"DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. where do I start? Last year I went in to look for luxury vinyl planking for my home. Not only was I over looked several times before I was helped, but they literally helped a person that just walked in behind me as I waited at their front desk... when everyone else was attended to, it was my turn I guess. I set up a time and date for an estimate, and they came. They took measurements and everything. I was told to give it a few weeks for my estimate. I said ok. A month later, I believe, I went in to ask about the estimate. The same guy that helped me completely forgot, and said it wasn't done yet, but they'll get it to me soon....I never heard from them again. No estimate. So I decided not to even try with them. Fast forward to this experience...I decided to give them a try again... stupid me. The salesperson seemed nice enough as she apologized for my previous bad experience. She said it won't happen this time. Well she was right about it not being the same experience, it was a totally different s*** show... after the estimate, I made a date and time for installation. They called me the day before and notified me that instead of our 8am to 10am time, it would be 12pm maybe 1pm at the latest. I said very well, what choice do I really have?...1pm hits, and nothing. 130pm no call, no installer. 2pm then 230pm. No call, no installer. By this time I have to go pick up my wife from work. I knew exactly how this would play out. I leave, installer comes, no one's home, I get blamed, and have to reschedule. So I drive to carpet city after calling multiple times with no answer, and no way to leave a message. I arrive and only one person is working, and no one to answer the phone. I talk to the salesperson and she has no clue what's going on. No communication with their installer, and blames them for being late. She states that the installers never keep them updated on their ETA or their status. That it's so frustrating. I don't buy her "we are the victim" attitude, so I vent my frustrations with their company. She calls the installer and asks him what his ETA is and he says 5 min. Well I have to get my wife, so I'm not gonna be home. So she instructs the installer to wait until I get home. I get home and no one's waiting.... long story as short as possible, they blame each other, no one takes responsibility, the installer didn't know it was 2 rooms, carpet city didn't give him enough padding, then tried to give him a lesser brand and material in place, etc... this place is horrible and I'll never use them again... it's ridiculous. Good luck if you do. Maybe you'll be the right type of customer that they'll treat you better..."

While it’s possible to install carpet yourself, it’s best to hire a local carpet installer to ensure it’s done correctly and safely. Before installing carpet yourself, check whether the manufacturer’s warranty will remain intact. Many manufacturer’s warranties won’t cover the cost of materials under the warranty if it wasn’t installed by a pro. In addition, you should only install carpet yourself if you’re familiar with the tools required and if the installation is straightforward, not involving things such as floor vents or stairs.
Keeping your new carpet clean is vital to extending its longevity. Vacuuming regularly—at least once a week—can help remove dirt, debris, and pet hair. Instead of waiting, treating stains as they appear helps keep your carpet fibers looking fresh. Remember to blot rather than rub, rubbing will only make the stain larger.
It’s ideal to hire a professional carpet cleaning service to conduct a deep cleaning of your carpets a few times per year. The cost of professional carpet cleaning is $180 on average, which can help remove tough stains, draw out hidden dust and allergens, and eliminate odors.
There are many different types of carpets for you to choose from. When choosing a carpet, it’s essential to consider the following:
Fiber: Describes what your carpet is made of, such as polyester, wool, nylon, or acrylic.
Pile type: Explains how your carpet looks. Your carpet fibers can be looped, twisted, cut, or woven.
Pile height: Describes the length of your carpet. You can choose a low, medium, or high pile.
Density: Refers to how close yarn fibers are to each other.
Carpets can last between five and 15 years. The longevity of your carpet is dependent on a few factors, including its type, cushion, fibers, and amount of foot traffic. The type of carpet you have paired with the material impacts its life span tremendously and the foot traffic it endures.
If your carpet is 20 years or older, replace it soon to avoid potential odors and overly-worn spots. You should consider replacing it sooner if it has stains, water damage, smelly odor, matting, or color loss.
The cost to install carpet is $1,780 on average for 330 square feet, the size of an average living room. This cost could range from $200 to $5,000, depending on the amount of carpet, material, and type of carpet.
If you need 500 square feet of carpet, it’ll cost $1,500 to $5,500, while 1,000 square feet of carpet costs $3,000 to $11,000. Polyester is one of the more affordable options, ranging from $1 to $3 per square foot. Wool is a more luxurious option, ranging from $4 to $20 per square foot.
