at AB&K was great, at the showroom and in my home. I previously had a very bad experience with another contractor planning to remodel these baths. AB&K owner Dave Madsen basically ''rescued'' me - he offered a great design at a great price and was able to get the work done within my very tight time frame. My main technician, Byron, was wonderful. He worked from 7am to 5pm daily to ensure the work would get done on a timely basis. He offered a number of suggestions on the tile work to make sure everything looked clean and finished. Both Dave Madsen and his wife Molly worked tirelessly with me at the showroom to stay within my budget, but still allow me to get the product I was looking for. They both are a pleasure to work with as are all of their technicians. I would highly recommend AB&K for anyone interested in bathroom remodeling and I thank them again for the beautiful work they did on my bathrooms.

We were very pleased with them. Everyone we dealt with to make our updated bathroom a reality was a pleasure to work with. Our main installer which did the majority of the job was very skilled, worked hard and we felt he took great pride in his craftsmanship. The quality of the products was great. We love the Toto toilet and the new shower. The bathroom as a whole has taken on a spa-like feel that we really enjoy. The job was completed within the estimated time and they were clean and most courteous and respectful of our house. A few minor concerns after the job was completed were addressed without hesitation. We definitely had a positive experience with this remodel and we will use them in the future when we are ready for the kitchen remodel with confidence. We felt they appreciate their customers.

Everyone we dealt with over the project (Linda, Dan, Mark, Steve, and Dan) was nice, honest and very thorough in doing their jobs in a craftsman manner. They discovered a significant structural defect hidden in one of the soffits in the kitchen, which required re-routing plumbing and some actual reconstruction of a few framing members. This issue was handled immediately, even though the city engineer and city building inspector had to be called in for examination to determine the proper remediation technique and both a plumber and carpenter were necessary to complete work. The project is almost complete now and it is almost exactly what we had envisioned when we planned it. It's actually turning out better than we had expected, which is a plesant suprise. The only area we were a bit dissapointed in was the level of daily cleanup. There is a lot of dust during a project of this size! No remodeling project of this scope is easy, but we'd definitely call AB&K again. Thanks!

They did an excellent job. They showed us alternatives; we stayed relatively close to what we expected to pay (and they were concerned about it). They came when they stated they would. It took as long as was estimated. They had more installation glitches than expected, but worked through all and still came in on time. The end result was that the job looks really well done. They cleaned up every night as well.

The work performed was excellent but it was TOO EXPENSIVE for what we got. The designer was pushy and got upset when we didn't want to spend 200% over our budget. When we narrowed the scope of the project to meet out budget - So we could get luxury we instead got budget but paid for luxury.
