Description of Work: Originally planned to buy vinyl for basement rec room floor. Measured and scheduled. Then installation crew determined that they could not install the vinyl flooring for various reasons, which was very disappointing. Changed to carpet. Installation was done well and project cleaned up. Have used Malkins for other projects and would go to again.

Description of Work: Malkins installed carpeting in 3 bedrooms, hall, family room and computer room. Also installed vinyl in the bathroom. Overall did a nice job. I wanted some speaker wire laid along the tack strip which the sales people said could not be done but the installation people said no problem. Glad they were able to accommodate my wishes. My neighbor recommended Malkins to me and I would also.

Description of Work: We worked with Malkin's when we remodeled three years ago. We were very pleased with their prices, their service and their professionalism. Recently, our dog dug a hole in one of the carpets. We called Debra at Malkin's and asked for help (she had been our saleswoman previously.) She said that it probably could be repaired, and sent out a repairman who used a small piece of the left-over carpet to repair it. Because the carpet had been down for a while, he "aged" the piece before installing it. We are unable to find exactly where he placed the new piece. The repairman was prompt, pleasant, and obviously very skilled.

MY EXPERIENCE WITH MALKIN'S WAS PLEASANT. AND MY NEW FLOOR LOOKS GREAT. THE SALESPEOPLE AND INSTALLERS WERE PLEASANT AND PROFESSIONAL. I ONLY HAD TO HAVE THEM COME BACK ONCE TO REPLACE A STRIP (NOT SURE WHAT THE CORRECT TERM IS FOR THIS PIECE) BETWEEN THE FLOOR AND MY LIVING ROOM CARPET SO THE TRANSITION IN FLOORING WAS SMOOTHER AND LESS BULKY. I COMPARED PRICES WITH SOME OF THE BIG HOME IMPROVEMENT/HARDWARE STORES IN THE AREA, AND MALKIN'S WAS VERY COMPARABLE.

WE DID NOT GO WITH MALKIN'S. THE SALESPERSON I WORKED WITH WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO TAKE CARPET SAMPLES FOR THE DAY TO MATCH TO OUR CURRENT INTERIOR. HE ASSURED ME THAT WITH THEIR LIGHTING ''IT WOULD LOOK LIKE THE REAL THING.'' HE ALSO WAS APPREHENSIVE ON SENDING ANYONE TO MEASURE THE ACTUAL HOME. HE WANTED TO GIVE ME A QUOTE ON THE GUESSTIMATED SQUARE FOOTAGE. WHEN I LET HIM KNOW THAT I WAS READY TO CARPET, THAT I WAS SIMPLY PRICING JOBS BETWEEN THEM AND ANOTHER PLACE THEN HE WAS FINALLY READY TO HAVE SOMEONE CALL ME WITH A DATE TO MEASURE. BY THE TIME I RECEIVED THIS THIRD PARTY'S CALL I HAD ALREADY SELECTED CARPET FROM ANOTHER SOURCE, HAD MY HOME MEASURED, RECEIVED AN ESTIMATE AND BOOKED THE DATE OF THE INSTALLATION. MALKIN'S OBVIOUSLY WASN'T INTERESTED IN OUR BUSINESS.

I HAVE PURCHASED FLOORING AND CARPETING FROM MALKIN'S ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS FOR TWO HOMES. RECENTLY, I WAS DECIDING ON VARIOUS PRODUCTS TO REPLACE OUR KITCHEN FLOORING. I TOOK SAMPLES HOME, AND MY SALESMAN WAS VERY HONEST, AND UP FRONT WITH PRICES, COMPARISONS, ETC. THERE IS NO PUSH FOR A SALE WITH MALKIN'S AND THEY GIVE YOU ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD TO DECIDE, TAKE SAMPLES OUT, SHOP PRICES, ETC. DUE TO ELDERLY IN-LAW HEALTH ISSUES, OUR PURCHASE IS IN LIMBO NOW UNTIL THINGS SETTLE DOWN A BIT, BUT I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO WORKING WITH THEM SOON.
